and possibility of deterioration, is about to end. Duncan Marsh, a partner at Stiles Harold Williams - one of the two agents searching for a buyer - said: "We have had a number of enquiries. "I would hope a decision would be made in the next few weeks. "We are still marketing the property. We have had good interest in it and it is not a straightforward purchase for somebody."
News of the imminent sale has been welcomed by town and district councillor Jim Brooks, pictured above, whose Marine ward includes the hotel building. He said: "I obviously don't want the building to deteriorate any further. THat's important because it's one of the good buildings we have in that area. "But I am disappointed that planning permission was given for it be fully
converted to flats. "I believe the authorities could have done more to help the previous owners. Again and again, we hear about boutique hotels and it could have been good for that. "I think we will regret that in the future. I am glad, though, the building's going to have a new lease of life and I would not want it to deteriorate in any way. Turn page five
