NOTE FROM ADMINISTRATION

A Gift to Masonic Village: How to Get it Where You Want it to Go David Whitenack, CFP®, director of gift planning

As March brings hope for spring, holiday giving becomes a distant memory. However, Masonic Village is a special place where the spirit of giving endures all year long, with reminders of our generous residents every place we look. If you have given or are considering giving to Masonic Village, know that any gift is appreciated and will go to support needs on this campus. Maybe you have given using one of our “Giving Catalogs” available in print and online (see left). These catalogs describe services and items provided to our residents and our children. Gifts given through these catalogs help offset those charitable budgets. Maybe you have given using the “Wish List” published online at MasonicVillages.org/Donate-Now or printed in the Village Voice and Pennsylvania Freemason magazines. These gifts provide items that are “wished for” but are only acquired if a donor makes the designated gift. Many of you are making current gifts through automated monthly giving, Sell Chapel offering envelopes, direct transfers from IRAs or appreciated stock. Others have planned a gift to Masonic Village at Elizabethtown in Wills, on beneficiary forms or gift annuities or in charitable trusts. No matter how you give, Masonic Village follows a disciplined process for recording and following donor designations. The key is to be clear on your giving goals and include designation information with your gifts. You should also contact me to review and document your desired designations for planned gifts that may be coming through Wills or beneficiary paperwork. The following preapproved gift designations may be used to direct funds to support this campus:

• “Masonic Village at Elizabethtown” or the “Masonic Village Endowment Fund for the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown” - assists Masons and their widows who move here under fraternal care

• “Masonic Tree of Life” - assists our retirement living residents needing funds for monthly resident fees

• “Compassionate Care, Elizabethtown” - assists

our residents in the Masonic Health Care Center

• “Masonic Children’s Home,” “Masonic Children’s Home Endowment” or the “Masonic Children’s Home Advanced Education Scholarship Fund”

• “Bleiler Caring Cottage” or the “Bleiler Caring Cottage Endowment Fund”

• “Employee Emergency Assistance Fund at Elizabethtown”

Residents also have an opportunity to designate gifts that specifically address resident life and wellness here at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.

• “Stewart Titus Music Fund” - brings the joy of special musical events to campus

• "Arline M. Hughes Caring Endowment

Fund” - helps residents in our Masonic Health Care Center with special equipment, personal items or therapeutic support

• “Sell Chapel” - Supports four pastors and a

minister of music who provide spiritual care to all residents and the greater community

• “Hospice” - provides care and support for terminally ill patients and their families

And two new funds for resident life and wellness in 2019:

• “Wellness Fund” - supports initiatives

that promote social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, vocational, intellectual and physical wellness for retirement living residents

• “Life Long Discovery Endowment Fund” -

encourages and enables retirement living residents to engage in group activities focused on obtaining new information, experiences and skills.

Residents are also invited to establish their own named endowment to support a specific dimension of resident wellness. Proposals may be developed in consultation with me. Your gifts make a difference and bring joy to your friends and neighbors at Masonic Village! Thank you for keeping our mission alive! You can reach me at ext. 33437 or dwhitena@masonicvillages.org.
