Todd DePastino: Japanese Americans in World War II

Todd DePastino will present a lecture on the internment of Japanese Americans in World War II. On Feb. 19, 1942, FDR issued Executive Order 9066, ordering the incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans living on the West Coast, two-thirds of whom were Americanborn U.S. citizens, in 10 relocation camps. Come hear the story of this dark chapter in American history.

The Shriners Band of Pittsburgh is a unit of Shriners International, located in Cheswick, PA. Shriners are known for their enjoyment of life and commitment to philanthropy. The “World’s Greatest Philanthropy,” Shriners Hospitals for Children, a network of 22 pediatric specialty hospitals, is operated and maintained by the Shriners. The Band has a heritage going back over 100 years and consists of musicians from the Pittsburgh area.
