Once you have made that first big decision to eliminate the stress of home ownership and move to the luxurious Williston, you’ll have another option to consider: will your current needs and wants be best-met by All-Inclusive Independent Living or Retirement Apartment Lifestyle Rentals? If you choose All-Inclusive Independent Living, your monthly fees will include a wide range of on-site services and leisure opportunities. According to Tracy Thompson, Leasing Consultant for The Williston, you won’t need to leave the building for day-to-day activities. “It’s fantastic, so when it’s 40 below or 40 above, they don’t have to go outside, and they can have all of these great amenities at their fingertips,” she says. Debbie Brown, The Williston’s Executive Director, agrees. “People that want to live in this neighbourhood and help us build this community will be able to have everything at their hands. It is truly allinclusive living; we pay for utilities, WiFi, meals, transportation and recreation. Everything that makes you feel comfortable and at home is at The Williston.

A Health Resource Coordinator will help to ensure that residents live their best life possible. “She will make sure people are comfortable in the community and have access to good information when it comes to the flu season, foot care, or things such as diabetes and cancer,” says Brown. “We will talk to them about what their needs and wants and likes are and try to accommodate them as best we can.”

The Williston is holding its grand opening celebrations from Oct. 7 to 12, and everyone is invited to stop by and check out all that the adult community has to offer. There are several special events planned: • A Head Chef Show will be held in the Private Dining Room on Monday, Oct. 7 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Culinary Director Tyler Powers will present his own version of a how-to cooking show as he demonstrates an easy-to-make dish.

There will be samples offered following the demonstration and Powers will be available for a Q & A. RSVP required. • On Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Residents and any interested people are invited to a Meet the Neighbours event by dropping into the W Café for a free cup of coffee and a pastry. Current Residents can mingle with interested parties’ and speak about their experience of living at the Williston. There will be free copies of the Leader-Post, card games etc.

• The Williston Grand Opening and Ribbon cutting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The big event is the official grand opening, and all stake holders, dignitaries, VIPs, Residents, and the public will be on hand to officially open The Williston. There will be a small number of speeches and a ribbon cutting, followed by guided tours of The Williston’s amenities and show suites. There will be food stations and entertainment throughout the afternoon. RSVP required. • On Thursday, Oct. 10, renowned wine expert Doug Reichel will lead two groups through an experience in Wine Pairing in The Cellar at the Williston. This will be a crash course in wine

The Retirement Apartments make up the other wing and have four different layouts to choose from. The two wings are united by a striking centrepiece: the gorgeous community reception lounge, which serves as a gathering place for residents, family and friends. “It’s absolutely amazing,” says Brown. “It just takes your breath away. It’s almost overwhelming.” Prospective residents can select their new home based on their lifestyle choice, preferred location and storey, their favourite colour scheme, and whether they have pets. (Pets are welcome on the first two of the building’s four storeys, and the nearby dog run makes it convenient to exercise your four-legged flatmates. In the apartments, as in the common areas, The Williston is beautifully decorated with soft, inviting colours and dramatic light fixtures. All apartments are bathed in natural light, which is enhanced by high ceilings and an openconcept layout, with large windows and an adjoining patio or deck. Every suite has a full kitchen with five highend, stainless-steel appliances, including a double-door fridge with double, pull-out freezer drawers on the bottom, a smooth-top stove with a convection oven, a full-size dishwasher, an overthe-range microwave; quartz countertops; air conditioning; lots of cabinetry; and in-suite washer and dryer. “The Williston is all about living your best retirement and having great options and choices along the way,” says Thompson. “The Williston is truly one of a kind.
