Children 7 Year
f Age & Under
To ensure the continued safety of our patrons, our pool admission standards have changed. On January 1, 2016, the City of Regina began enforcing enhanced supervisory standards at all swimming pools applicable to children seven years of age and under. •
All children seven years of age and under must be accompanied in the water by a responsible adult or youth. The supervising adult or youth must remain within arm’s reach of the child at all times.
Children may be excused from the arm’s reach rule only if they are five years of age or older and they can pass a swim test delivered by a lifeguard, or they are wearing a Lifejacket or personal flotation device. The adult or youth must remain in the water with the child, however they do not have to be within arm’s reach. •
One responsible adult or youth can supervise a maximum of three children who must remain within arm’s reach. If two or more children within their supervision qualify to be excused from the arm’s reach rule, the total number of children they are allowed to supervise will increase to a maximum of five.
Each Leisure Centre or Outdoor Pool may have additional safety standards in place specific to their facility. Please carefully read through all the facility rules with your child and follow the Lifeguard’s direction. We appreciate your cooperation as we implement these measures to improve safety for all patrons.

Swimmers work on their independence and ability to comfortably perform swimming skills within a structured class. Upon completion, swimmers are able to demonstrate their ability to submerge their face in water throughout an unassisted one meter glide. This is a transitional level swim class, and a caregiver is required to be in the water with the child for at least the first four lessons. Caregivers must come prepared with their bathing suit for every class until the instructor has determined the caregiver is no longer required.
