National Civil War Museum THURSDAY, JAN. 23 Pick-up: 12:30 p.m. Return: 4 p.m. Cost: $14

The National Civil War Museum is a unique educational and entertainment facility. It caters to history enthusiasts, Civil War buffs, those who are proud to be Americans and those who want to know more about America’s greatest tragedy. Tours are self-guided. This museum has announced an addition to its temporary exhibit space, “Boots and Saddles: Horses in the Civil War.” The exhibit examines the employment of horses and their indispensability during the war. Please note: walking is required for this trip. 3

Matt Daniel Band reinvigorates old songs with a new twist. The brothers' duet on keyboard and drums starts off with a bit of ragtime-stride, and then enters the era of swing and boogie-woogie. They then embark on a rock ’n’ roll frenzy, while explaining the history and icons behind the movement. The performance continues into the style of New Orleans piano - a style with roots steeped in boogie-woogie, gospel, classical and funk, with a slower approach to the blues.

This adventure story set in the world of Mark Twain begins when Zak, a young man with Down syndrome, runs away from the nursing home where he lives to chase his dream of becoming a professional wrestler. When Zak meets Tyler, a small-time outlaw on the run, they wind through deltas, elude capture, drink whiskey, find God and inspire others. This movie is rated PG-13 with a run time of 97 minutes.

Join Ambassador Jennifer King and her service dog, Nova, for an informative and interesting presentation that will include a 15-minute video snap shot of the program. United Disability Service (UDS) Dogs are trained from pups for over two years by a team of dedicated volunteers and professionals.

Humor is part of the human condition, and we all experience and enjoy it. But what is it? Can we define it and study it to understand it better? This part of the series will cover humor theory by examining theories of relief, incongruity and cleverness. Next, we will investigate the ethics of humor. Who can tell an ethnic joke? Are there moral topics that are taboo in humor? Join us for a series of DVD lectures on this topic. Each session will include time for group discussion and maybe a chuckle or two! The American West and its development played a large part in U.S. history between the American Revolution and the beginning of the 20th century. These lectures will summarize the migration of large numbers of people, the discovery and exploitation of resources, and the impact of the American West’s culture on the rest of the U.S. and on Native Americans. The first part of this series will cover the period after the Revolution, when “the west” was just beyond the Appalachians, to the Civil War. Join in for a series of DVD lectures on this topic. Dover Conley and Tom Watson are a country duo act mixing with rock and pop. With 30 years of experience performing locally in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland, the two perform some of country’s most memorable hits from the classic artists, like George Jones and Merle Haggard, to more contemporary favorites with their broad repertoire of classic country favorites and current Billboard singles.

Each year, the Chancel Choir, Carillon Bell Choir, soloists and instrumentalists join to take one more look at the music of Advent, Christmas and beyond. The National Civil War Museum caters to history enthusiasts, Civil War buffs, those who are proud to be Americans and those who want to know more about America’s greatest tragedy. Tours are self-guided. This museum has announced an addition to its temporary exhibit space, “Boots and Saddles: Horses in the Civil War.” The exhibit examines the employment of horses and their indispensability during the war.
