МУЗЕЙНЫЙ ГИД

Founded in 1962, the Local History Museum of the Urals village of Aramashevo has a collection that covers regional history from old precious stones and 19th-century peasant household utensils to novelties introduced in the 1960s and 1970s. You can attend here a Class at a Rural School of the 1950s or learn folk crafts, such as ribbon trimming, beading or making roll-dolls. ‘New Life of Urals Painting’ is an interesting project. Two Urals ‘izbas’ (rural houses) have been restored from ruins and painted in traditional colours by young artists. From floor to ceiling, the winter and summer ‘izbas’ are decorated with fanciful flowers, heavenly birds and even a steam engine – a technical piece of exotica for a Urals village in the early 20th century. Visitors are served a traditional Urals lunch, taught to weave bark or decorate wood with painting, and told about local traditions and beliefs. Yulia Terekhova, an art historian who studies folk art and house painting, writes about the way of life restored at Aramashevo.
