You made it poss ible for me t o present three c h e cks, totaling $272,811, to the Memo ri al A ssociation a t its annu al m ee tin g on February 22, 1961.

Brethren, it was a great opportun i ty for me to s tand before Grand Lodge repr esen tatives from all parts of th e country and proudl y announce for yo u:

The second check was for $ 6 ,84 1, representi ng $ 1 for each initiate in 1960.

The third c h eck wa s f or $260, 000 r e prese nting $ 1 fo r eve r y Maso n in P e nnsyl vania, as of Febru a ry 22 . There was a c oupl e of thousa nd dollars ex tra in th e thi rd c heck for the m e mber s we wis h ed we had.

Among th e communications from o th e r Grand L odges were requ ests fo r fraternal r ecog nition from the Grand Lodge of Finland and the Grand Lodge of Luxemburg, which we re referred to the Co mmittee on Correspondence, as was furth er information relative to s imilar pre vious req u ests from the Grand Lodge of Belgium and the United Grand Lodges of Germany.

Quite a few Lodges are holding extra meetings in th e beautiful Maso nic Temple at the Maso nic H om es at Elizabethtown. Th e R W. Grand Ma s ter announced that th e co ntributi on from the Lodges holding such meetings has now been reduced from $ 100 to SSO.

Th e R. W. Grand Mas ter also announced that th e ve r y popular and interest ing color m ovies on the "Mas onic H omes at El izabe thtown " and th e " Youth Prog r a m," wh ich are no w s h ow n only in our Lodges will be avai lab le to oth er groups after n ext Jul y l. The American H osp ital As s ociation has lis ted the Phi ladelp hia Freemas ons' Memorial Hospital as a ge ri at ri c unit, and rightfull y so

The hospital care constitutes a fo ur-ph ase method of treating and handling geriatri c cases. They are:

l. Observation Admitting Floor

2. Defi n itive Acute Treatment

3 Prolonged Con valescent Care

4. Permanen 24-hour Custodial Care (T otal available beds-300) 15 beds 105 beds 90 beds 90 beds

The fir s t s tage in admitting Guests to th e Hosp ta is performed on the ob servation floor, to take care of illnesses for app r oximately three-day periods.

I f a Guest has an illness that e xtends b eyond this point, he or s he will be transferred to the central defin itive a r ea where all the cases of acute, subacute and chronic illnesses, together with surgical cases, are cared for and maintained.

The enti re consulting staff of 100 vis i ting physicians utilizes and spends professiona e ffort s to reconstitute the ir illnesses, and or recomm end su rge ry to be p e rform ed by three cooperating in s tituti ons-the Lancaste r General H ospi tal , H a rri sb urg Hospit al and the Pol ycl inic Hos pita l of H arrisburg.
