Classical ballet with a Canadian twist Classical ballet returns to TCU Place this March with Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s enchanting production of Swan Lake. Choreographed by company Artistic Director Bengt Jörgen, this famous tale of love and sacrifice showcases the extraordinary beauty of traditional ballet in its purest form. Adding his signature hint of Canadiana, Jörgen sets his production in the picturesque seascape of the Louisbourg Fortress in Nova Scotia, merging the ballet’s rich European history with uniquely Canadian storytelling. Company members dance to Tchaikovsky’s famous score in lavish 17th century inspired costumes by acclaimed designer and Order of Canada member Robert Doyle. The ballet’s striking sets by award-winning Canadian designer Camellia Koo also reflect the beauty of Canada’s national heritage parks, and dramatic lighting by Bonnie Beecher highlights over 30 performers in this ballet of ballets. Audiences across Canada are falling in love with Swan Lake – book now to see it at TCU Place, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.tcutickets.ca
