Tai Chi has been described as meditation in motion, gentle flowing movement performed in a slow, focused manner. Anyone can participate, as Tai Chi places minimal stress on muscles and joints. Therefore, it is especially suitable and beneficial for older adults. The benefits of Tai Chi include decreased stress, increased energy and improved flexibility and balance.

The Village Workshop is a non-profit club giving Masonic Village residents the space for woodworking, crafting and minor repairs. There are a wide variety of hand and power tools available for use. Also, there is a separate “finishing room” for painting and varnishing. There are enough workstations for several people to work at the same time. All are welcome!

Todd DePastino concludes his series on World War I with a discussion of a peace so disastrous that it virtually guaranteed a resumption of war. This “Peace to End All Peace” was known as the Versailles Treaty, which Woodrow Wilson negotiated in 1919. The end result was an impoverished, humiliated, but not entirely broken Germany, a Soviet Russia and a newly isolationist United States.

While the principal focus was the treatment of the wounded, it’s important to understand how providing this care impacted the practitioners. This research study sought to answer the question: What was the war experience like for nurses who cared for the soldiers?
