ART CLASSES

Evelyn Geyer

This month, we spoke with Evelyn (Evie) Geyer, who entered the Art Studio one day saying she didn’t know how to paint but wanted to try watercolor. Asked why watercolor, she said she loved buying watercolor paintings. Three of her purchased prints of Paris were too light, so she painted over them to make them more vibrant. That was her only experience with watercolor painting.

In our classes, she is always trying to find the perfect shade of green and purple, her favorite colors. She also loved the paper collage workshop here. But it was when she tried her hand at pastel painting that Evie found her niche. “If my pastel colors don’t go well, I can more easily erase them and start over,” she said. Evie enjoys the instructors, the fun atmosphere at the Art Studio and the fact that everyone works at their own pace and skill levels.

We encourage all residents to stop by the Art Studio. See the work our student artists have completed. While there, sit down and try a small project during open studio hours. You may love it and come back for our fall classes.
