Norbord Norbord is a leading manufacturer of wood-based panel products. Our products are used extensively in the construction and furniture industries, both by professionals and by DIY enthusiasts. Our aim is to supply a high quality, environmentally friendly product. The wood used in Caberboard is a mixture of recycled timber and fresh wood from sustainably managed forests This means that the full Caberboard range is allowed to carry the FSC mark of sustainable management. Caberboard Caberboard is a high-quality particleboard made by bonding woodchips together with a resin under heat and pressure. This produces a very tough panel with an even surface. Available in three versions – Caberboard, Caberform and Caberfloor – the product is ideal for a wide variety of applications in both dry and humid conditions in the housebuilding and furniture sectors.

The product range Caberboard Caberboard is available in two grades: one for construction (Caberboard P1) and one for furniture (Caberboard P2). Moisture-resistant versions are also available, as Caberboard P3 and Caberboard P5 respectively. These two panels provide the ideal material for a wide range of applications including permanent formwork, living room and bedroom furniture, kitchen worktops and kitchen and bathroom furniture.

Caberfloor Caberfloor has been specially designed for quick, trouble-free floor construction in the housebuilding sector, providing an excellent base for different types of flooring. Caberfloor is available in a moisture-resistant version (P5) for use in dry and humid environments such as bathrooms.

Caberform Caberform is a moisture-resistant (P3) particleboard which is designed for the construction of temporary professional concrete formwork. The board is coated on either one or both sides with a special UV acrylic varnish to produce a very even surface which provides a particularly high standard of finish.

Storage and assembly tips Installing Caberfloor Tongue and groove panels Tongue and groove panels are laid across the joists with the short edge resting along the centre of the joist. We recommend that joints are bonded with a moisture-resistant adhesive. Square-edged panels Square-edged panels are laid along the joists with the long edge at the centre of the joist and noggins under the short edge. The panels are secured every 20-30 cm along all contact surfaces using chipboard screws which are at least 2.5 times as long as the panel thickness. N.B. Depending on the load, the 18 mm board is suitable for joists which are a maximum of 45 cm apart and the 22 mm is suitable for joists which are a maximum of 60 cm apart.

Joints An allowance must be made for expansion or contraction due to an increase or decrease in moisture in the atmosphere. Users should therefore leave a 2 mm gap per linear metre between the floor and wall, with a minimum of 10 mm. Storage Particleboard panels should preferably be stored flat in a dry, sheltered place and in stacks of 8 panels, separated by 15 cm wide bearers spaced an equal distance apart (70-100 cm). If the panels are stored outdoors (not recommended), they must be stacked on a level base and protected with a waterproof tarpaulin or similar covering.

Investing in the environment Norbord is committed both to its customers and to the environment. That’s why all our wood comes from sustainably managed forests. Our Scottish plant manufactures to the standards set by the Forest Stewardship Council and Caberboard therefore carries the FSC mark of sustainable production as standard. Over the past 25 years we have invested heavily in environmentally sustainable technologies such as air-cleaning systems and recycling facilities. As much as 50% of the energy we use comes from our own Norbord biomass power plant. By conserving and reusing materials and resources, we safeguard the environment and at the same time keep our costs down. In turn, our customers benefit from a sustainable, quality product with an excellent price/quality ratio. All Norbord production facilities are ISO 14001 certified.
