Matt Painter named Univ. Games coach
Due to the USA Basketball announcement on Thursdays Jan. 20th, Purdue head men's basketball coach Matt Painter, (before was assisting the 2009 USA U19 World Championship Team), has been chosen as the head coach for the 2011 USA Men's World University Games Team. "It's always an honor to work with USA Basketball," admitted Matt Painter. "My experience with the U19 team in 2009 is one that I value greatly. The goal of any USA Basketball team is to represent your country in a first-class fashion and win a gold medal, and I'm excited for the opportunity to pursue that goal in China this summer ‌ It's going to be a great experience working with coaches whom I respect as much as Cuonzo Martin and Brad Stevens," Painter added. "They're hard-working, driven and passionate coaches, and they'll play a vital role on this team." Taking into account his sixth season as Purdue's head coach, Painter is regarded as one of the best and most-respected coaches in the college game. "Matt Painter is an outstanding young coach who has already made great contributions to USA Basketball," Boeheim said. "It will be a great asset to have him on the staff again." The 2011 World University Games are planned to be held from August 12 till 23 in Shenzhen, China. Created by http://www.dcnlive.com/, Original in http://blog.dcnlive.com
