EDITORIAL
Dear Customer! For the first time in a long time, Norway Post is introducing a new way to frank letters. In April, we introduced postage labels to frank (large) letters, registered- and insured letters. The labels will not be delivered to customers, but will be affixed to the letter sent from a post office or Post in Shop. In addition to the price, the label will show the posting location, date and postcode. The Europa stamps have a joint theme, Think Green. A competition was held between the PostEurop member countries, and the motif designed by Doxia Sergidou from Cyprus was selected for the Europa stamps of all member countries this year. In Norway, we also decided to issue our own submission to the competition, which was designed by Enzo Finger. This year’s youngest stamp honoree is Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park. The Zoo has evolved into one of Norway's most popular tourist attractions. This year it is turning 50, an occasion that is being celebrated with two stamps designed by illustrator Egil Nyhus. Everyone talks about the weather. In particular, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, which turns 150 this year. The weather means a lot to Norwegians, and few institutions have been as important for a society as the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. The artist behind the stamps is Bruno Oldani, a veteran of Norwegian design. Speaking of the weather. We are approaching the warmest season of the year. Here at the Philatelic Service we would like to wish all of our customers a fantastic summer! See you in the autumn with our first stamp issue on 1 October. Kind regards,
