NOTE FROM ADMINISTRATION

Employees and Our Mission of Love Mark Pagano, director of human resources

At Masonic Village, we value the employees who live out our Mission of Love every day. What makes our employees special? How do we maintain a low turnover rate? What benefits do we provide employees? The answers to these questions demonstrate our employees’ dedication and recognize the efforts we make as an organization to support them and their families. The average long-term care community has a turnover rate of 30 percent. Meaning, if there are 1,000 employees, 300 employees would leave every year, and 300 new employees would replace them. At Masonic Village, this is something we aggressively try to avoid, and we are proud to report our turnover rate is well below industry average. Last year, our average turnover was 17 percent. We utilize a state-of-the-art cloud based system called “Workday to track our employee data and turnover in real time. This software also allows us to accurately track the reason an employee leaves and his or her length of service. To have a turnover percentage that is lower than our competitors is encouraging for our organization and for you as residents. So, what differentiates Masonic Village from competitors? What do we do differently that our employees value? Masonic Village values the knowledge, skills and expertise our employees bring to their jobs. We work hard to recruit the best staff we can and work even harder to maintain a highly educated and motivated workforce. This is evident through our average employee length of service, which is just over five years. There are many ways we show our employees we value them and their time spent fulfilling our mission.

For example, take home meals are provided free of charge through Food Services to retirees, employees and their families who are in need of assistance. Monetary assistance is also provided to employees through the Sell Chapel Employee Assistance Fund, a fund which many of you provide charitable dollars to. This fund is designed to assist employees and their families with necessities like rent, auto repairs, food, utilities, medical bills and more. Employee wellness is also important, because healthiness leads to happiness. Masonic Village provides employees with discounted programs at the Baird Wellness Center and opportunities to earn dollars for participating in annual wellness programs. In addition, Masonic Village sponsors classes, activities and fairs each year that focus on promoting physical, emotional, financial, spiritual and mental wellness. Employees are recognized every fifth year of service during a special luncheon. In fact, we honored two employees this year who have each served Masonic Village for 45 years. We look forward to celebrating our employees in new ways in the future. As an organization, our time spent investing, caring and valuing our employees provides you with the best care possible. For more than 145 years, our not-for-profit Mission of Love has been reflected in our care and services and in the hearts of our employees.

YOUR MASONIC VILLAGE

PH A RM ACY Masonic Village first opened its pharmacy in July 1977. It has evolved over the years to adapt to new technologies, as well as Masonic Village’s growing population. Each week, on average, it packages approximately 10,700 individual packets of medications for about 575 residents across the campus. The pharmacy team includes one pharmacy manager, three staff pharmacists, eight pharmacy technicians, two finance coordinators and one intern from the University of the Sciences, Philadelphia. Staff are on-call after hours and weekends. WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE THE PHARMACY AT MASONIC VILLAGE? •

Convenient delivery Monday-Saturday. Orders received by 2:30 p.m. will be delivered the same day. Pick-up available until 6 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Switching pharmacies? Set up a consultation with Masonic Village staff, who will help work with your doctor and insurance company.

Full-service pharmacy – pick up your prescriptions and other over-thecounter medicine, creams and remedies. Prices are competitive, and often much lower, than other drug stores.

Personalized services – our pharmacists and technicians learn to know your name, your needs and your concerns.

The pharmacy will be located on the first floor of the Masonic Health Care Center at the Clinics entrance through December. In January, it will move to its new location in Sycamore Square Marketplace (stay tuned for details on an open house next month). Hours to drop off and pick up prescriptions are Monday - Friday, from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Saturday, from 2 - 4 p.m. Cash, check or major credit cards are accepted. Call ext. 33554 for more information.
