CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – CIVIC BOARDS AND COMMITTEES The City of Saskatoon is currently seeking applicants for the following Boards & Committees. Applications will be received until 5:00 p.m. on February 3, 2017 for consideration by the Governance and Priorities Committee.

Citizens who wish to take an active role on one of the Civic Boards, Commissions or Committees must submit an application form, together with a resumé and two letters of reference. The Committee Application Form and Reference Form are located on-line at saskatoon.ca/boards.

Regular and Public Hearing meetings of City Council are broadcast live on Channel 10 starting at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., respectively. Public meetings of City Council, including public meetings of the Governance and Priorities Committee and Standing Policy Committees are also video-streamed live on the City’s website as well as archived for future viewing. What you can expect: • Roadway crews inspect, sand, and salt high traffic streets, bridges, and overpasses to provide traction and reduce icing. • Priority street plowing occurs on Priority streets starting with Circle Drive and freeways, followed by neighbourhoods. ALBERT COMMUNITY CENTRE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The Albert Community Centre Management Committee supervises the operation of the Albert Community Centre. Consideration for service on this Committee includes the following qualifications: • Community involvement; • Interest in historical structures and preservation; • Experience administrating a budget; and • Interest in the functions and use of the Albert Community Centre. The Committee meets monthly on the third Friday at 12:00 noon, and there are no meetings in July or August. CITY MORTGAGE APPEALS BOARD/ACCESS TRANSIT APPEALS BOARD The City Mortgage Appeals Board adjudicates all requests for forgiveness of City Mortgages that have been registered on lots purchased from the City under the City’s Lot Allocation Policy when an owner must sell the property prior to repayment of the City Mortgage loan. The Access Transit Appeals Board provides an appeal process for those who are denied Access Transit service. Consideration for service on theses Board includes the following qualifications: • Ability to conduct respectful information-gathering sessions; • Knowledge and understanding of barriers to accessibility for disabled and elderly persons; • Ability to assess information and provide objective, rational solutions to complex problems; and • Ability to assess information and provide rational solutions to complex problems. The Board meets as required. TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE The Traffic Safety Committee provides advice to City Council through the Standing Policy Committee on Transportation on policy matters relating to traffic safety. Applicants interested in serving on the Traffic Safety Committee should have an interest in the promotion of safe driving, and in identifying and solving traffic hazards. The Board meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 8:45 a.m. There are no meetings in March, July, August or December. MUNICIPAL HERITAGE ADVISORY COMMITTEE The Municipal Heritage advisory Committee provides advice to City Council on any matter arising out of The Heritage Property Act or the regulations thereunder and on the Civic Heritage Policy. Consideration for service on this Board includes the following qualifications: • Interest/expertise in heritage and history; • A level of community involvement on related issues; • Ability to commit time to participate in committee programs/activities; and The Committee meets on the first Wednesday, monthly, at 11:30 a.m. There are no meetings in July, August, and December.
