BIOGRAPHY OF THE LATE SETH PARKER ALLOTEY AKA Nii Adotei

My dear distinguished sympathizers and mourners, family and extended family members it was with a moment of great sadness, pain and grief to gather here this solemn day to mourn and say our good bye to a son, brother, father, family member and a honourable man. Birth Seth Adotei Allotey was born on Tuesday 16th February 1965 to late Nii Kpakpo Amako II (Sempe Mankralo) and Mrs Elizabeth Fatima Allotey. He was the fourth of the twelve children of the late Nii Kpakpo Amako II of blessed memory.

just great at gures! He joined the Ministry of Health Accounting Department and worked hard rising through the ranks to become an Auditor. He employed professionalism in his work as an Auditor and paid close attention to details. He took his work very seriously. As a result, Seth was sent on assignment many times to the various hospitals across the country. Seth by dint of hard work was given a citation while he was at the Princess Marie Louis Hospital in Accra for his remarkable auditing contributions while he was with them. Not stopping there he rose quickly through the ranks from being a Senior Accountant to a Senior Internal auditor.

Education Seth attended Lamptey - Mills Institute and Ebenezer Secondary School, all in Accra, for his primary and secondary education. He was highly interested in Accounting and pursued an Accounting Course at the Institute of Management Studies graduating with a Diploma in Accounting. Career Seth was an excellent accounting ‘guru’ who many of his peers looked up to, for help in the eld. He became a teacher of the subject to many others. Seth was

for to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain these hospitals. Seth after 3 years at Winneba was transferred to Swedru Hospital where he was until his demise on Saturday 5 January 2019. Personality Seth was a principled man and was nicknamed ‘Mr Fire’ by his peers during his secondary school days at the Ebenezer Secondary School. He was a man who never compromised on what was right and confronted the wrong and always spoke up his mind. He called a spade a spade and never minced on his words. Seth was a traditionalist who always participated in most family meetings that were held to promote the welfare of the Parker Allotey Family in particular and Sempe as a whole. He was affable to many of his friends that came to stay with him at his late father’s house in Mampose, Camara Accra providing them with food and shelter. Through him some of those friends have been able to nd their feet and purpose in life and are in turn making meaningful impact on others’ lives. Seth among his friends, siblings and family members was brave, forthright, and challenged unacceptable behaviours which most of the time won him lots of enemies but in the end his actions always made people saw what he stood for and was proven right by them most of the time. Christian life Seth gave his life to Christ by confessing Him as his Saviour and Lord in 1985 at this very place where he now lay in state. He was baptised with the Holy Spirit on the same day of his spiritual birth experience and once spoke in tongues. He towed the orthodox line by attending the Saint Francis of Assisi Anglican Church until his demise. Just like Paul said in Philippians 1:21 ‘for to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain’ heaven has gained in receiving him but is a sad loss for us here on earth. Nonetheless, we can comfort ourselves that he knew His saviour and can assure hearts that his soul is not lost in eternity. Seth now is asleep in the Lord and resting

from his labours and all his good works will follow him according to Revelations 14:13. Lastly, 1 Thessalonians 4:13 -18 condently declare that we shall see him again when the Lord appears in the skies to rapture the dead and the living in Christ. Family life Seth was a very responsible father, a faithful and trustworthy husband who gave his all to the loving and enviable care of his family. He ensured his children were adequately catered for, were very serious with their studies and nurtured them to be responsible, creative, and innovative and law abiding children. He left behind ve children – Marjorin, Desmond, Cedric, Albert and Philip and his two beautiful wives Margaret and Fanny. May his soul rest in perfect peace in the heavenly mansion prepared for him by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Adotei hi shi ojogbaŋŋ yε tsε ofe lε hewale mliŋ My son fare thee well, Yahweh be with you, amen May his soul rest in peace.

TRIBUTE BY MOTHER, MRS. ELIZABETH ALLOTEY

The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they nd rest as they lie in death Isaiah 57:1-2

Writing this tribute has been the hardest I have had to do as a mother. No amount of words can express my grieve. I still cannot believe that my son is gone forever. Of all the special gifts of life, having you was the greatest. I remember the joy that lled my heart the rst day i held you in my arms. The love and bond we shared made you acquire accolades like “MUMMY’S BOY”, “NII BI”, etc from your siblings. Tei as I affectionately called him was very affable, free-spirited and courageous person. A personality that believed in making the best out of every situation. His desire to see the fair dispensation of justice knew no bound so I wasn’t surprised when He joined the audit service. Despite the pains you were going through in the latter part of last year, you kept the energy to ght and encourage us to keep hoping for the best. I hold dear memories of our time together that fateful Saturday when you returned from your normal hospital reviews. I never knew that those were going to be the last. You quietly closed the door to your life just when I thought the storms were over without a good bye. Your sudden and untimely departure from this earth has left an emptiness and gaping hole in my heart, but I believe God will use the instrument of time to seal them. Seth my dear son, mum loves you but God loves you more. Into his tender loving arms I commit your soul. Ride on my gallant son, Ride on to glory. You have run the race and fought a good ght. Rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord till we meet again. Tei yaa wo ojogbaŋŋ yε tsεlε den.

TRIBUTE BY WIVES “Through all the changing scenes of life in troubles and in joy, the praises of our God shall still our hearts and tongues employ” Death has actually dealt us a big blow and has snatched from us not only our responsible husband but a brother, a friend and a condant. The question on our lips is "where can we nd another Seth to love, to hold, to cherish and adore" We thank the good Lord for endowing us with a beloved, honest, caring and a protective husband. In fact, you were a responsible, hardworking and wonderful husband whose company we really enjoyed and would forever cherish in our hearts. Today, we can boldly say without a shadow of doubt that our children epitomise your loving and caring nature. You really took keen interest in their wellbeing, especially their education and guarded their affairs with eagle eyes. We will acknowledge the fact that we have sadly lost you nonetheless we forever take strong consolation in the fact that you have gone to be with the Lord. We will miss the strong but sweet voice always keeping us on our toes to discharge

our solemn duties as your soul mate. In our deepest sorrow we salute you as you were resolute in whatever you did; things that always brought good and benecial results to us all. You were a strong ghter and you never allowed your failing health to take away the courage you always had in life. We thank God for the life you shared with us and moreover for being our genuine companion throughout. We constantly and hopefully prayed that the Almighty God would grant you a few more years and good health to do His work and be there for us but that was not meant to be. We both say this humble prayer: "Our God, our father while we stray far from our home on life's rough way O teach us from our hearts to say thy will be done, thy will be done" We believe Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ needs you more than we do to take your rest in His loving bosom. For that we say fare thee well gallant soldier, great warrior, true love, friend and beloved husband. We have this blessed hope that one day we shall meet you with the Lord in the air and forever be with Him.

TRIBUTE BY CHILDREN Our “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose” Romans 8:28. It was sudden and certainly unexpected to have lost you so early in our lives. Even at the point where we thought we were going to lose you, you travailed through those harsh circumstances and we were grateful to God for it. To think that just at the point when we all thought all was well and sound, we were dealt with the painful blow by losing you. Death laid its cold icy hands on you. It is a difcult circumstance we nd ourselves in presently but we are comforted in knowing that you are resting in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. After all you have been through, there is nothing more we could ask for than to accept that you are denitely in a better place. We bless God for this beautiful assurance.

Oh ‘is Nii Adotei’ what more could we ask for in a father. 7

There was no father who was as doting and responsible as you. Our education was always your priority and we did not lack in anything. You worked tirelessly to make sure we were well provided for and for that we are forever and eternally grateful. Call him “Nii Adotei Obedeka!” and he responds “square” with that smile that was always warm and welcoming. Truthfully, we miss you more than we could even imagine! Naa Shika cries to still be “your walking stick”, Desmond is here even asking for you to chide him, Cedric cannot wait to have a lengthy conversation with you and Philip and Albert are at a loss for words! So many times you told us to take care of each other. So many times you made us laugh, always teasing. You taught us everything we know, from studying to reading, communicating well with others, respecting everyone around us to dressing decently. Oh ‘is Nii Adotei’ what more could we ask for in a father. We loved you and you loved us. There is no doubt in our hearts that you were the best father anyone could ask for. We are grateful to be called your children no matter how short your time with us was. Daddy, even though you are physically gone, you will always remain in our hearts. Our beautiful memories will certainly not be forgotten. They will be our comfort and we will tell our children how wonderful their granddad was when he was alive. May you continue to nd peace in God’s arms, until we meet again! Sleep well Nii Adotei, Rest in Perfect Peace Daddy!

TRIBUTE BY SIBLINGS The news of the sudden demise of our beloved brother Seth sent shivers down our spine and we found it so difcult to believe and comprehend. Some family members still cannot understand his sudden passing because on the day of his death he was very cheerful and chatted heartily with our mother. We did not know that at that moment he was saying bye-bye to her and to us his siblings. He did not even give us a clue on that fateful day that he was leaving us to join his father in Heaven. As we begin to reach out for the right words to express our thoughts about our beloved and departed brother Seth, we remembered the many valued and meaningful roles that he played throughout his life on earth. Our brother was a family man who loved his family profoundly. He was a devoted husband, father and brother. He took all of the roles in his life to heart and he strove to honour, support, and guide and most importantly, protect his family. He was at his happiest when he was surrounded by his family, even during those inevitable tough times that life has a way of throwing at us. His devotion to his family was the foundation of his actions and the anchor that dened and shaped his life. He was a staunch and responsible caretaker of our late father’s properties and ensured that they were well maintained. He was a man deant and unwilling to settle for less and a good Auditor who diligently served mother Ghana in any institution he was assigned to audit. He lived a principled life underpinned by a strong sense of right and wrong. He spoke out when it really counted. His strong principles did not allow him to let anything wrong stand unchallenged. He never let anyone, or anything stand in the way of making things right. We can only imagine how much more he could have accomplished in life were it not for his unfortunate illness which incapacitated him. Nonetheless, he was striving to pick up the pieces and be content with the state he found himself and move on with his life. But lurking death decided to lay its icy hands on him and here we are mourning him. We the siblings can rest our minds assured that he is in a better place where there is no pain. He is at peace with himself; we understand that, however, we wished we could explain that to our hearts. Hmmm, it is not easy to lose a precious brother, an illustrious son and a gem to the Parker-Allotey family. If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, we would walk right up to heaven to bring him home again, but the Good Lord knows best, and his ways are not our ways, meanwhile, who are we to question God for what he went through before his sudden demise. At a point when his health deteriorated, and he bounced back after the surgery, and was discharged from the hospital after being on admission for a long time, we thought he was going to stay around with us but it was not so. The Late SETH NII ADOTEI PARKER-ALLOTEY

Seth’s untimely death has brought a lot of pain and anguish to us and it is difcult to get someone like him to ll the vacuum created among us. He was like a pillar to the family and we will forever miss him. Even though, he is away in the body, his spirit still lingers on and will still be with us. We promise to be guardians to the family he has left behind. He has fought a good ght and his crown awaits him as he travels to meet his maker. As we grief, we take consolation from Isaiah 57:1-2 which reads, “The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart, devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace, they nd rest as they lie in death. May his soul rest in an everlasting peace in the bosom of the Almighty God, until the trumpet sounds when both the living and the dead shall be raptured. SWEDRU GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL

TRIBUTE FROM STAFF OF SWEDRU GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. “ Yes, says the spirit, that they may rest from their labour and their works follow them” (Revelation 14:13) It is with great sorrow that staff of the hospital are here this day to mourn the departed brother, Mr.Seth Parker- Allotey whose good work has drawn people from all walks of life to his funeral. In fact, death has laid his icy hands on a friend, father and a good colleague and a vacuum created may be difcult to ll. Mr.Allotey was transferred from Winneba Municipal Hospital to Swedru Municipal Hospital on 16th March, 2012 and assumed duty on the 26th of the same month.

health, he tried his possible best to shuttle between Accra and Swedru for work. The most commendable attitude Mr.Allotey exhibited, though being sick was putting up smile all the times as though nothing was wrong with him. Nevertheless, he was not perturbed about his condition and always consoling himself with positive inner feelings; that was his secret. Francis Bacon said,” Men fear death as children fear to go out in the dark”. Indeed, what we fear most and pray is that it should not come near us, has visited us and taken away our dear one at the time we needed him most. As we mourn ingrief, we also take consolation from the fact that the all-wise God who knows what is good for us and he gives and takes at the right time has done what is perfect. So we say glory be to his name.

Mr.Seth Parker-Allotey was loving, friendly, humorous and industrious. He was willing to assist others to do their work. His conspicuous patience and encouragements have made many of us work better. We will miss him dearly on his special skills in attending to his ofcial duties.

Onuapa, you have worked and nished your earthly assignment which you did diligently. May God give you rest in Abraham’s bosom. Yaa wo ojogbaŋŋ!!

INTERNAL AUDIT DIVISION

TRIBUTE BY THE INTERNAL AUDIT DIVISION OF GHANA HEALTH SERVICE “The secret thing belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law” Deuteronomy 29:29 The entire Internal Audit fraternity of the Ghana Health Service received with shock the news of the demise of one of its patriots Seth Parker-Allotey. The news spread to all Internal Auditors across the country, and the Internal Auditors WhatsApp platform was chocked with the sad news. We quickly contacted the family and it was conrmed that indeed, our colleague had gone to be with the Lord. To the world, Setho, as we affectionately called him might be just an ordinary person but to the staff of the Internal Audit Division of the Ghana Health Service he was one of the great pillars the Division depends on to undertake its activities. He was one of the foundation members around whom the Internal Audit was formed, when the Ghana Health Service was established. Setho started his career with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department and was seconded to the Finance Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. He was later posted to Ministry of Health, Internal Audit Unit. He was one of the few staff who opted to join the Ghana Health Service, Internal Audit Division upon inception. Setho was attached to the Princess Marie Loiuse Hospital (PML- Children’s Hospital) in Accra as the Internal Auditor. He was later transferred to the Central Region where he was posted to the Winneba Gov’t Hospital as the Internal Auditor. By dint of hard work, he rose through the ranks to the grade of Senior Auditor and was re-posted to the Swedru Gov’t Hospital as the Internal auditor until his demise. He was a mentor and coach to new staff he worked with due to his rich experience in the eld of internal auditing. When he was at the headquarters most of the staff he partnered with to work in the regions had the opportunity to gain from his expertise in revenue audit, which he acquired from Korle-bu Teaching hospital. Due to his high integrity, hard work and above all, rich knowledge and experience in the audit work, every Audit Team wish to have him in their team. During his working life, punctuality to ofce, rmness and seriousness to every duty assigned him were some of his hallmarks. It was therefore no surprise that when his health started failing him and

everyone thought he would slow down to work, he deed his health status and was reporting to work. Setho, we cannot fathom why you are departing this earth so soon; but all that we have to say is to thank God for lending you to your family and the Internal Audit Division of the Ghana Health Service for all these years. We agree with the song writer when he said; our strength their grace; our rule their word; Our end, the glory of the Lord (MHB 608) Setho, Rest In Peace!! It is our prayer that the Lord grants you eternal rest. Daa, rest in eternal peace! Daa, da yie! Daa, yaawɔ ojogbaŋŋ

Hymns A&M 235

A&M 231

Oh, what the joy and the glory must be, Those endless Sabbaths the blessed ones see; Crown for the valiant, to weary ones rest God shall be all and in all ever blest.

‘For ever with the Lord’ Amen; so let it be Life from the dead is in that word ‘Tis Immortality Here in the body pent, Absent from Him I roam, Yet nightly pitch my moving tent A day’s march nearer home.

What are the Monarch, His Court and His Throne. What are the peace and the joy that they own? O that the blest ones, who in it have share All that they feel could as fully declare!

My Father’s house on high Home of my soul, how near At times to faith’s foreseeing eye Thy golden gates appear Ah; then my spirit taints To reach the land I love The bright inheritance of saints, Jerusalem above.

Truly Jerusalem name we have shore Vision of peace, that brings joy evermore Wish the fulllment can sever’d be ne’er, Nor the thing pray’d for come short of the prayer

‘Forever with the Lord’ Father, if ‘tis Thy Will, The promise of that faithful word Even here to me fulll. Be Thou at my right hand Then can I never fall; Uphold Thou me and I shall stand, Fight and I must prevail.

There, where no troubles distraction can bring, We the sweet anthems of Zion shall sing While for Thy grace, Lord, their voices of praise, Thy blessed people eternally raise.

So when my latest breath Shall rend the veil in twain By death I shall escape from death, And life eternal gain. Knowing as I am known, How shall I love that word. And oft repeat before the Throne, ‘For ever with the Lord’

Low before Him with our praise we fall, Of whom and in whom and through whom are all Of whom the Father: and in whom, the Son: Through whom, the Spirit, with Them ever one.

HYMN 240

A & M HYMN 609

Pleasant at Thy courts above In the land of light and love Pleasant at Thy courts below In this land of sin woe Oh, my spirit longs and faints For the converse of Thy saints, For the brightness of Thy face For the fullness, God of grace Happy birds that sing and y Round Thy Altars, O most High

Safe home, Safe home in port Rent cordage, shatter’d deck Torns sails, provision short, And only not a wreck: But oh! the joy upon the shore To tell our voyage—perils o’er The prize, the prize secure! The athlete nearly fell Bear all he could endure And bear not always well But he may smile at troubles gone Who sets the victor- garland on.

Happier souls that nd a rest. In a heavenly Father’s breast Like the wandering dove that found No repose on earth around They can to their ark repair And enjoy it ever there.

No more the foe can harm No more of leaguered camp And cry of night alarm And need of ready lamp And yet how nearly had he fall’dHow nearly had that foe prevail’d

Happy souls! their praises ow Even in this vale of woe Waters in the desert rise Manner feeds them from the skies On they go from strength to strength Till they reach Thy throne at length At thy feet adoring fall Who has led them safe through all

The lamb is in the fold In perfectly safety penn;d The lion once had hold And thought to make an end But one came by with wounded side And for the sheep the shepherd died

Lord, be mine this prize to win Guide me through a world of sin Keep me by thy saving grace Give be at thy side a place Sun and shield alike thou art Guide and guard my erring heart Grace and glory ow from thee Shower. O shower them Lord on me

The exile is at home O nights and days of tears O longings not to roam O sins and doubts and fears What matters now grief’s darkest day The King has wired those tears away.

Take my life and let it be Consecrated Lord to Thee Take my moments and my days Let them ow in ceaseless praise

Take my hands and let them move At the impulse of Thy love Take my feet and let them be Sweet and beautiful for Thee

Ps 39 Behold, thou hast made my days as it were a span long; and mine age is even as nothing in respect of thee; and verily every man living is altogether vanity. For man walketh in a vain shadow and disquieteth himself in vain, he heapeth up riches and cannot tell who shall gather them. And now, Lord, what is my hope; truly my hope is even in thee Deliver me from all mine offences: and make me not a rebuke unto the foolish. I became dumb and, opened not my mouth; for it was thy doing. Take thy plague away from me; I am even consumed by the means of thy heavy hand.
