A new series starting in March, “Children’s Folklore and Wonder Tales,” will take us back to childhood and young adulthood when we first heard such stories as “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty” and “Rumpelstiltskin.” Delve into the meaning behind them, explore the differences in them across cultures and discover if they are always teaching stories. The lectures discuss many stories, so you don’t need to come to all the lectures in the series. Come when you can or when you’re just curious. The facilitator is resident Dennis Strain. 6

This concert is located at the Highland Presbyterian Church in Lancaster and is scheduled for 7 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken at intermission.
Oya Dursun-Özkanca, Ph.D., professor of political science and endowed chair of international studies, will discuss how Turkey’s relations with the West are at an all-time low. Scarcely a day passes without a report or headline on the front pages of leading newspapers questioning Turkey’s reliability as a Western ally. The widening gulf between Turkey and the West and the increasing number and growing complexity of the issues over which the two sides differ make it imperative to understand the dynamics of their relationship with the European Union, NATO and the United States. This talk delves into the causes of the strained relationship and makes projections about its future. Professor Dursun-Özkanca recently published “Turkey-West Relations: The Politics of Intra-alliance Opposition” (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press) and will have copies available for purchase and signing at the event.
