Holiday Tales
As the cold weather settles in, it’s nice to remember the warmth of the holidays. Join Dennis Strain as he recreates the holiday stories that have stood the test of time: a Hanukkah tale from Russia, a grandmother’s tale from England, a lover’s tale from New York, a magic tale from Scandinavia, a New Year’s tale from Slovakia — all kindling the warmth that carries us through this cold season.
Lancaster Marimba Ensemble
FRIDAY, JAN. 7, 7 P.M. Brossman Ballroom
Formed in 1991 by Daniel Heslink and Dale Ginder, the Lancaster Marimba Ensemble continues the rich vein of marimba performance in Central Pennsylvania. Featuring the traditional styles of Andean, African and Mexican peoples, the group also performs arrangements of classical European repertoire. Mr. Heslink has now retired, but the group continues making music under the able direction of marimba musician, Stephanie Smith. Masonic Village welcomes the return of this talented group of musicians with their beautiful marimbas for a fine evening of music.
Movie Showing: “The Scarlet and the Black”

The true story of Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty (Gregory Peck), a courageous Irish priest working in the Vatican during the German occupation. O’Flaherty devotes all his time and energy to hiding refugees and Allied POWs from the Nazis, building a network of hundreds of people to help him with his efforts. This movie is not rated and has a run time of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Masonic Village Physical Therapy Presents Parkinson’s & Movement Disorder Diseases

Meet the Masonic Village Physical Therapy team as they discuss Parkinson’s and other movement disorder diseases. Learn how physical therapy can help with some common issues. A second presentation will take place on Monday, Jan. 24, at 10:30 a.m., in the Keystone Room.
Manor Winds Concert
THURSDAY, JAN. 13, 7 P.M. Deike Auditorium
A Lancaster-based ensemble, Manor Winds is comprised of five musicians who come together to rehearse in a historic farmhouse on Manor Street in Lancaster. At home in traditional and non-traditional settings, Manor Winds strives for professional performances of both standard and modern wind quintet repertoire. Manor Winds wishes to share their love of music and collaboration with their surrounding community.

Engage in a lively discussion during these weekly episodes.
A Country Winter Bash with the Make Mine Country Band
SUNDAY, JAN. 16, 2–5 P.M. Brossman Ballroom
A Masonic Village favorite for several years, Shelby Nestler and the Make Mine Country Band performs a variety of music as diverse as the members of the band themselves. Although their roots are in classic country, they are just as comfortable playing a classic rock tune or a rousing polka. Join us to get out together and kick up our heels for a great time. How to Publish a Book with Herb Ridyard
Resident Herbert Ridyard will discuss the book publishing process and cover topics such as finding a publisher, editing and designing, filling out forms and the highlights of his publishing journey. This program will be repeated on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 10:30 a.m., in the Keystone Room.
Keystone Brass Quintet
FRIDAY, JAN. 21, 7 P.M. Deike Auditorium
The Keystone Brass Quintet was founded in 1976. More than 350 performances and 45 years later, two of the five founding members remain with the ensemble. The cohesive nature of the ensemble and the richness of their sound is due in a large part to the high level of musicianship of the unchanging personnel. Renaissance and Baroque music from the 15th and 16th centuries, romantic melodies, Broadway show tunes, big band music, marches, opera and contemporary literature all find their way into programs presented by this talented group of musicians.
Painting with Twist
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 26, 1 P.M. Lodge Multipurpose Room, $40
Enjoy step-by-step instructions with an experienced and enthusiastic artist, and you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind creation. This is fun art, not fine art!
