PGMAG: Terra, welcome to today’s interview with Lady Anita.

TR: Hello and Thank you very much for having me, it is a true pleasure to be with Lady Anita!

PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

TR: I am the Founder and President of African American Women In Cinema.

PGMAG: As a woman in leadership position, what could be done to encourage more women to get on the leader board in the marketplace?

TR: It would require those who are in the position of Power to create opportunities for those who are following in their footsteps.

PGMAG: What is your message for world leaders?

TR:

Look out for those who are coming up in the market place. Lend your support, be the bridge. By doing so, could only enrich your Legacy further.

PGMAG: Please tell us about your involvement in other projects such as being a judge and …

TR: I was selected to judge for the US, Emmy Awards and the Student Academy Awards. It was such an honor being able to view all the great work out there. In addition, I have just Executive Produced two documentaries. The first one is called, “What’s in a Name: The Alfredo Versace Story,” and the second one is call, “The Legendary Marion Williams.”

PGMAG: Tell us more about African Women In Cinema Organisation (AAWIC).

TR: African American Women In Cinema (AAWIC) organization is a US, nonprofit organization that serves as a continuous support for the vibrant work of women filmmakers of color for the past several decades. AAWIC provides a platform showcasing the aligning experienced and novice filmmakers, directors, producers, screenwriters and/ or actors. Our mission is to expand, explore and create business opportunities for minority women filmmakers throughout the entertainment industry. It is the goal of AAWIC to give artistic women a path to fulfilling their dreams through showcasing their talents, exposure to peers’ interaction, and mentoring by established professionals. Presently, we have several programs that we are doing. The first is our Monthly AAWIC Educational Series, featuring industry professionals giving unique insight to the attendees chosen profession and the second program is our “Honey Bee campaign.” The Honey Bee campaign gives a million people globally an opportunity to be a “Mover and Shaker” in our organization by donating $1.00 (USD). The support will assist with additional opportunities for women of color filmmakers to have their talent seen and their voices heard, in addition it will provide a learning pathway for our next generation of story tellers (young girl filmmakers).

PGMAG: What would you say were your biggest motivation to succeed in life?

TR: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He still continues to be a tremendous motivation in my life for “inspiration and perseverance.”

PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently?

TR: I would not have panicked!

PGMAG: How do you create work/life balance?

TR: I set a schedule and always list what is high priority first and I also include down time.

PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self?

TR: “Keep going, you’re on the Right Track!”
