POTASHCORP MESSAGE We all know Saskatoon is a city we can easily love. Its riverbank is beautiful. People are friendly and welcoming. And there is an energy here that is very exciting. At PotashCorp, we want to do our part to make Saskatoon a great place because it is our company’s home. Our mission is to help farmers grow strong, healthy crops to feed our growing world and to be involved in our community and support initiatives that enhance our city’s quality of life. This is a vision we share with the Saskatoon Community Foundation and that’s why this was our seventh year as presenting sponsor of the Gala. We know the Foundation’s grants touch every corner of our city and have a positive impact on thousands of people. Over the past decade, dozens of artistic and cultural performers have stepped into the spotlight and shared their talents with us – what a wonderful gift. We would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard through the years to ensure the gala is a special event. It reflects our city’s diversity, generosity and enthusiasm – and this is why we love Saskatoon.
FOUNDATION MESSAGE The Saskatoon Community Foundation, a charity like no other in our city. SCF invests donor gifts, creating endowments for long term sustainability, as well as granting strategically for current needs in our community. For over 46 years, the SCF has been investing in our community by granting to charitable organizations. Last year alone, due in part to community partnerships, the Foundation granted over $5.225 million! Currently, SCF manages over $63 million in assets and continues to seek unique opportunities to partner with other organizations to support great causes in our community. Our real story is the story of our donors. Supporters working to make the community in which you live a better place for everyone. Our approach is to encourage the game changers in our community and to provide expert advice to those willing to support our charitable sector. The PotashCorp Saskatoon Community Foundation Cultural Gala is an amazing event we are truly proud of. With the partnership from PotashCorp for the last

7 years and our other generous sponsors, we have raised over $3.2 million. All the funds raised from the Gala support the community we all love. We would also like to thank the incredible volunteers that make this event happen. Planning for the Gala is a year round effort. We are fortunate to have one of the hardest working committees in Saskatoon. We sincerely appreciate your dedication, time and effort to making this an event not to be missed! On behalf of the staff and the board, I would also like to thank His Worship, Mayor Don Atchison and his lovely wife Mardele for having been true patrons of our Gala from the beginning. I am truly honoured to be Chair of the Saskatoon Community Foundation and to be able to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone here this evening and to everyone working to “make Saskatoon the best community in which to live.” Kind Regards, Greg Keller Chair, Board of Directors, Saskatoon Community Foundation
On behalf of the Saskatoon Community Foundation’s Gala Committee, I would like to thank you for your support on our 10th anniversary Gala. The Gala included some of the most amazing local talent that Saskatoon has to offer, as well as food and a spectacular selection of wines that truly made this evening one to remember! The PotashCorp Saskatoon Community Foundation Cultural Gala is a fundraiser for the Saskatoon Community Foundation, a charity that endeavors to “Make Saskatoon the best community in which to live” and we hope that through your sponsorship, ticket purchase, silent and live auction support we can continue to make a difference in our community. I would like to thank the amazing volunteers on the Gala Committee that I have had the pleasure to work with for the last three years. Thank you again to all of you for your support to make this event a huge success! Sincerely,
Shari Bedient Chair, PotashCorp SCF Cultural Gala
PotashCorp Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Wayne Brownlee with Saskatoon Community Foundation Executive Director Carm Michalenko
Building Our Community. Together. We believe in partnerships – in working together to build a better community that enhances the quality of life today and for future generations. And, as title sponsor of the PotashCorp Saskatoon Community Foundation Cultural Gala for the past seven years, we’ve helped bring together individuals and businesses to raise millions of dollars in support of hundreds of community organizations. We believe the efforts of the Foundation and its community partners are something to celebrate – at the Gala and every day throughout the year.

2016 SIGNATURE GRANT: READ SASKATOON The Saskatoon Community Foundation’s 2016 Signature Grant of $50,000.00 has been awarded to READ Saskatoon. The Saskatoon Community Foundation makes Signature Grants to capital projects that will have an enduring impact on the quality of life in Saskatoon. In 2016, SCF’s focus is on supporting our youngest citizens in the first 2000 days of life. The $50,000.00 Signature Grant to READ Saskatoon will provide for an Early Learning Centre in READ’s new premises. READ Saskatoon’s Executive Director Sheryl Harrow-Yurach notes that “The cycle of learning begins in families; parents’ attitudes about learning shape the educational values of their children.” READ’s Early Learning Centre creates opportunities and removes barriers to learning. This is vital because literacy is the foundation of all skills.
According to Harrow-Yurach, “READ’s Family Literacy programs build community involvement and interaction through the relationships developed between families. Our parents consistently report the value of learning from one another and these connections often continue after programs end. We are pleased the Saskatoon Community Foundation has given us the opportunity to create connections within our walls.” Carm Michalenko, Executive Director of the Saskatoon Community Foundation, notes that “Investing in family literacy programs and early learning has a lasting impact, and that is the purpose of SCF’s Signature Grant Program. This Early Learning Centre will help families overcome their challenges and meet their literacy needs for years to come.”
