EDITORIAL
Dear Customer, Since Magnus Carlsen became the World Champion in chess in 2013, chess fever has gripped the country. When the Norwegian Chess Federation celebrated its centennial on the opening day of the Chess Olympiad in Tromsø on the 1st of August, it was natural for Magnus Carlsen to be part of the motif. Arild Yttri engraved the gorgeous stamp. The time has come in the Posthorn series of stamps to focus on the denomination of NOK 70. New this year is that the stamps are issued on self-adhesive paper and that the sheets are divided into two blocks of 50 stamps each. The stamps in the series are designed by Enzo Finger and Sverre Morken.
Kind regards,
Halvor Fasting

Trondheim –Støren
150th anniversary Norway Post was there when the Trondheim – Støren stretch of railway celebrated its 150th anniversary. Many railway enthusiasts had ridden along with the anniversary train from Trondheim to Støren on Saturday, 16 August. In collaboration with the National Rail Administration, Norway Post has designed two personalised stamps and one cancellation for the ride. The cancellation depicts the Di 3.616 locomotive, which pulled the anniversary train, and the stamps depict steam locomotive type I no. 1, «Robert», and a train pulled by a steam locomotive on the Oxstadøi viaduct. Convention of Moss
Bicentenary
The Convention of Moss was an agreement reached on 14 August 1814 between Karl Johan and the Norwegian government. At the Convention of Moss, Norway agreed to the union with Sweden. The Convention ended the war that had broken out when Swedish troops attacked Norway on 26 July 1814. The intention was to enact the provisions of the Treaty of Kiel, which had been signed in January of the same year between the Danish-Norwegian king, Frederik VI, and the Swedish Crown Prince, Karl Johan. The Treaty of Kiel established that as part of the SwedishNorwegian union Frederik VI would relinquish the Norwegian crown to the Swedish king. The most important provisions of the Convention of Moss were that Christian Frederik agreed to abdicate and leave the country and that Norway would be allowed to keep the main principles of its constitution in the union with Sweden.
