GHMC BUILDING Topic : To design a Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Office. The challenge was to understand the working process, movement pattern, public and officers interaction in a government building and place the cabins accordingly. Site Location : Banjara Hills , opposite KBR Park. Site Area : 4.5 acres. History : The area was dominated by the Nizams. Site Description : The site was originally a forest land with minor contour differences, huge rocks and aged trees.
GROUND FLOOR PLAN
Concept: The chief idea was to play with “solids and voids” The main characteristics of my design are large halls , pools, fountains , water streams , flower beds , gardens and Char Bagh planning inspired by the Mughal Architecture. Elements of nature like tree , water , sunlight are used in the design to bring peace of mind along with positive work culture. A tree located at the central courtyard brings an ambiance inviting people. Two blocks are connected with an overpass which is built above a water body that adds on to create a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere for work. Exhibition is a semi-open space including the display of work done by the Municipal Corporation. FIRST FLOOR PLAN

SITE PLAN
Concept: The idea is to build a sustainable enivronment by -Not cutting the existing trees -Creating an atmosphere of Indian culture by using climate responsive and locally available materials. The design is a free flowing structure since it is planned according to the existing trees and contours. All the blocks are located as per the needs of access, security and views. The site is divided into two halfs-West side is school block and east side is hostel block. The administration block is located at the entrance at south-west followed by school, labs and activity blocks which has the advantage of river view along with good vegetation and ventilation to keep the atmosphere pleasant. The hostel block is located at the north-east for the advantage of river view, air and sunlight in the morning and throughout the day.The dining block is located in the center which is easy to access from the school block and the hostel block.

Chaotic urbanization, rampant construction, absence of effective administrative system, burgeoning legislation and lack of awareness amongst the community has led to encroachment on natural drainage channels, jeopardising the existence of the lakes and tanks in the urban and peri urban fringes, as their ownership is easily manoeuvrable. They are being rapidly converted into residential colonies jeopardising the urban ecological system of the city. Among the 3000 lakes identified by the government several have disappeared entirely with the waterbeds being usurped by land mafia and unscrupulous contractors.

Eco Tourism Design The threat of the IT sector on Durgam Cheruvu has been on a drastic upscale in the last few years. Also the site surroundings which include the rocky terrain is fast disappearing. In this present conditions, conservation of the rocky terrain and the lake is the need of the hour. With minimum interventions, the site and the design is to promote Eco Tourism. The multiple paths cut through the rocky terrain leading one onto the banks of the lake. The lake also with its serene environment would be a welcome break for the IT crowd. A walkway along the lake takes you at certain points along the lake and at various other points protrudes into the lake. One can be at peace with all his senses and experience spaces beyond ocular centrism. The gushing water to the ears, the feel that water can do to your skin will all be enthralling experience for crowd. Also within a walk able radius and well connected by public transport systems, the lake will not be neglected in due course of time. The Eco Tourism Park with its minimum design interventions and footprint on the rocky terrain aims at creating experiences of the lake beyond ocular centric design. The design, hence a wholesome experience for all people of the society.
