No ramo da Energia, a nossa atividade principal é a produção de grupos electrogéneos, com potências entre os 8 a 3500 KVA, e centrais de produção de energia elétrica até 50MW com as marcas Grupel e Cymasa.
In the area of Energy, our main activity is the production of standard power generators, with powers between the 8 and 3500 kVA and power plants up to 50 MW, with the brands Grupel and CYMASA, for the production of electrical energy.
Através da empresa Grupel, Grupos Eletrogéneos, S.A., o Grupo Omnisantos desenvolveu elevado nível de conhecimento e uma vasta experiência no fabrico destes equipamentos, desde 1976.

Concerning the metalworking, we are specialized in the manufacture of canopies and chassis for power generators, metal frames and boxes for telecommunications and gas applications. Temos 3 unidades de produção diferentes, localizadas tanto em Espanha como em Portugal, entre as quais se concentram todas as linhas de produção que temos disponíveis. No total, são mais de 40.000m2 de área de produção, que nos permite melhorar a nossa capacidade de produção, otimizar o nosso tempo de resposta e entrega dos nossos equipamentos e, assim, melhorar a satisfação dos nossos clientes.
We have three different production units, located both in Portugal and Spain, among which we concentrate all the product lines we have available. In total, there are more than 20.000 m2 of production area that allows us to improve our production capacity, optimize our response time and the delivery of our equipments and, thereby, improve the satisfaction of our customers.

A unidade de produção da Grupel está situada em Aveiro (Portugal), tendo mais de 24.000m2 de área, preparada para a produção, vendas e aluguer de grupos electrogéneos.
Grupel plant is located in Aveiro (Portugal) and it has more than 24.000 sqm area prepared for the manufacture, sales and rental of generators for electricity production.
Fundada a 7 de Janeiro de 1976, a Grupel, ao longo dos anos tornou-se líder no mercado em geradores a diesel produzidos em Portugal, com uma quota de produção de mais de 80% do mercado português.
It was created on January 7th 1976 and through the years it became the market leader in diesel generators manufacturing in Portugal, with a production quote over than 80% of the global market.
A Grupel, tem além disso, uma forte presença internacional, especialmente nos mercados Africanos, Europeus e da América Latina, que representam atualmente 70% do volume de negócios da empresa.
Grupel also has a strong international presence in African, European and Latin American markets that currently represent around 70% of the total turnover of the company.

ABOUT GRUPEL Grupel manufactures a wide range of power generators fitted with high quality components. The company has a large experience in the manufacture of this type of equipment, with power from 8KVA to 3.500KVA, destined for the production of electricity. Grupel generators can be presented on an open base frame or with sound protection (canopy) in a soundproof version. The control panel allows booting the generator manually and/ or automatically. It also allows the operation of multiple generators in parallel or synchronized with the network.
Our team has the know-how to perform any kind of installation, which includes both standard generators as well as tailor-made solutions for any particular situation. The high level of demand from our customers requires the company to be equipped with the best and higher technical resources, in order to be able to respond under the most adverse conditions to the most diverse situations. Um grupo electrogéneo é um equipamento que converte energia mecânica em energia elétrica. De uma forma geral, consiste num motor e um alternador acoplado, e montados numa base comum conjuntamente com baterias, tanque de combustível, painel de controlo e silenciador.
A generator is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. Generally speaking, it consists on an engine and an alternator coupled to each other and mounted on a common base frame along with batteries, fuel tank, control panel and silencer.
O grupo electrogéneo pode ser fabricado em diferentes versões: chassi, insonorizado, contentorizado, em reboque, marítimo e portátil.
The generator can be presented in several versions: base frame, soundproof canopy, container, road trailer, maritime and portable.

O motor é o componente do grupo gerador responsável por produzir a energia mecânica, que fornece ao alternador. Esta energia é produzida através da combustão de diferentes combustíveis, como gás, gás natural, gás propano, gasóleo e outros. O motor pode ser refrigerado a água, a ar ou a óleo.
The engine is the generator component responsible for the delivery of mechanical energy to the alternator. This energy is produced by the combustion of fuels like gas, natural gas, propane gas, diesel and others. The engine can be water cooled, air cooled or oil cooled.
A Grupel tem vindo a construir laços fortes com o fabricante PERKINS, uma empresa com 80 anos de experiência no fabrico de motores. Cada motor é desenvolvido para melhorar a produtividade e performance. Os motores Perkins, são especialmente preparados para climas adversos, de modo a satisfazer os requisitos e normas solicitadas pelos nossos clientes. Os motores Perkins estão disponíveis de 8 - 2.500KVA.
Grupel has created a stronger and narrower bond with Perkins, a company with 80 years of experience manufacturing engines. Each engine is designed to improve productivity and performance. Perkins engines are specially prepared for different climate adversity, so that they satisfy the requirements and standards demanded by our customers. Perkins engines are available from 8 - 2.500KVA.

Uma nova legislação está a ser introduzida na Europa, América e outros países do mundo para reforçar a redução de emissão de partículas (PM), como óxidos de nitrogénio (NOx), hidrocarbonetes (HC) e monóxido de carbono (CO). Existem diferentes níveis de emissão, dependendo da potência do motor. Com as reduções planeadas para os próximos 5 anos, os fabricantes de motores utilizados pela Grupel iniciaram um ciclo de desenvolvimento de motores que cumpra com a legislação. Os seus elevados níveis de tecnologia também trouxeram benefícios operacionais interessantes, e ao mesmo tempo mais amigos do ambiente.

New legislation is being introduced in Europe, America and other parts of the world to enforce the reduction of particulate matter (PM), nitrogen oxides (NOx), hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) in engine emissions. There are different levels of emission, depending on the power output of the engine. With the additional reductions planned for the next five years, the engine brands used by GRUPEL have started the development of engines that will comply with tougher legislation. Its higher levels of technology will also deliver appreciable operating benefits and, at the same time, being more environmental friendly.

O alternador é responsável pela produção de corrente alternada (AC), com a frequência baseada na rotação do rotor e no numero de polos magnéticos. O movimento do rotor é assegurado pela energia mecânica produzida pelo motor.
The alternator is responsible for the production of alternating current (AC) with a frequency that is based on the rotational speed of the rotor and the number of magnetic poles. The rotor movement is ensured by the mechanical energy produced by the engine.
Existem diferentes fabricantes de alternadores, tais como: Leroy Somer, Marelli, Mecc Alte e Stamford.

A escolha do alternador depende da finalidade e condições de trabalho do grupo gerador. O alternador mais utilizado pela Grupel é o Stamford, devido à sua reconhecida qualidade, inovação e fiabilidade. O painel de controlo é a unidade responsável pela monitorização e proteção dos grupos geradores Grupel. Pode ser considerado a “alma” do grupo gerador. Está colocado no chassi em versões abertas, ou integrado na canópia ou contentor nas versões insonorizadas.
The control panel is the unit responsible for the monitoring and protection of Grupel generators. It can be considered ‘the soul’ of the generator. It is placed on the bench in the opened version of generators or integrated into the canopy or container in the soundproof versions.
A versatilidade e fiabilidade são as características principais do nosso painel de controlo, permitindo a todos os grupos geradores ser convertidos em diferentes tipos de utilização, através da simples alteração do painel. AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH (ATS)
Um quadro de transferência de cargas faz a comutação entre a fonte principal (normalmente a rede) e a fonte secundária (normalmente o gerador), se a fonte principal falhar. Os quadros de transferência de carga são operados automaticamente e são usados também para interligar geradores que operam em alternância. Recomendamos a instalação do quadro de transferência de cargas quando o grupo gerador funcionar em regime de emergência.
An Automatic Transfer Switch is an electrical switch that reconnects electric power source to the load from its primary source (usually the network) to a standby source (usually the generator) if the primary source fails. The automatic switches, as per its name, are automatically operated and also used for connecting generators which operates in dual mutual standby. It is recommended to install an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) when a backup/ standby generator is present.

Um disjuntor é um interruptor automático desenvolvido para proteger circuitos elétricos de danos causados por sobrecargas e curto-circuitos. A sua função básica é a de detetar uma falha, e imediatamente, interromper a passagem de energia elétrica.
A circuit switch breaker is an automatically operated electrical switch designed to protect the electrical circuits from damages caused by overload or short circuit. Its basic function is to detect a fault condition and, due to that, to immediately discontinue electrical flow.

O chassi é a estrutura de apoio onde assenta o gerador. Sustenta o motor e os componentes elétricos (alternador, controlador, etc). Esta estrutura é desenvolvida e construída de maneira a receber os componentes do gerador, e suster todos os impactos mecânicos quando o gerador é operado. Também está inserido no chassi o tanque de combustível.
The chassis is the base frame of the generator. It sustains the mechanical (engine) and electrical components (alternator, controller, etc). The base frame is designed and built in a way to receive the generator components and to accommodate all the mechanical impacts when the generator is operating. It also holds the fuel tank in the case of diesel generators.
(Existem diferente possibilidades de fornecimento do gerador: chassi (gerador aberto), num chassi com canópia (gerador insonorizado), e num contentor.

Os grupos geradores Grupel estão divididos em 5 gamas : Gama Prime Power, Gama de Emergência, Grupos Geradores Contentorizados, Gama Especial e de Aluguer, Torres de Iluminação.
Grupel’s generators are divided in 5 different ranges: Prime Power Range, Emergency Range, Heavy Range, Rental and Customized Range and Lighting Towers.
Para produzir cada gama de geradores, a Grupel dá especial atenção a características específicas, dependendo da aplicação, de modo a que cada gerador cumpra a sua função com a máxima performance, com a máxima vida útil, ao mesmo tempo que cumpra todos os requisitos da sua aplicação.
To produce each range of generators, Grupel gives special attention to particular characteristics, depending on the application, so that the generators can properly accomplish its job maximizing the performance, with a long lifetime, and, at the same time, ensuring the complete fulfill of the application requirements.

Existem 3 importantes parâmetros que devem ser tomados em consideração para a escolha de um grupo gerador:
There are 3 important parameters to be taken into consideration to define which generator to choose:
Aplicação (Contínuo ou Emergência)
Application (Main or Standby)
A aplicação em contínuo é considerada quando o grupo gerador trabalhará como fonte de alimentação permanente.
The so called Main (or Principal) application is considered when the generator is working as a constant source of energy.
A aplicação em emergência é designada quando o grupo gerador é usado com fonte de alimentação no caso de falha da rede, funcionando por isso ocasionalmente.
We define Standby application when the generator is the used source of energy during a failure of the main power supply.
Energia A escolha correta da potência fornecida pelo grupo gerador, e ponto mais crítico da decisão. Para definir corretamente a potencia fornecida pelo grupo gerador, e importante a determinação exata das cargas que serão alimentadas. Quando são definidas as cargas, também e importante considerar os possíveis aumentos futuros devido, por exemplo, a expansão das instalações. Para um grupo gerador funcionar de uma forma ótima este deveria alimentar cargas que correspondam de 35% a 75% da sua potência. As condicionantes climáticas são fatores adicionais que afetarão a potencia fornecida pelo grupo

Power The correct choice of the output power of a generator is the most critical part of deciding the correct one. To properly define the output power of the generator, it is important to determine the load. When defining the load, it should be considered the possibility of increasing it due to, for example, expanding the installation. The optimal load for a generator would be between 35% and 75% of the generator output power. The climatic parameters are additional factors that will affect the output power of the generator. Prime Running Power is the maximum power a generator has during a variable power sequence for an unlimited number of hours under stated ambient conditions. Load factor of 70% (80% maximum) of the published Prime Power over each 24 hours period. 10% overload is available limited to 1 hour in 12 hours but not to exceed 25 hours per year.

Limited-Time Running Power (LTP) – output power with constant load 500hours/year: Limited-time Running Power is the maximum power that a generator delivers for up to 500 hours per year under stated ambient conditions. Only 300 hours can be continuous running with varying loads. No overload is available.

Number of phases and Voltage Three-phase or single-phase generator can provide different output voltages. The table bellow identifies for each frequency (50Hz and 60Hz) the available output voltages of GRUPEL generators.

CENTRAIS DE ENERGIA / ENERGY CENTRAL Para os países emergentes com graves deficiências na produção e distribuição de energia elétrica, devido a centrais de produção caducas, antiquadas ou mesmo inexistentes, a Grupel tem vindo a apresentar soluções de elevada potência, temporárias ou permanentes, em média ou baixa tensão e com períodos de fabrico e implementação muito reduzidos.
For emerging countries with serious disabilities in the production and distribution of electric power, due to obsolete power plants, outdated or even non-existent, Grupel has been presenting highpowered solutions, permanent or temporary, in medium or low voltage and with greatly reduced manufacturing and implementation periods.
Hoje existem centrais de fuel pesado, gás, carvão, nafta, etc...que exigem um longo período de fabrico e um rigoroso cuidado na instalação. Como alternativa a Grupel desenvolveu centrais de grande potência de 2MW a 100MW com voltagens entre os 1kV a 35kV mas a diesel refinado de mais simples instalação e curtos períodos de fabrico.
Today there are heavy fuel plants, gas, coal, naphtha, etc ... which require a long period of manufacture and a strict caution in the installation. As an alternative Grupel developed high power plants from 2MW to 100MW with voltages between 1kV to 35kV but of refined diesel of easiest setup and short manufacture periods.

Os reboques são robustos e oferecem uma elevada qualidade de construção, de forma a ser a escolha ideal para mobilidade da energia.
Grupel trailer generators have a steel structure according to standard EN 10025, with welding by Metal Active Gas, and with an anti-corrosion treatment by immersion according to standard ISO1461.
