Led by Alice Lieb and Sibyl McNulty. How would you like to see “red, white and cute” on your front door? Transform a wreath, a wide-brimmed hat, a dinner plate or a frame into a fabulous eye-catching patriotic door hanger. The Art Committee will supply everything you need to make your own dazzling, one-ofa-kind USA creation. We guarantee two hours of fun and a snack. Please bring your enthusiasm and a pair of scissors. Everything else is free! Register with Karen Hammond; limit 15 people.

Experimental Art Mediums with Sibyl McNulty

Thursdays

10 a.m. - Noon

Art Studio

We will watch repeats of the lectures “Masterworks of American Art” and “In the Footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh.” We will continue through the rich collection of art-related DVDs and VHS tapes in the Art Studio archives based upon viewer interest. Then, we’ll exercise the right sides of our brains, starting with adult coloring books. We’ll challenge ourselves each week with something new (Origami? Etagami? Gamigami?).

Meet our Resident Artists

Meet three of our newest converts to the Art Studio. Denny and Tina Muia have been coming for the past few months. Tina says she can tell what mood Denny is in by the brilliance of the colors he puts on his watercolor paper. Marcia Brackin joined us with no knowledge or training. She has tried every medium — watercolor, acrylic, drawing, pastel — and likes them all. She says coming to the Art Studio “takes me to another place.”

LIFELONG LEARNING

Mondays, at 4 p.m., in the Assembly Room.

We will start in the mountains, learning about flora and fauna, as the source of the fresh water flows to its ending in the seas.

Aug. 19 | Caves

Caves are known as the last frontier and some, as in Mammoth Cave, have not found their end.

Aug. 26 | Deserts

A third of the earth’s surface is covered by deserts. From the air, we can see how varied they really are.
