Baird Wellness Center 33783

Located in the Freemasons Cultural Center, the Baird Wellness Center offers an array of cardiovascular and strength equipment, functional training, personal training and group fitness classes. Massage therapy and wellness workshops on mind, body and spirit are also offered.

Open daily, from 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. Staff are available Mon. – Fri., 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Group exercise classes are broadcasted on MVTV Monday through Friday in the morning.

SilverSneakers®Classic

This universal class is designed to improve agility, balance, coordination and functional capabilities. Non SilverSneakers® members pay $3 per class (punch card available for purchase). Please pay and purchase punch card at the Baird Wellness Center.

Transform

TUES. & THURS., 10:15 – 11 A.M. Baird Wellness Center Punch card available

This is an ongoing class. Tuesdays will focus on strength and mobility and consist of using multiple pieces of equipment for strength and functional movement. Thursdays will focus on cardio and flexibility and consist of raising your heart rate for a continued amount of time and stretching.

Hatha Yoga

MON., 3:30 P.M. & WED., 10:15 A.M. Lodge Meeting Room Punch card available

This is an ongoing class. We will be on our wrists, arms and knees for certain postures. We will also focus on single leg postures. To prevent injury, if you are not comfortable with any of the above, be prepared to modify based on the suggestions the instructor provides.

Let’s Move with Parkinson’s

The Baird Wellness Center is offering an exercise class designed for adults with Parkinson’s disease. Throughout the eight weeks, we will systematically incorporate brain exercises along with physical exercises to promote neuroplasticity in the brain. Register early, space is limited!

Head Over Heels

WED., APRIL 6 – MAY 25, 1 – 2 P.M. Brossman Ballroom Salon I $64 Register March 14 - 26

This eight-week fall injury prevention workshop will include a pre- and post-fall assessment. Using the assessment findings, a Certified Personal Trainer will assist you with advancing your strength, gait, balance and other functional parameters to reduce the risk of falling and the injuries associated with it. This is a progressive program, and each session will build upon the last. To realize your full potential, we ask you to attend every session. MV Step It Up!

APRIL 18 – JUNE 12 Free Register March 28 – April 9

Are you looking for a low impact exercise? Do you spend a lot of time on the computer? Do you already walk a lot and would like to add another fun challenge to your routine? Well, then this is the program for you! With Step It Up, you will strive to add a specific amount of steps each day to your daily routine. You will need your own tracking device for this program. Water Walking

Low-impact class using a variety of steps, speeds and arm movements to increase the effectiveness of this workout. Also includes exercises for strength and flexibility.

Wave Runners

Low- to moderate-intensity class with an emphasis on cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength and flexibility. Activities include water walking/jogging, standing aerobic combinations, strengthening exercises using resistive equipment and stretching exercises.

Jump start your day with this 45-minute shallow water workout. This class allows you to set goals, improve your aerobic capacity, increase your metabolism and build a healthier heart. You will vary your pace and how hard you work – push your limit, then drop back into your comfort zone, then do it again!

Aqua Fit

Build your cardio fitness, strengthen your core and improve your muscle tone and flexibility with this invigorating shallow water class. You will be kept moving with a variety of activities such as water walking, jogging and strengthening exercises with resistive equipment.

Flohr Pool Open Pool Time

MONDAY – FRIDAY, 1 – 4 P.M. Flohr Pool

Pool capacity is eight people in the water. Pool water is heated to 90 degrees for additional comfort and includes a 6-foot deep well. Spa is heated to 100 degrees. Please note: Must show MVP card for entry to pool and swipe in with key tag issued by the Baird Wellness Center. Call ext. 33783 for more info.

Patton Pool Open Swim/Lap Swim

MONDAY – FRIDAY, NOON – 6 P.M. Patton Pool

Four lanes are open for lap swim, and two lanes are open for free swim. You must show MVP card for entry to the pool. Please note: Must show MVP card for entry to pool and swipe in with key tag issued by the Baird Wellness Center. Call ext. 33783 for more info.

BOOMERS, ZOOMERS and BEYOND!

Would you feel more comfortable exercising at home with a live in-person trainer/coach, via Zoom, rather than attending a class or the wellness center? We have the perfect solution for you: the Baird Wellness Center offers weight training, cardio, body weight circuit, balance, boot camp, yoga, wellness coaching and flexibility/ mobility sessions. Choose the workout(s) you prefer, and you will be guided virtually by a live trainer who will provide you with instant feedback. Minimal to no equipment is necessary, depending on the session(s) you choose. A computer or tablet would be optimal for your sessions. TESTIMONY FROM A ZOOM CLIENT:

“I am a severely immune compromised resident, and being able to meet with my trainer virtually makes my whole week. Zoom coaching allows me to stay well, in my own home, and gives me an opportunity to work out just like I would in the wellness center. Even my dog gets to participate in my trainings.”
