REASONS TO READ THE WHOLE BIBLE IN 2017
ADAPTED FROM MELISSA KRUGER, TGC ONLINE
The Bible is the Word of God given to His people so we can know Him, obey Him, love Him, and grow in Him. It is our authority, sufficient for our lives and our church, and God’s perfect revelation of His plans and purposes for His creation.
Reading the Bible in a year helps us… Go places you normally wouldn’t go… would we really choose to read Haggai?
Come down from our theological “hobbyhorses…” The word of God sharpens our theological precision. It softens us in some areas and strengthens our resolve in others.
See the big picture of redemption history… we can better connect what we read in Deuteronomy with what we read in Hebrews to see how God’s plan fits together.
Enjoy the surprise ways God meets us... Like an old friend who knows just what we need when we need it, the Lord will meet us in surprising ways as we place ourselves in His word.
Learn new and unexpected things about God… Create a healthy habit of daily Bible reading... One of the best things about reading the Bible getting the whole picture of Who God is will through in a year is that it builds a regular habit help us to know Him and love Him more. of daily Bible reading. Having a certain amount Avoid reading the Bible as a self-help manual… apportioned for the day makes it easier to pick it up and read. Following a reading plan encourages a hopeful, listening posture that asks, “What do you have for me today?”
