Centre's future to be agreed A NEW deal is being finalised which could keep a popular centre open in Bognor Regis for years to come. THe provisional agreement will secure the Laburnum Centre’s future until 2034 if it is agreed. Arun District Council, which owns the centre, and its operator, Age UK West Sussex, have been

discussing the contract. Cllr Michael Clayden, Arun’s cabinet member for community wellbeing, has authorised his officers to enter into what is called a service level agreement with Age UK West Sussex. THis document will see the charity provide services at the Lyon Street centre for 15 years for a cumulative

fee of £256,000. A similar agreement has been compiled for services in the east of the district. His reason for making the decision was given by the council as: ‘to maintain thriving activity centres for older people and to achieve best value for the council’.
