Healthy Life - Advantages of Jumping Rope

Did you know that by jumping rope you can burn up to 700 calories in 1 hour, depending on your weight? For example, a person whose weight is 150 lbs. burns over 650 in an hour. It’s quite effective exercise if you want to stay healthy and in a good shape. In the US jumping rope became popular a long time ago, along with the fashion for a healthy lifestyle. In addition, from the 80s it even became an independent sport. Almost every professional boxer and basketball player uses jump ropes in his training. In addition, a definite advantage of jump rope is that it’s simple and accessible to everyone, at any time and place. According to the expert’s point of view, jump rope is considered to be even more effective than swimming, tennis or cycling. Like in any form of physical activity it’s better to start with easy exercises. You should increase your physical activity slowly, step by step every day. It’s best to rest in between sets and take a few minutes to breathe and let your heart rate recover. Particular attention should be taken by people that are overweight or obese, as well as those who suffer from heart disease. In addition to the usual jumping rope, you can alternate landing first on the left, then on the right foot or make double jumps, in which the rope is turned over feet twice. The more varied the jumps are, the more muscles are involved in the training. In order to achieve visible results of such training you should do it for at least 10-15 minutes a day. Bob Kommers, who decided (at 36 years of age) to shed some of his 290 lbs, chose jumping rope for this very purpose. After several months of daily workouts he managed to lose 130 lbs. Note, however, that Bob's personal record was 13 hours of continuous jumping.
