PGMAG: Julian, welcome to today’s interview with Lady Anita.

JR: Thank you so much for inviting me Lady Anita. I’m delighted and honoured to be here.

PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

JR: Hi Everyone. I’m Julian Robus. The accidental creator of Happy Onion Living. A proven 3-step system that allows you to get rid of stress, anxiety, depression and unhappiness - naturally.

I’m a Happiness & Stress-free-living skills Mentor. And a self-realised Spiritual Teacher.

My Story - in a nutshell

I was born in the UK. Had a rather unfortunate childhood. (Which I’ve since discovered laid the foundation for life-long unhappiness and depression).

I was raised and educated in Germany. Came back to the UK aged 15.

We currently live on the S.E. corner of the UK. In a little house by the sea.

I’ve been married since 1986. We have two grownup daughters and 4 grand-monsters aged 7–11. And a little dog called Looney.

I started my working life as an engineer, but soon fell into high level technical sales.

In December 2008 (age 45) after too many high-pressure job roles and decades of battling stress, anxiety, depression and the general overwhelmingness of modern day life. It all became too much and I lost the will to live. I didn't want to be here anymore. Which made no sense whatsoever, because I had everything.

Growing up I’d seen the aftermath of suicide that families have to deal with. So for the love of my family I somehow managed to find the strength and courage to carry on. And give it one last go to see if I could find a way out of my misery.

I just wanted to be happy and live life with ease.

I’ve never liked alcohol, don’t smoke or take drugs. Never believed in Doctors or medication. So I had to find a natural solution.

After meeting Jim Rohn in my early 20’s I became fascinated and totally obsessed with the person development genre. I was going to be a millionaire :) I studied and implemented anything and everything I could find for 23+ years.

But none of it helped one bit with what seemed like a hopeless predicament. I wanted to know how to be happy and at peace, from up-time to bed-time.

Thankfully I’m a natural born problem solver and for once in my life being as stubborn as an Ox made me the perfect candidate for solving the impossible - Genuine, lasting, happiness.

Like many people I had unknowingly bought into societies recipe for HAPPINESS. “Get good grades, build a great career, buy a new car, a big house. Make lot’s of money, get a beautiful wife, have lots of nice holidays, 2 kids and a dog - THEN YOU’LL BE HAPPY - B.S.

When none of that worked I start distracting myself with endless shopping trips. Buying loads of stuff I didn’t really want or need. Driving too fast. Over eating. Binge watching TV etc etc etc.

I didn’t know it back then, but all these were self-distractions. Unrecognised attempts to escape thoughts, feelings and emotions. And to try and fill the big empty feeling inside = UNLOVEDNESS.

Over the years I’ve learned the hard way that there is only one way to genuine happiness. Become peaceful inside, reconnect with and live from your true self.

When all of my personal development stuff didn’t works I started looking further afield.

In my desperation I was prepared to try anything.

And I did: NLP - EFT - Life coaching - Hypnosis - Reiki - Yoga. All great stuff, but ultimately empty in the long-term.

Eventually, in 2010, I tried proper meditation. BINGO.

Massive improvement in my stress, anxiety and depression levels. In fact I was so blown away by it that I retrained and became a stress-reduction, mindfulness and meditation instructor the same year.

But still, something was missing. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD.

All in all my little search turned into a 9 year journey of self-discovery. Non-stop trial and error and 1000’s of hours of deep meditation.

Eventually I developed the right combination of strategies and techniques to clear negative thoughts and feelings. Stay calm, happy and productive. And handle life with ease every day. Now I help others free themselves too.

PGMAG: In your capacity as a leader, what are the keys to creating work/life balance?

JR: 1. I really struggled with this for decades. I either had it all together at work, or at home. One was always going great, whilst the other was in bits.

I’ve had two burn-outs and almost a nervous breakdown from pushing myself way too hard for far too long. And for what? The next new motorbike, car or house - THAT WILL MAKE ME HAPPY. These are all endless no-win MindGames unknowingly bred into us by our society. They take us further and further away from happiness.

How many super successful people do we hear about every day. Business people, musicians, TV personalities, film stars and sports superstars, who have everything. More money than they know what to do with. Yet they are miserable. Despite all their success. They feel lost, confused about life, lonely, incomplete and unfulfilled.

What’s really going on? UNLOVEDNESS. They’ve gotten to the end of the rainbow, they’ve found the huge pot of gold – but no lasting happiness, no contentment, no inner peace.

How many of them get addicted to alcohol, drugs, gambling etc etc. And then end up going from one partner to the next, looking for happiness. Or one rehab to the next. Or sadly in some cases even committing suicide.

All we need for happiness is to understand what negative thoughts and feelings really are. Why they come up and how to clear them. And establish inner peace, the KEY to reasonless lasting happiness, joyful living and contentment.

The “YOU MUST BE RICH, FAMOUS & SUCCESSFUL TO BE HAPPY RECIPE” obviously does’t work. When are we going to catch on?

In my experience. The key to work/life balance is knowing how to live ONLY in the moment. And how to stay peaceful inside, at work, rest and play. Genuine happiness, contentment, health and productivity all flow from inner peace.

PGMAG: Please tell us more about the ‘3-step’ system which you have created.

JR: We are living in a media created stress, anxiety, depression and unhappiness epidemic and it’s getting worse. We are being manipulated and controlled by greed, fear and scarcity.

The Happy Onion Living program (H.O.L) is dedicated to the relief of human suffering from the Human-condition and the troublesome three. 1) Mind/thoughts, 2) Feelings and 3) emotions. Mind is totally misunderstood and therefore unmanaged. It is the root cause of all of our stress, problems, unhappiness and 90+% of our health issues.

H.O.L. is a self-liberation system – it’s the ultimate lasting-happiness and stress-free-living program.

Although I’ve mainly worked with business owners and entrepreneurs up until now. HOL’s real mission is to transform the happiness and mental well-being of young adults and teens for generations to come.

PGMAG: How can people effectively develop the mindset of living in abundance, and increase happiness in their lives?

JR: Use the Happy Onion Living system every day. Build it into your work and life.

Mind = thoughts. MIND is the whole problem. Happiness, joy, peace, love and abundance are our true nature. Society has skilfully (Temporarily) tricked us out of them.

That’s why mental health is an ever-worsening situation. Everyone is out there trying to fix a broken or dysfunctional mind. MIND IS THE PROBLEM.

Genuine lasting effortless happiness comes from the inside out. When we peel away the layers of dysfunctional programming society dumped on us. HAPPINESS resurfaces all on it’s own. Naturally and effortlessly.

As for mindset: Learn how to go-with-the-flow of life. Accept that you are not driving this mystery tourbus called life. You are merely a passenger sitting in the back, looking out of the window. Do your very best in each moment. Without harming yourself, others, or our ONE PLANET.

PGMAG: What is your message for world leaders?

JR: Please, for your own sakes, remember that KARMA is not a myth. Stop robbing the populace. Stop your lying and double standards. Start serving the people with respect, common sense policies, honesty, humility and benevolence. Instead of chasing your own fame and fortune at our expense. Put kindness and love into all your thoughts and actions.

PGMAG: Please tell us about your programme and how people can access them.

JR: I currently teach 1-to-1 in-person or over zoom.

Group classes are also available.

I’m writing up the Happy Onion guidebook as we speak.

There’s going to be a board-game for teens, parents and schools. And a cartoon series for young children.

PGMAG: How do you stay motivated when life happens to you?

JR: I accept what is. Maintain inner peace = happiness. Go with the flow of life 24/7. And do whatever is required to the best of my ability. Without harming myself, others or our one planet.

PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self?

JR: You were right. Live simply and love everyone to stay happy.
