Re-envisioning Kingston Gullies as a Community Asset This project proposes a new infrastructure network that can solve the problems of existing gullies as well as stitch New Kingston, Downtown Kingston and Harbor Front together, with the intent of re-integrating people and nature. The network will serve as a city sponge to ecologically improve the dangerous situation with gullies that the surrounding neighborhoods are currently facing.

Gully in Kingston
Safety & Sanitation are the key issues to improve the quality of life in Kingston
10 minutes rainfall causes lethal oods
Over 6,500 bottles collected in 2 hours
The critical factor in improving the ecology of Kingston Harbor and having harbor-front development is to solve the problem s origin at the gullies. Therefore, it is important to use gullies as a natural drainage system in order to drain sudden rainfall out to the harbor as quickly as possible, while maintaining Kingston s ecological environment at the same time.

Informal settlements usually squat on the places nearby the gullies. There is lack of useful open space among poor communities in Kingston while stadiums and schools occupy vast lands.

Art as a Trigger to Reprogram Abandoned Post-industrial Infrastructures
Industrial waterfront of both Bualo and Brooklyn largely have continued a pattern of disinvestment and decline in 20th century. Our proposal is to create a hybrid space where artists and communities can be merged in a cultural and educational experience.
