PROPOSED ZONING BYLAW AMENDMENT – BYLAW NO. 9439

The amendments will allow the relaxation of certain development standards for designated Municipal Heritage Properties and provide for the requirement of a Heritage Impact Statement in situations where a proposed development or demolition includes a heritage resource. Section 4.2 will be amended to include the following: Where a heritage resource is designated as a municipal heritage property, the Development Officer, in consultation with the Director of Planning and Development and the Heritage and Design Coordinator, may alter the development standards for a Municipal Heritage Property, provided that the development remains generally compatible with nearby uses.

Section 4.3.4 will be amended to include the following: At the discretion of the Development Officer, and in consultation with the Heritage and Design Coordinator, a Heritage Impact Statement may be required by the applicant for Municipal Heritage Properties, buildings included in “Schedule A” of Demolition Permit Bylaw No. 6770, or buildings listed on the Saskatoon Register of Historic Places.

The next Regular Business and Public Hearing Meetings of City Council are scheduled for Tuesday, May 23, 2017 beginning at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. respectively.

REASON FOR THE AMENDMENT – The proposed amendments, in conjunction with amendments to the Official Community Plan, will facilitate the integration of heritage initiatives with broader civic goals.

Regular and Public Hearing meetings of City Council are broadcast live on Channel 10 starting at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., respectively. Public meetings of City Council, including public meetings of the Governance and Priorities Committee and Standing Policy Committees are also video-streamed live on the City’s website as well as archived for future viewing. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

SASKTEL CENTRE BOARD OF DIRECTORS The SaskTel Centre Board of Directors reports to City Council. Its purpose is to promote, operate, manage, maintain and improve the SaskTel Centre. The Board is comprised of twelve members and includes the Mayor, two City Councillors and nine residents of the city of Saskatoon. New appointments will take effect after the Annual General Meeting of the Board to be held in April. Consideration for service on this Board includes skills in the following areas: • • • • •

Business Management; Government and Business Relations; Human Resources; Risk Management; and, Governance Strategy

The Board meets approximately eight times during the year, typically the first Wednesday of the month, at 4:00 p.m.

PUBLIC HEARING – City Council will hear all submissions on the proposed amendment, and all persons who are present at the City Council meeting and wish to speak on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in City Council Chamber, City Hall, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN NOTICE PROPOSED OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN BYLAW AMENDMENT – BYLAW NO. 9438

Saskatoon City Council will consider amendments to the City’s Official Community Plan Bylaw (No. 8769). By way of Bylaw No. 9438, The Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw, 2017 (No. 4), Section 2.1, Section 5.2.2, 15.1 and 15.2 will be amended as follows: • Section 2.1 will be amended to include the conservation of heritage resources. • Section 5.2.2 will be amended to include a broader definition of heritage that corresponds with the definition outlined in Civic Heritage Policy No. C10-020 (Civic Heritage Policy). • Section 15.1 and 15.2 will be amended to reflect the policies and objectives outlined in Civic Heritage Policy No. C10-020 (Civic Heritage Policy) and Heritage Plan. REASON FOR THE AMENDMENT – The proposed amendments, in conjunction with amendments to the Zoning Bylaw, will facilitate the integration of heritage initiatives with broader civic goals.
