Holiday Folk Tales
THURSDAY, JAN.4, 10 A.M. Keystone Room
As the cold weather settles in, it’s nice to remember the warmth of the holidays. Join Dennis Strain as he recreates the holiday stories that have stood the test of time: a Hanukkah tale from Russia, a grandmother’s tale from England, a lover’s tale from New York, a magic tale from Scandinavia, a New Year’s tale from Slovakia — all kindling the warmth that carries us through this cold season. This performance will be repeated on Friday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m., in the Solarium, GLH.
Three members of the Hiking Club enjoyed a two-week adventure camping, hiking and touring around Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. They travelled over 4,000 miles and hiked over 100 miles as they explored the Great North Woods. Along the way, they dipped their fingers in the headwaters of the Mississippi; hiked to the highest points in Michigan and Wisconsin; visited the northernmost point in the lower 48 (which can be entered by land only by traveling through Canada); and more. Presented by Chris Dunlap and Fred Richter. This program will be repeated on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 2:30 p.m., in the GLH Solarium.

The practice sessions are open to all interested residents for basic partner dance practice, but you may attend solo and dance with other partners who share in the fun of dance socialization.
This a great way to gain confidence and knowledge in a new skillset, or improve on or restore your dance skills if you’re out of practice. There is no charge for the practice sessions, which are resident run and scheduled at the group’s convenience. Contact resident Patty Smith at 717-361-4943 for more information.
Instruction for Basic Dance Steps In addition to the new Social Dance Club, we encourage you to attend the basic ballroom dance classes taught by professional instructors on campus for your convenience and affordability, with three classes per month of the following dances: January classes will cover the Cha-Cha, February will cover the West Coast Swing and March will cover the Tango. You will learn the basic beginner steps of each dance.
New people are welcome, and you do not need a partner to attend.
