Gathering locations for groups in downtown Estes Park

Estes Park has become a premier destination for gatherings of friends and family members all converging to celebrate love and marriage. The beauty of the natural environment is electric and as diverse as the groups of people who visit, from various corners of the world, they find a way to come together for love.

Rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, elopement ceremonies and reception groups can include everyone who has been meaningful in the special couple’s lives or consist of only the runaway couple. No matter the following you

bring, Estes Park has a place for you.

A common request is for “meet and greet” space, please note that for any group over 14 or so people, it’s recommended to give advanced notice to the establishment with a plan on how many people are eating and drinking

Hosting groups can be difficult for a restaurant to manage while maintaining their established standards of service, this is why even groups that don’t plan to order food may still need to place a nonrefundable deposit to reserve a space for a large group.

Groups of less than 100 are welcome at Estes Park Brewery, La Cabana Mexican Bar and Grill, Sereni-

tea Tea Room; and groups of more than 100 are welcome at Venue on the Rocks, the Bull Pin, Historic Park Theatre and the Historic Stanley Hotel.

Each of these are unique and wonderful in their own way, below is more detail on each:

Serenitea Tea Room

This lovely location can host up to 30 people and can be reserved in whole. On a regular business day, Serenitea Tea Room opens with

a breakfast/brunch service, followed by afternoon tea for lunch The freshly made food and aoromic teas will have you so comfortable you might wish it never ends. Serenitea is offering catering services for special events and wedding ceremonies, please reach out to Daisy to learn more For tea parties anytime vist Serenitea’s retail location to find their custom loose-leaf tea blends and tea-time accessories just a block away down mainstreet.

A new event Venue on the Rocks

Originally a coffee shop called Coffee On The Rocks, now the space has developed into a gorgeous event venue. The property is nestled beautifully on the river, with a very cute pond that has become a sanctuary for the neighboring wildlife The coffee shop is still up and running, but this will be closed when special events are booked.

“Over the years so many people fell in love with our property and would ask if they could have their wedding here and or rehearsal dinner. With so many people interested in having their event here at our coffee shop we decided to turn it into an event venue as well, which we call Venue On The Rocks,” said Chuck Scott, the owner

Plan the ultimate destination wedding in scenic Estes Park

For the Trail-Gazette

Panoramic mountain vistas provide the picture-perfect backdrop for a destination wedding in Estes Park. Here’s everything you need to know to plan your big day, whether it’s an intimate elopement or a Colorado-inspired outdoor extravaganza.

Spring, summer, winter and fall are all brilliant times to get married in Estes Park and regardless of what time of year it is, the landscape is always beautiful While summer may be the most popular time to walk down the aisle, don’t discount the benefits of planning your wedding in colorful fall, spring bloom season, or in a serene winter wonderland.

Incredible ceremony and reception venues with views

An epic ceremony location, the wide open spaces in Rocky Mountain National Park provide the perfect place to tie the knot. A great option for small to medium size ceremonies, most of the park’s designated wedding sites accommodate up to 20 people and there are a few sites that can accomodate 100 guests. In order to marry in the national park, you must obtain a special permit and you need written approval from the Chief Rangers Office or Concessions Management Office (call 970.586.1209 or email romo fees permits@nps. gov). Book as soon as possible, as these stunning locations fill up quickly.

Another gorgeous option is Hermit Park Open Space,

a Larimer County park with a similar look and feel to Rocky Mountain National Park. Imagine Ponderosa pine forests, wetland meadows and a variety of mountain wildlife. There’s a group pavilion that you can reserve in advance. Located two miles southeast of Estes Park, Hermit Park Open Space requires entrance permits and is open March through mid-December.

There are also stunning lodge and hotel options located throughout the town of Estes Park, where you can host your ceremony and reception in one location Venue options include Black Canyon Inn, Della Terra, Fall River Village Resort, The Stanley Hotel, The Landing at Estes Park, The Estes Park Resort, Taharaa Mountain Lodge, YMCA of the Rockies and more.

For non-traditional, reception-only options try The Barrel, a Bavarian-style outdoor beer garden with a cozy, rustic indoor beer hall, or O’Connor Pavillion, a covered, streamside outdoor area complete with a volleyball court, fire pit and horseshoe pits. For catering options, Jubilations Catering and Bird & Jim Restaurant deliver delectable Colo-

rado-style fare.

Nest Above is Bird’s Nest event space

The second story of the Bird’s Nest will be exclusively yours. We have created a warm, stunning second-story event space Located close to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, the Nest Above is the perfect venue with a rustic modern look framed by beautiful mountain views.

Our upstairs event space is accessible by stairs or lift and can seat up to 80-90 guests.

If additional room is needed we can discuss full buyout of up and downstairs at the Bird’s Nest or cater to a larger event space of your choice.

We host all special events including wedding dinners, rehearsals, bridal lunches, corporate events and family gatherings.

Parties over 20 people must be at the Bird’s Nest and cannot be hosted at Bird & Jim.

Wedding planning tips in Estes Park

Help your guests plan the ultimate vacation while they are in town for your nuptials Take incredible

hikes in the national park, explore Lake Estes, check out attractions like the Mustang Mountain Coaster or Open Air Adventure Park, shop downtown, take driving tours, watch wildlife, enjoy local craft beverages and more. In your invitation, you may want to recommend that your guests add extra days to their trip, so they can enjoy everything Estes Park has to offer.

Estes Park Trolleys is a niche transportation service that is aimed to make your wedding day special with their classic style trolleys. Additionally, the Estes Park Shuttle offers trips to and from Denver International Airport, as well as rides within town. Local tour companies will take you on wildlife watching tours or on guided hikes.

In order to make your wedding official, you will need to obtain a marriage license. Marriage licenses can be acquired by visiting any Clerk and Recorder’s Office in Colorado, including the one located in Estes Park.

For more wedding inspiration, contact the Estes Park Wedding Association ( estesparkweddings.com). The association plans an annual wedding show each winter in Estes Park where you can meet and chat with the local vendors you may choose to work with.

To help plan all those big day details including cakes and caterers, officiants, ceremony and reception sites, florists, photographers and other local vendors, check out visitestespark.com/weddings. You can also fill out a request for proposal from local businesses to provide you with more information. Happy planning!

Finding the perfect venue at The Stanley

With a view of the Estes Valley to the East and a backdrop of the wonderous Rocky Mountains to the West, The Stanley Hotel serves as a quintessential location for any bride and groom looking to spend their special day surrounded by natural beauty.

From open space, nature-based offerings to ambiance immersed, intimate settings, this historic landmark has refined selections plotted all throughout its property. Out of all of its venues, however, perhaps the most grand of choices can be found its latest

The Pavilion

The Pavilion venue at The Stanley comes outfitted with an indoor amphitheater, two ballrooms, three balconies, a pond-side lawn, a patio, two catering kitchens, a proper bridal room and a complimentary honeymoon suite, all-inclusive to those who choose to rent it

The amphitheater section of the venue accommodates up to 299 guests and is the traditional pick for ceremonies in most weddings. The space sits dressed with opulent architecture, a sea of 250 built-in chairs, coruscating chandeliers and a walkway balcony with room for any instrumentalists, vid-

eographers or photographers that one may want to include in the service.

While these inclusions hold a compelling charm of their own, the main allurement of the room comes in the towering glass wall that serves as the backdrop for the ceremony. The transparent barrier gives a clear view to a pond and rock wall flowing

waterfall that sits on the other side of it, and on weather permitting days can open 90 degrees to bring a nature- filled ambiance to the event

Along with the amphitheater, couples desiring to hold their ceremony outdoors have the building’s front balcony and pondside pavilion lawn to choose from. Although these

Shopping for brides and grooms

Planning a wedding requires a lot of details and preparation. There are vows to write, a bridal gown to purchase, a honeymoon to plan and seating charts to prepare, among a plethora of other to-do items.

No matter how much planning even the most organized couple completes, details can be missed and items can be forgotten in the crunch of hours leading up to the big day.

Estes Park may be a small mountain town, but its shopkeepers, distillers, jewelers and hairdressers know how to help brides and grooms make sure no facet of the big day gets overlooked.

Here is just a small list of ideas, tips and retailers ready with the supplies and services you need to help ensure your wedding from the engagement to the 50th anniversary stays unforgettable for the right reasons.

Village Goldsmith for all things rings

The rings are one of the most important details for your wedding. These small tokens play a significant part of the ceremony and symbolize the infinite love you and your spouse will share for the rest of your lives

Why not incorporate your favorite mountain town into those cherished pieces of jewelry?

The Village Goldsmith, located at 235 West Elkhorn Avenue, can design customized matching rings for the bride and groom that incorporate the landmarks of Estes Park and the symbols unique to the couple. For example, use precious stones meaningful to the couple or inlay the outline of Longs Peak into the ring. Custom rings take about six weeks to produce And re-

member to stop into the shop to polish the jewelry, like engagement rings, wedding bands and necklaces, so it sparkles during the ceremony. For more information, visit https://www villagegoldsmith.com/.

Elkins Distilling Co. for groomsmen gifts

Weddings are not just about the brides The men have taken a big step to make the commitment to a life of love and laughter, and they often include their best friends, childhood companions and family members in the wedding party.

Celebrate the momentous occasion with the groomsmen by giving a tasty gift from Estes Park’s first legal distillery.

Elkins Distilling Co., an Estes Park institution since 2016, offers a wide selection of locally produced bourbons, whiskeys, vodkas and sauces made exclusively with Colorado ingredients. A bottle of bourbon for enjoying before the wedding ceremony or a giving a gift basket of Elkins products to your groomsmen can add a special local touch to the wedding.

Elkins also has a downtown tasting room, which offers free whiskey tastings and a food tasting bar for bachelor and bachelorette parties.

To pre-order gifts, email Joe Elkins at joe@elkinswhisky.com.

Mountain Blown Glass for a unique element in your ceremony

Simply Christmas in downtown Estes Park provides a wide variety of Christmas decorations, including ornaments for the newly married.

The process starts with the bride and groom selecting colored glass chips before the wedding Called frit, these chips are then mixed together during the wedding ceremony to symbolize the two families coming together as one. After the wedding, return the mixed pieces to Mountain Blown Glass, where their family of expert glass blowers will create a custom piece, such as an ornament, vase or bowl, with your selected colors.

One-of-a-kind glass gifts, such as hummingbird feeders, vases, paper weights or sun catchers, can also be made for parents, the wedding party and family mem-

bers to mark your special day. For more information, visit https://mountainblownglass. net/

We are honored to have photographed over 300 couples in this beautiful state. Our primary focus is on adventure elopement photography for couples who aren’t afraid of a little adventure and exploration while we photograph

Working creatively while being outside is our passion

and we are always scouting for new and fresh places to work.

In our spare time we are outside. We mountain bike, backcountry ski, rock climb, fly fish and hike.

We tailor each adventure elopement to match our couples’ wishes and we make sure you have a full gallery of images when we’re finished. Get in touch with us, or go to www. joepylephotography.com/colorado-elopement-photographer to learn more.

two spaces only accommodate crowds of 40-50 guests, they allow for an exceptional view of the Rocky Mountains and make for perfect smallscale ceremonies.

When it comes time for reception proceedings, the ground-level Willow Ballroom and second-floor Aspen Ballroom give wedding parties all the room they need to commence their marriage celebration in comfort.

With 8,000 square feet of sweeping hardwood floor between them, the two rooms can accommodate approximately 230 guests with dining tables and stocked bars

included While the Willow room is generally used for post-ceremony cocktail hours and the Aspen used for dining services, clients have free reign to use each as they see fit.

The Stanley provides guests with their own bartenders and liquor items for the reception portion and with a newly added feature to all of their reception venues, clients are free to use caterers and vendors of their choosing as long as they’re licensed and fully insured

For those wishing to book their wedding at The Pavilion or see what other luxurious venues The Stanley has to offer, they can do so by visiting their website at TheStanley Hotel/weddings
