NAZARETH
OCT. 4
NAZARETH TO PLAY BESSBOROUGH GARDENS S U B M I T T E D BY S A S K T E L C E N T R E
Before we were enthralled by the raspy, gravel of Rod Stewart’s vocals, before the power of AC/DC or the boogie feel of ZZ Top, there was Nazareth. Loud and proud, the bad bad boys are back for their “Farewell To Canada Tour” on July 21 in the Delta Bessborough Hotel - Bess Gardens. Coming out of Scotland in the late 60s as part of the initial British hard rock invasion which was started by Cream and Deep Purple, the music they created was based on emotion as well as power. It combined British hard rock with old-fashioned American rhythm and blues. Hit singles in North America like Love Hurts, and the cover of Joni Mitchell’s
Team as well as top talent from China, Portugal, and Korea. Each team will face each other once in round robin format and compete for points to advance to the finals of this prestigious tournament. Canada is ranked 10th in the world. China is next in line at 19th. Korea is close behind at 23rd while Portugal sits at 30th. Since 1990, the FIVB World League tournament has brought top-level volleyball across
the globe. Canada has made 10 World League appearances. The tournament is played in cities within various participating countries throughout the summer, with the finals to be held in Portugal, July 9 and 10. Saskatoon is the only Canadian stop in the World League competition and Team Canada is led by Saskatoon’s very own Gavin Schmitt. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster Outlets or visit www.ticketmaster.ca.
This Flight Tonight along with memorable albums like Razamanaz, Loud ‘n’ Proud, Hair of The Dog and Expect No Mercy helped make Nazareth one of the most important rock bands of the 1970s and 80s. Nazareth recorded 22 albums in three decades and has toured and performed their classic hard rock in virtually every corner of the planet. The Scottish hard rock quintet makes their final return to Saskatoon on Thursday, July 21 and will be performing their classic hits in concert outdoors in the Bess Gardens. Opening for Nazareth are rock icons PRISM. Let the hard rock party begin! Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets or online at www.ticketmaster.ca.
