T’ai Chi I and II – UPDATED This class is for beginner and intermediate students.T’ai chi is an ancient Chinese internal martial art that trains the mind as well as the body. This martial art combines vigorous and gentle movements that require a high degree of concentration. Western scientists and medical researchers have described t’ai chi as both “meditation in motion” and “moving medicine. “ Traditional Chinese medicine uses t’ai chi for prevention and acupuncture for cure. Students will learn how to look at their job searches the way recruiters and company executives do. It will show them what students from Harvard and other top institutions do that those nearing graduation at other universities do not. There are many people, both on and off campus, who can make a critical difference in getting students excellent job offers. These people are identified and their approaches are geared toward enlisting help are provided. Preparation on how to utilize multiple pitch pages is discussed, as are techniques for becoming expert interviewees. The course stresses why prep clubs can give one an edge in getting the job of their choice and how to get the bonus that can make a huge financial difference. This course starts with an overview of jobs that take students traveling, of which are jobs that are often easy for participants to get; includes free travel and lodging; and pay up to $800 per year, which is sometimes tax exempt. Ways of obtaining free air travel are reviewed ; these include the use of air mileage points, jobs as air couriers, assignments as mystery shoppers for flights in the U.S. , and for hotel stays throughout the world. The next emphasis is on free lodging. In addition to mystery shopping hotels, the course covers getting paid to sleep as a caretaker (and The Caretaker Gazette), free religious lodging programs, free condo stays using Eurail passes to sleep free, and home exchanges (including contact information for the three best exchanges). While the emphasis is “free,” some very inexpensive ways to travel are also presented. Air travel buddy passes, standby fares, senior and companion fares, and foreign-issued airline tickets are all discussed. Lodging hostels, college/university housing, YMCA/YWCA, and low-cost internet sites are also reviewed. The use of air consolidators to substantially reduce the cost of international travel is also discussed. The course closes with a discussion of “why less is more”.

Photography Hands on Workshop (Individual Session) This class is one of four individual courses. There are no classroom lectures; these sessions will be spent taking pictures and evaluating them. Travel Writing Travel Writing teaches participants how to become successful and wellpaid travel writers. Students will be promoted to a higher level after one semester of study with satisfactory performance. This course will start with Chinese pronunciation symbols, i.e., Zhu-In-Fu-Hau. No prerequisite is required.

Conversational Russian I Russian Level I develops four communication skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Registration Confirmation & Room Assignment A confirmation will be mailed to you within 48 hours, along with your room location. Classes are located on campus unless noted otherwise.
Course Fees Professional & Public Programs is committed to offering quality programs at affordable prices. Course fees are based on an estimated minimum number of students. Professional & Public Programs is self–sustaining; course fees cover all expenses. No support is received from state or local taxes.
Participation Guidelines Participants, or their representatives, who behave in a manner which is disruptive to the learning process, interferes with the well–being of other participants or staff, or causes damage to University or contracted facilities, may be asked not to return to the class.

Register Early A class is closed when it reaches maximum enrollment, so please register early. Classes that do not meet the minimum enrollment will be canceled.
