ADB, India Sign $484 Million Loan To Upgrade Road Network In Tamil Nadu Industrial Corridor New Delhi Port Wings News Network he Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India here today signed a $484 million loan to improve transport connectivity and facilitate industrial development in the Chennai–Kanyakumari Industrial Corridor (CKIC) in the state of Tamil Nadu. CKIC is part of India’s East Coast Economic Corridor (ECEC), which stretches from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu and connects India to the production networks of South, Southeast, and East Asia. ADB is the lead partner of the Government of India in developing ECEC. Mr.Rajat Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, signed agreement for the Tamil Nadu Industrial Connectivity Project on behalf of

the Government of India, while Mr. Takeo Konishi, Country Director for ADB in India, signed for ADB. “The project is key to providing
seamless road connectivity across industrial clusters, transport gateways and consumption centers, and help reduce logistics and production costs for CKIC’s targeted industries to boost their competitiveness,” remarked Mr.
Mishra. “The project is part of the priority infrastructure projects identified for corridor development

BRITISH LISTENER Vessel with 115366 GRT, LOA of 294.90m arrived from Singapore to Chennai Port Anchorage on 12.06.2020 carried out Sign ON/OFF by disembarking 22 Indian Crew and embarking 24 Indian Crew, following the Standard Operating Procedures issued for Sign ON/OFF during the pandemic period. The vessel sailed on 15.06.2020 for Port of Yeosu, South Korea. Chennai has set landmark achievement by handling 1,15,500 Tonnes of Crude Oil on 09.08.2020, from the vessel M.T. CRIMSON carrying 1,32,765 Tonnes through the 42” diameter pipeline from Bharathi Dock (BD-III) to CPCL refinery in Manali. The above achievement surpasses the previous record of 1,14,000 Tonnes discharged from the vessel M.T. MOUNT FUJI at BD- III on 21.06.2020. Container Vessel m.v APL ENGLAND, berthed at Chennai Port’s second container Terminal M/s. Chennai International Terminal Pvt. Ltd., on 04.12.2020 has recorded landmark performance by handling Containers of 8397 TEUS comprising of Import 4276 TEUs and Export 4121 TEUs and sailed on 08.12.2020. The above noteworthy achievement surpassing the previous record of 7209 TEUS by m.v. HS EVEREST on 08.03.2016. Chennai Port Trust has recorded landmark performance by handling 1,51,754 TEUS during the month of December 2020. The above noteworthy achievement surpassing the previous record of 1,50,576 TEUS during the month of September 2018. Further, Chennai Port’s second container Terminal M/s. Chennai International Terminal Pvt. Ltd., has record handling Containers of 93,484 TEUS during the month of December 2020, surpassing its previous record of 89,449 TEUS during the month of July 2019. On 17 March 2021, Chennai Port handled 2,83,808 Tonnes of cargo, recording its highest throughput in a single day in the last 12 years.
