An MIM senior leader and party MLA from Malakpet Assembly constituency, Ahmed Bin Abdulla Balala said that the party looks at three options: One is to divide the State into Rayala-Telangana state by merging Kurnool and Anantapur districts. The second option is a United Andhra with Hyderabad as its headquarters.

The third is Telangana with Hyderabad as its headquarters. He said the UT status to Hyderabad was not finding favour with the party satraps. He declined to say why.

While a section of the political leaders in the Congress agrees to it, the majority opposed it, saying it will only hasten the cessation rather than preventing it.

The first salvo on this issue was fired by senior Congress leader and MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy, who proposed that a referendum to know the City’s mind, where it wants to go in case of division of the State, be conducted. Some say it is not a bad idea but it should be conducted long before any decision on Telangana is taken or else it would have the opposite effect.

haziabad and Allahabad have emerged as the two most air polluted cities in Uttar Pradesh in a recent survey by a research and advocacy organisation. The survey conducted by Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment found pollutants of the size of 10 micron in Ghaziabad, Allahabad, Kanpur and Bareilly, which was four times the acceptable size of particulates in urban areas.

Virtual reality may help women lose weight Research shows that using virtual reality to reinforce behaviour could be effective, so experts wanted to establish whether it could be used to help people lose weight.

Previous research had shown that using virtual reality to reinforce behaviour could be effective, so the university experts wanted

To find out, the team first conducted a survey among 128 overweight women. Most of the women had tried to lose weight during the last year and the majority had never used a virtual reality game. Despite the fact that most of these women had no experience with the concept, the researchers found that 88 per cent said they were willing to try it.

then chosen for the study and allowed to pick “avatars” that they thought resembled their own skin colour and shape. The participants came to the university researchers’ clinic once a week and watched a 15-minute video featuring an “avatar” demonstrating healthy weight loss behaviour.

After four weeks of treatment, the women in the pilot study had lost an average of 1.6 kg, a fairly typical amount for traditional diet plans, Napolitano said.

The massive 15-day effort by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to evacuate stranded people in flood-ravaged Uttarakhand has ended.

DEHRADUN: The massive 15-day effort by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to evacuate stranded people in flood-ravaged Uttarakhand concluded Tuesday with the last pilgrim rescued from Badrinath.

Officially, over 3,000 are still missing, but NGOs fear the figure could well be 10,000.

As authorities continued their efforts to account for the missing and reach out to far-flung areas with relief material, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) vice chairman Shashidhar Reddy said the official count of the missing was over 3,000 but the NGOs’ estimate of 10,000 missing “cannot be ignored".

IAF spokesperson Squardon Leader Priya Joshi said that the first phase of Operation Rahat concluded Tuesday with a group of 150 being taken out to safety from Badrinath.

“It was one of the biggest heli-lift evacuation of civilians in aviation history," Joshi told IANS. State government officials said around 1.1 lakh people stranded by flashfloods and landslides were evacuated by personnel of the army, IAF, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

They said that some labourers remain in the affected areas and would be taken out as soon as roads were restored.

Officials said authorities now faced a challenging task of cremating badly decomposed bodies in Kedarnath area.

Asked about a UN report putting the missing number at 11,000, Bahuguna said that the figure of 3,000 has been arrived at with help of various agencies.

Reddy said choppers were being used to send supplies and eight teams of the NDRF were camping in the affected areas. He said 1,025 people injured in the nature’s fury were being treated in hospitals. Of the 3,727 villages, 2,283 villages have been restored their power connectivity. The Ministry of Women and Child Development has sent a two-member team to flood-hit Uttarakhand to asses the impact of the tragedy on children.

The team comprises National Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson Kushal Singh and joint secretary in the ministry Vivek Joshi.

The health ministry has sent 1,600 body bags to Uttarakhand as part of relief efforts.

NRI faces dowry rap An Hyderabadi working in the US is charged with criminal case of harassment for dowry.

HYDERABAD: The Begumpet women’s police station has registered a case against an NRI, T Harish Reddy, in connection with domestic violence and dowry harassment against his wife, Priya.

In a criminal complaint lodged with police, Priya’s father Dr B Keshav Reddy alleged that his daughter was physically and mentally tortured by her husband who works in the US and later forcibly sent her home demanding more dowry.

Harish Reddy is a resident of Secunderabad and has been working in the US for the past few years. More than 200 people were also injured in Aceh’s remote, mountainous interior when the strong 6.1-magnitude quake struck Tuesday, flattening buildings and triggering landslides.

The quake, which struck at a shallow depth of just 10 kilometres, has sparked panic in the natural disaster-prone region where more than 1,70,000 people were killed by the quaketriggered tsunami of 2004.

In Blang Mancung village, Central Aceh district, at least six children were killed when a mosque collapsed during a Koran reading session.

Subhan Sahara, head of the district’s disaster agency, previously said a further 14 children were trapped in the collapse.

But on Wednesday he said had not yet found any more bodies in the rubble and were now unsure how many had been inside.

“This is the biggest earthquake we’ve ever had here,” he told AFP. “People are still frightened, especially after the aftershocks last night. Nobody dared to stay at home. Everyone slept on the roads or in car parks.

“The earthquake triggered many landslides. People could not get out of the area because of fallen trees and mounds of earth blocking roads.”

The main hospital in the district was overwhelmed and tents had been set up in the building’s car park to treat the flood of patients, he said.

Military, police and local government officials were trying to head to other affected areas on Wednesday by ground and in aircraft but some roads were blocked by landslips, the national disaster agency said.

The agency dispatched a helicopter from neighbouring Riau province to assist in rescue efforts, while an air force plane was also deployed to assess the damage.

“So far 22 people died, 210 people were injured, and thousands of buildings and homes were damaged in the quake,” disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said.

The casualties were spread over the two worst-hit districts of Central Aceh and Bener Meriah, he said. Scores of people were being treated at hospitals across the region.

In Bener Meriah, about 300 people camped out overnight in open spaces, such as football fields, as the area was hit by strong aftershocks, Fauzi, an official from the local disaster agency told AFP. He said many were in des-

perate need of food.

“There were strong aftershocks last night and people didn’t want to go back home, so they stayed in the open overnight, but we don’t have enough tents,” said the official, who like many Indonesians goes by one name.

“We have a power outage now and communications are unreliable,” he added.

People ran outside in the provincial capital Banda Aceh as the quake — some 320 kilometres (200 miles) away — shook houses, and in Medan city to the south of the province on Sumatra island.

Aceh, on the northern tip of Sumatra, is regularly hit by quakes. The huge quake-triggered tsunami of 2004 not only killed tens of thousands in the province, but also many in countries around the Indian Ocean.

ore than 50 lakh children studying in government schools start this academic year with new uniforms and books but they must trek barefoot because footwear is not part of the deal.

Unlike states like Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, the State government has not provided for footwear despite increasing instances of children, especially in rural areas, being afflicted with hook worms and resultant anaemia on account of walking barefoot to and from unhygienic school areas. In fact, it’s a problem even among school-going children in urban areas, with many children coming in with blisters, say educationalists. “It’s a need that nobody really pays attention to. Luckily this year Naandi foundation gave footwear to the girl children in our school. But nobody ever donates for the boys. Something should be done to rectify this,” feels P Parameshwari, head mistress of Government High School, Ameerpet.

Veerander Rao, a lecturer from the Shah Ali Banda government school, has been witness to many of his students walking long distances barefoot in the blazing heat during the summers and wading through slush in the monsoons to reach their school.

“It might seem like a non-issue to many of us. But, most of these children come from extremely poor backgrounds. They can’t afford to eat, let alone have pairs of clothing or footwear. The government should provide them at least a pair of rubber slippers along with uniforms,” he says.

But despite several appeals to the government from groups like Balala Hakkula Sangham, nothing has been done so far to rectify the situation.

Citing reasons of policy and budget, the matter is usually dismissed.

“Every time we ask, they claim it will result in shooting up the budget.

Yet, last year, they returned almost `800 crore as surplus under the Rajiv

Vidya Mission, because of not knowing how to spend the excess money.

Clearly, funds are not the problem,” argues Achyuta Rao, founder of NGO Balala Hakkula Sangham.

Moreover, activists maintain that the move to provide slippers would not only benefit millions of children but provide much-needed business to ailing leather enterprises in the State.

Like in Tamil Nadu, where the government programme last year to distribute free footwear to children at a cost of `94.76 crore revived the State’s

small-scale leather co-operatives.

“If these orders come, it will be a new lease of life for the Leather Industries Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (LIDCAP), given that unable to face competition from private industry and having no orders from the government departments, it has been a sick unit for the last decade,” explains Rao. But the State seems to need further incentives, with no sign of any such programmes in sight. “There were discussions on the need for providing footwear last year but because it required large budget changes, nothing came out of it. Without an order, we can’t do anything,” concedes Subba Reddy, District Education Officer, Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, with monsoons already here, thousands of schoolgoing children are likely to be in deep water.

Tell us about how Shadab’s journey began? When was it conceptualised and what routine does the eatery follow?

The restaurant is my father’s brainchild. When he had built it in 1990, the hotel comprised only the ground floor. Today, it boasts two floors including air conditioned dining areas. The first air conditioned dining area was built in 1995.

With Shadab, my father wanted to set up a place that was affordable and at the same served quality food. He had envisioned the restaurant as a family dinner place for the people of Old City. I don’t think he had ever thought that it would go so far beyond that. As the popularity of the restaurant grew, we started expanding the staff, the menu and the place.

As far as the routine goes, Shadab opens at 5am for breakfast every day. We serve khichdi khatta and keema, bhajji gurda and nahari paya for breakfast.

On a regular day, the hotel is open till 1am, but during Ramzan, it stretches till 3am.

Hyderabad that serve good biryanis? What are Shadab’s hot-selling dishes?

The way the biryani is prepared here is the same as everywhere else. But, we add a secret ingredient to make it even more special.

Shadab’s popularity has grown massively in the past six years.

Even with new restaurants coming up, we don’t feel threatened as people in Hyderabad will never get sick of biryani.

Moreover, we are known for our warm service; for that reason alone, people will continue to frequent this restaurant. Also, we have never compromised with our quality, irrespective of the density of the crowd that walks in daily. We have regular customers who dine at Shadab almost four times a week; they’ve been doing so for the past 10 years! Like I said, people will never get sick of good biryani.

aving completed six months of intensive training, the students who had enrolled for an acting course at Annapurna International School for Film and Media, faced an audience, which included superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna, recently to deliver two live theatrical performances.

The students also got few tips on acting from the star. The students staged Waiting for Godot, which is considered to be one of the most significant English language plays of the 20th century and Gardhabhandam, a Telugu play by Thanikella Bharani.

The performance of the nine passing-out students was highly appreciated. They captivated the audience with their powerful dialogue delivery and acting skills. After the performance,

This batch of Acting Course students started their course from January 2013 till June 2013, at AISFM, it covered acting for stage and screen, both Indian and western dance, stunt and fight skills and professional career skills for the Indian film and TV industry.

Just like she did 50 years ago when he was preparing for his treason trial, Winnie has been visiting the man to whom she was married for almost four decades to give moral support.

While the revered leader’s current wife Graca Machel keeps a constant vigil at his bedside, it is Winnie once again who has become the public face of the Mandela family.

Her increased profile has helped to polish the image of the woman who was once an outspoken thorn in the side of the racist white minority regime, but who later became tainted by scandal.

Deadline looms over illegal workers ASSAD ABBOUD Agence France-Presse RIYADH: Illegal foreign workers in Saudi Arabia, mostly Asians, are in a race against time to take advantage of an amnesty ending Wednesday that would allow them to stay or return home without prosecution.

King Abdullah announced the amnesty on April 3, granting foreign workers three months to regularise their residency or leave the oilrich Gulf monarchy to avoid being blacklisted or jailed and fined.

More than 1.5 million illegal foreign workers came forward during the first two months of the amnesty, the labour ministry said.

It did not say how many illegal foreign workers currently live in the kingdom, but the number is reported to be around two million.

Of these, some 180,000 have left in addition to more than 200,000 unregistered workers expelled at the start of the year under new regulations to stamp out illegal immigration.

Many workers are still queueing outside their embassies to obtain documents to either leave Saudi Arabia or legalise their status before Wednesday.

The Thai capital, renowned as much for its commitment to fun as it is for fiery cuisine, has embraced the odd, amusing and bizarre in a bid to lure customers through the door.

In the city suburbs, staff at Ka Tron restaurant delight customers by loading cooked chickens into a catapult and firing them across a stage where they are caught on a spike by a waiter riding a unicycle.

Despite the pressure that comes with live performance, their catch rate is impressive.

“We have been going 26 years and we have probably fired hundreds of thousands of chickens, but we have only dropped a few hundred,” said restaurant owner Nattaset Rattanapipob.

BABYLON: At ancient Babylon’s Ishtar Gate, Iraqi workers labour with a heavy saw, hammers, a chisel and crowbar to break up and remove a concrete slab that is hastening the structure’s decay.

The concrete lies between the two long, towering walls of tan bricks decorated with processions of bulls and dragons that make up the more than 2,500-year-old Ishtar Gate, in what is now Iraq’s Babil province.

The masonry slab was laid during the late dictator Saddam Hussein’s rule.

Removing the concrete is deemed essential to preserving the Ishtar Gate at Babylon, which also served as the base for a later gate of the same name, the reassembled remains of which are now located in Germany.

In the 1980s, “there was a large intervention of modern masonry inserted behind the facades” of the Ishtar Gate, in addition to “changes in the terrain behind, and resurfacing of the base of the gate with concrete,"

said Jeff Allen, field manager for the Future of Babylon project which is carrying out the work.

All of those factors are accelerating “the rate of damage at the site, and decay, and what we’re doing at Ishtar Gate is trying to arrest or to slow down those mechanisms that are causing the gate to collapse," Allen said.

Removing the concrete “will allow the ground to breathe and evaporate water, because at the present time... the water cannot escape, so it routes through the easiest direction to get to the AROUND THE

surface," which is through the gate itself, he said.

The Future of Babylon project is a joint effort between the World Monuments Fund, which works to save key cultural heritage sites, and Iraq’s State Board of Antiquities and Heritage. The project’s original aim was to complete a management plan for Babylon, but it has been expanded to include restoration and conservation work at various parts of the site as well.

The UAE will invest nearly $25 billion on gas development projects, including exploring new gas fields and increasing gas output, in the next five years, Minister of Energy Suhail Al Mazrouei has said. Iwao Hakamada worked at a soybean processing factory about two hours east of Tokyo when he was arrested and later sentenced to death for the grisly murder of his boss and the man's family.

Hakamada was 30 years old.

The year was 1966. The US and Soviet Union were locked in a Cold War space race, Star Trek was in its first season and Japanese factories were busy pumping out a consumer gadget that would power its economic boom: colour televisions.

Nearly five decades later the Soviet Union is a relic of history, Star Trek is a global franchise, while Japan's world-beating economy is recovering from 20 years of tepid growth. And Hakamada, once a professional boxer, is a frail old man who spends his days in a solitary prison cell.

The 77-year-old is believed to be the world's longest-serving condemned inmate, a man supporters say has lost his grip on reality while awaiting death by hanging - or old age — even as questions over his guilt emerge.

"What I am worried about most is Iwao's health. If you put someone in jail for 47 years, it's too much to expect them to stay sane," Hakamada's now 80-year-old sister Hideko told AFP outside the Tokyo Detention House.

Hakamada now refuses monthly visits from his sister and "talks nonsense", she said as rain fell outside the imposing prison in the Japanese capital, one of seven institutions across the country where condemned inmates are sent to the gallows.

uropeans may express outrage over revelations of US spying but they know perfectly well how the espionage "game" is played — everybody spies on everybody, former intelligence officials say.

President Barack Obama seemed to suggest as much even as he tried to defuse the uproar over the National Security Agency's alleged eavesdropping on the European Union mission in Washington as well as embassies of other allies.

"I guarantee you that in European capitals, there are people who are interested in, if not what I had for breakfast, at least what my talking points might be should I end up meeting with their leaders," Obama said during a visit to Tanzania.

"That's how intelligence services operate." Former head of the NSA Michael Hayden dismissed the outcry across the Atlantic, suggesting US was not alone in snooping on its friends.

"Any European who wants to go out and rend their garments with regard to international espionage should look first and find out what their own governments are doing," Hayden said. "The French spy on us, the French spy on England. The Israelis, the Russians, the UK, the US, the Chinese, all large countries with serious intelligence services are always spying on the govern-

ments of other countries," the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP. But one European source, who asked not to be named, said anger among Western allies was understandable given the "mass" scale of the US electronic surveillance, revealed in recent weeks by intelligence leaker Edward Snowden, a former NSA contractor.

"Hypocrisy is part of the game."

For James Lewis, a former senior US official and an expert on cyber security, some of the criticisms "ring a little hollow" because "the big European countries do things that are very similar to this." Saying one thing publicly about spying and approving something else in secret is a longstanding tradition, as "hypocrisy is part of the game," said John Scheuer, a former CIA officer now at Georgetown University.

Scheuer was involved in a program running secret prisons for terror suspects after the September 11 attacks, and he said the CIA shared information with "European partners" that was gathered from harsh interrogations of detainees.

"But whenever it became public, they were shocked and appalled and they condemned us for doing it," Scheuer said.

"And that's the way the game works." The former CIA officer said Washington could always turn the tables on its partners if it needed to. "We always have in our pocket in the United States the knowledge of who is spying

against us and it's always possible that if someone in Europe or Europe pushes us too far, the president will say 'OK, here's the evidence that X country in Europe is collecting against America," he said.

In the world of espionage, spying among allies is quietly accepted but there are some methods that would never be considered, like trying to shape an election in Europe, former intelligence officials said.The only genuine red lines on spying on friends apply to the major English-speaking countries, the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, which operate under the "five eyes" agreement on intelligence gathering.

The spying partners ran into a hail of criticism in the 1990s when their "Echelon" electronic

surveillance program was exposed. Among US allies, France and Israel are suspected in particularly of engaging in sophisticated cyber espionage for economic gain. A National Intelligence Estimate from all 16 US spy agencies recently concluded that China ranked first in economic espionage against American companies, with France, Israel and Russia in second place. "I would look at that if I was either an American, a Belgian or a Brit, my government would be kind of negligent if they were not collecting intelligence that would assist our economy," Scheuer said. As for US spying on the EU mission, it was unnecessary as any information could be obtained through ordinary means, said Lewis of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Technology iWATCH With Apple filing an iWatch trademark application in Japan, the days of wearable computing, seen as the next frontier in consumer electronics, might be right around the corner.

FIGHTING BACK A large coalition of civil rights and privacy groups and potentially thousands of websites will stage protests on the Fourth of July to protest surveillance programs at the US National Security Agency. As part of the Restore the Fourth campaign, many website members of the 30,000-member Internet Defense League plan to display a protest of NSA surveillance and the text of the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution. Websites participating include Reddit, where Restore the Fourth originated, WordPress, 4chan, Mozilla, Fark, and Cheezburger.com. Organisers are also planning live protests in dozens of US cities.

pple has filed a trademark application for an “iWatch” in Japan, fuelling speculation the US tech giant is preparing to introduce a wearable computing device to go up against products on stream from Google and Samsung.

The firm has long been rumoured to be working on introducing an “iWatch”, in a move that would represent the biggest gadget launch by the firm since the iPad mini last year.

The trademark application was filed on June 3, according to the Patent Office.

“The application is under examination process for approval, which in general takes some four to five months,” a Patent Office official said.

No one from Apple in Tokyo was immediately available to comment on the application.

Wearable computing, including Google’s Glass eyewear, is widely seen as the next frontier in consumer electronics, following smartphones.

Competition in the “smart-

watch” market is already heating up, with Google, Microsoft and Samsung Electronics rushing to develop their own watchtype computing devices.

Sony last week unveiled the latest version of its SmartWatch, which links with smartphones to receive alerts about phone calls, emails and updates from social networks, as well as including a music function.

Industry watcher ABI Research estimates that 1.2 million smartwatches will be sold globally this year.

“Apple’s iWatch is likely to be a touchstone of the future of the company,” said Hiroshi Sakai, chief economist with SMBC Friend Research Center.

“Apple had led the industry with lifestyle changing products,” Sakai said.

“The key to another success for the company is whether it can offer another new lifestyle with iWatch or other products so that it can achieve a de facto standard in the post-smartphone world.”

Apple shares tumbled last week after an analyst said it was

going to slash production of its iPhone. The company’s stock price has been on a downward trend since September when shares topped $700.

The passwords accessed were not stored in clear text and were encrypted, but there is still a chance of the encryption being broken. Union Minister Chiranjeevi was the chief guest at the event and he couldn’t stop raving about the film. “I’m extremely happy that I am attending a film related event after a long time and at this moment, I realise how much I have missed all the adulation which the fans have bestowed upon me over the years.

Honestly, I’m thrilled that my son (Ram Charan) has got a chance to be a part of an action thriller like Yevadu. Films like these are rare to find and after watching the rushes, I was on cloud nine. Vamshi Paidipally and his entire team have done a great job.

Although Allu Arjun has done a cameo, the audience will remember him throughout the film. There are lots of things which I want to talk about, but all I can say is that audience will get as excited as I am after watching the film. After Magadheera, I’m confident that Yevadu will be the film which will take Ram Charan to the next level,” Chiranjeevi said, while speaking at the event. Recalling his first interaction with Vamsi Paidipally, Ram Charan said, “He came to me, along with writer Vakkantham Vamsi, two years ago while I was shooting for Raccha. I was stunned after listening to the story and immediately agreed to be part of the film. All of us have put in a lot of effort into the film and I’m sure the audience will also feel the same thing.” Devi Sri Prasad has scored the music.

After the event, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun announced that they are going to donate `10 lakh each to the Uttharakhand Relief fund and the Chiranjeevi Youth Association donated another `25 lakh. The film is expected to hit the screens on July 26.

SUDOKU How to play kakuro Kakuro is a popular game similar to sudoku in some ways. But is also suitably different. The key question: ‘How do you play kakuro?’, well here are the rules of kakuro. The answer: The kakuro grid, unlike in sudoku, can be of any size. It has rows and columns, and dark cells like in a crossword. And, just like in a crossword, some of the dark cells will contain numbers. Some cells will contain two numbers.

However, in a crossword the numbers reference clues. In a kakuro, the numbers are all you get! They denote the total of the digits in the row or column referenced by the number.

Within each collection of cells — called a run — any of the numbers 1 to 9 may be used but, like sudoku, each number may only be used once.

Let’s have an example to explain this concept more clearly: In the image above, which shows a section of a kakuro puzzle, you will see the numbers ‘26’ and ‘14’ in the top row. Look at the 14. This means that the total of the three cells underneath must sum to 14. Therefore 9, 4, 1 could be the answer, or perhaps 7, 4, 3 and so on...

So, how do you work out the actual combination? Well, this is done through elimination and cross-referencing. For instance, as you work out the answers for other kakuro clues, this will naturally limit the valid combinations, and hence the answer for this particular run.

Note the second cell in row two — it contains two numbers, 30 and 11. The 30 refers to the vertical run underneath the number 30 and the 11 refers to the two cells to the right, horizontally, of the number 11.

NICE: Ted King’s Tour de France debut ended in controversial fashion Tuesday after he missed the time cut-off for the stage four team time trial by seven seconds.

King, an American who rides for Cannondale, dislocated his shoulder when he was one of several riders caught up in the crash which marred the opening stage of the race on Saturday. After battling through two further stages on the French island of Corsica, King saddled up for stage four, fearful of having to adapt his body to the unforgiving position required by his aerodynamic time trial bike.

The pain was so excruciating he decided to race with a normal road bike, but he began trailing his teammates early in the 25km race against the clock.

“On this team we’re all good friends and we work hard to help each other.

“It’s unbelievable. It’s been a dream two days for us. It really doesn’t get any better than this.”

DUNBAR: India’s Shiv Kapur battled miserable cold and wet conditions in Dunbar on Tuesday to qualify for the British Open later this month at Muirfield.

Kapur, 31 is into only his second Open Championship appearance after finishing the joint second leading qualifier at the Dunbar course to the east of Edinburgh.

It was one of four courses hosting qualifying and with the New Delhi-born Kapur among 288 players seeking to grab the three spots on offer at each

course. Kapur, who last competed in the 2006 Open won by Tiger Woods at Hoylake, got off to a brilliant start when he eagled the second hole in the morning 18 holes.

He ended up posting a one under par 69 and after a short lunch break Kapur came back out to set a new course record of a six under par 64.

FIXING Kaneria urged to come clean after appeal loss LONDON: Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria was urged to “come clean” after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) rejected his appeal against a life ban from cricket at a hearing in London Tuesday.

The ECB handed down the life ban last year after a panel found him guilty of inducing his then Essex teammate Mervyn Westfield to deliberately under-perform.
