4 NAtions cup

The 4 Nations Cup is almost here, Saskatoon! USA, Canada, Sweden and Finland will compete in the five-day tournament that runs Nov. 6 to 10, but the Nov. 7 game when Canada and USA meet is the one everyone is most looking forward to. Colleen Sostorics was on the ice when Canada played the United States in Saskatoon back in 2005 as a tune-up to the 2006 Winter Olympics and had these comments about Canada’s current National team which includes Saskatoon’s own Emily Clarke: “We’re going to have the rare opportunity to witness the speed and skill that is today’s game. “Anytime Canada gets to play the USA, you know it’s going to be a great game,” Sostorics says. “That’s the game you live for, that’s the game you train all those hours for, that’s why you get up in the morning and put on your skates.” The Canadians are looking to capture gold after a heart-breaking loss to the Americans for Olympic Gold in

and Adventures in Public School with Judy Greer. The Deported World Tour kicked off in Australia and New Zealand in February 2018 and has already travelled to over 29 cities in 20 countries and been seen by over 100,000 fans worldwide. The tour will continue well into 2019 and Peters will then take an extended break from live touring to focus on other ventures and spend more time at home with his daughter. Catch Peters live at SaskTel Centre, Nov. 12. Tickets on sale now. Submitted by SaskTel Centre

Canada. 20th Century landscapes make up the stunning 30-foot backdrops, including Franklin Carmichael’s Church and Houses at Bisset (1931), Tom Thompson’s Snow in the Woods (1916), and L.L. Fitzgerald’s Trees and Wildflowers (1922). This is a beautiful Canadian work, and audiences are taken on Klara’s familiar, magical dream journey as she arrives in Canada and experiences winter landscapes filled with snowflakes, lumberjacks, Mounties, and creatures of the woods. This celebration of the wonder of the season is based on the popular traditional story The Nutcracker and the King of Mice by E.T.A. Hoffman, enjoyed by audiences for years. The ballet’s second act is remembered for its celebration of varied dances, and our charming divertissements of raccoons, loons, dragonflies, and bears demonstrate Klara’s longing for the summer months as she travels excitedly through her dreams. The iconic, show-stopping pas-de-deux in the final act is lovingly danced by Lord and Lady Birch as they usher Klara safely home at the end of the adventure. The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition will be at TCU Place at Sid Buckwold Theatre on Nov. 18, at 7:30 pm. For tickets visit tcuplace.com or tcutickets.ca. Canada’s Ballet Jörgen will returns to Saskatoon March 26, 2019 to perform Coppélia: A Comedy with Love visit canadasballetjorgen.ca for more information. Submitted by TCU Place
