Officers get approval for crowd control training class By Lois Mittino Gray In the wake of current events, crowd control and police techniques are at the forefront and Mount Vernon Police Chief Tony Alldredge brought four requests for additional officer training to the August 17, Mount Vernon Board of Public Works meeting. Several of the courses will certify officers as trainers on timely topics, who can then train any other policemen on the local force or in the state. The duo will need the city credit card for food and lodging and use of a city vehicle. The fees for the courses will be paid out of the police department training budget.
