WELCOME
Hello... …and welcome to another fabulous issue of Australian Simply Cards. With the summer holidays just about over and the children heading back to school, it’s time to get down to some serious crafting, and you’ll find this issue overflowing with ideas and inspiration to help you do just that. Our free gift is a fantastic score board and we’ve got plenty of inspiration to help you get started with it over on page 14. While you’re experimenting with your free gift, you’ll probably find that sentiments play a key part in your cards. They’re so important to our designs, so Sandie Downey demonstrates how to make a statement with your sentiments over on page 20. With a full year of birthdays ahead of us, there are bound to be a few milestones to celebrate. Melissa Barnicoat has created some gorgeous cards to help you along with those important big birthdays over on page 27. Speaking of big occasions, we’re also focussing on weddings. Handmade wedding invites are always growing in popularity and this issue we have plenty of ideas for the big day on page 42. If you’re anything like me, you’ll love experimenting and getting your hands a little dirty with your crafting projects. Our masterclass is perfect for the messy crafter as we explore acrylic resist. Sue Smyth has created some stunning examples using this technique over on page 34. As well as techniques, we love to stay on top of the trends here at Australian Simply Cards and in this issue, we explore the very popular chalkboard look with some creative designs on page 50 from Teresa Abajo. No matter how organised we are, some occasions simply creep up on us, so if you need an idea for a quick-make card then head over to page 82 where Sarah Cameron puts a new Sizzix stamp and die set to the test, making some super cute cards. Of course these are just the highlights of what we have for you this issue and we have lots more, including all the latest news and the usual tips and tricks. And if you can’t wait for next time, take a sneaky peek at our digital preview of issue 65 by visiting www.ppjump.com/asc65preview So until next month… Happy crafting!

Simply make Trim Coconut cardstock to 1 10.5x29.8cm, then score and fold in half to create a card base. Choose four different patterned 2 papers and cut four strips from each to measure 2x8cm. Make a mark 1cm from the top edge in the centre of one strip. Draw a line from the top-left corner to the dot, then down to the bottom-left corner. Cut along the lines and repeat for all other strips. Cut a piece of Coconut 3 cardstock to 10x14.3cm, then make a pencil mark in the middle, 4.5cm down from the top edge. Using this as the starting point for the starburst, adhere triangles to the panel starting with the middle and working your way round on both sides as shown. Trim away any excess paper. Cut yellow patterned paper 4 to 9.5x10cm and attach to the bottom section of the Coconut panel, then affix it to the card front. Stamp the sentiment in Soft 5 Suede ink, then die-cut around it. Matt onto Spearmint cardstock, then cut around the shape leaving a narrow border. Attach the sentiment piece to the card front as shown using 3D foam pads.
