Ron “Eagle Elvis” Fasano, a virtuoso Elvis impersonator, will take the stage, bringing a little bit of “Hound Dog” and a lot of rock ‘n’ roll to Masonic Village. To make this event even more special, Elvis will arrive in style, chauffeured in “Lucy,” a fully restored 1978 Chevy Silverado named after Compleat Restorations’ co-founder, Lucy Ellis. This classic truck is a symbol of the company’s commitment to community and heritage. “We’re thrilled to bring a little ‘Jailhouse Rock’ to the residents of Masonic Village,” said Stephen Zywko, CEO at Compleat Restorations. “It’s our way of saying ‘Thank You’ to this incredible community and honoring the legacy of the King.”

As the cold weather settles in, it’s nice to remember the warmth of the holidays. Join Dennis Strain as he recreates the holiday stories that have stood the test of time: a Hanukkah tale from Russia, a grandmother’s tale from England, a lover’s tale from New York, a magic tale from Scandinavia and a New Year’s tale from Slovakia — all kindling the warmth that carries us through this cold season. This performance will be repeated on Friday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m., in the Keystone Room.

The Evolution of American Federalism, Part 2 MONDAY, JAN. 6 – FEB. 10, 1 – 2:30 P.M. Life Long Learning Center

Over 250 years, the pendulum of federal versus state power has swung back and forth, and it continues even today. The Evolution of American Federalism is an opportunity to step back and examine American political history through this eye-opening lens. Professor Joseph Hoffmann, of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, takes us into the heart of American law and political theory, exploring topics that are part of the political landscape today. Part 2 topics include reproductive rights, public health/ Homeland Security, environmental protection, voting and women’s rights. Resident John Hope is the facilitator. Call ext. 14509 to register.

The Greater Harrisburg Chorus is a championship group of women of all ages who love to sing. They will entertain you with a variety of songs spanning the decades. How Railways Transformed the World, Part 2 MONDAYS, JAN. 6 – FEB. 10, 2:30 – 4 P.M. Life Long Learning Center

Railways radically changed the way we experience the world. In this course, taught by Emory University professor Patrick Allit, we’ll explore the story and impact of railways. Part 2 topics include railroads in the World Wars, literature, arts/photography, post-war America and high-speed trains. This course is part history, part technology, part travel and all fascinating. Songs From the Farm: Matthew Dodd MONDAY, JAN. 6, 2 P.M. GLH Solarium

Dressed in period costume with period backdrops and props, Matthew Dodd is a musician, vocalist and storyteller. He takes listeners back in time, bringing history to life with stories of people and events from the Civil War, Old Canal Days, the American Revolution, the Wild West or other themes, all while playing the guitar, banjo, harmonica and mandolin. Matthew was invited in honor of Farm Show week and will focus on music and stories reflecting old time farm life and the history of the Farm Show.

Friends Face-off! A Game Show Night with Matt Cleveland TUESDAY, JAN. 14, 6:30 P.M. GLH Solarium

Matt returns to Masonic Village for an evening of game show style fun, as residents are pitted against each other in a “Family Feud” style game of chance. Some residents will compete, while others cheer them on in this evening of team-powered camaraderie and competition. January weather is a great time for indoor games and social activities that bring folks together to share good times with one another.

Olga Vinokur will perform a program entitled “From Great Romantics to American Favorites,” including masterpieces by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Kreister, Gershwin and others. An acclaimed pianist and a dynamic performer on the classical and contemporary music scene, Olga has a reputation for the strength and consistency of her artistry. She has appeared nationally and internationally in major venues including Carnegie Hall, Shangai Prague and King’s Place in London, among many others. Glenn Miller is playing his terrific big band hits again in this stunning musical biography. The great Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson star in this vibrant tribute to one of America’s legendary bandleaders, charting Glenn’s rise from obscurity and poverty to fame and wealth in the early 1940s. The wonderful score swings with the original music performed by the Glenn Miller Orchestra and such musical giants as Louis Armstrong, Gene Krupa, Frances Langford and the Modernaires. The Baird Wellness Center offers an array of cardiovascular and strength equipment, functional training, personal training and group fitness classes. Massage therapy and wellness workshops on mind, body and spirit are also offered. Open daily, from 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. Staff are available Mon. – Fri., 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Group exercise classes are broadcast on MVTV Monday through Friday, in the morning. “Pay as You Go” for year-round group fitness classes on land and in the water with a punch card. ROOSTER WOODSHOP Masonic Village Rooster Woodshop is located on the corner of Freemason Drive and Umbaugh Drive. The showroom is open Monday through Friday, from 8 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m. It is also open on Saturday, from 8 – 11 a.m. There are many assorted items produced by the members. All items on display are for sale, and all Masonic Village residents and employees receive a 15% discount on a showroom item priced $100 or more. The shop can produce custom furnishings and novel items from wood, and members can also perform minor repairs to furniture upon request. Scan the QR code for a link to our Facebook page.

The members of the Rooster Woodshop have a wide range of experience in woodworking. Some of the items are artistic creations, while some are utilitarian, such as a corner shelf or a wall shelf. We also make birdhouses and bird feeders. One of our members makes colorful wooden puzzles for children. If you need a gift idea or something made from wood, please stop in and see us.
