Timothy K. Lynn Sept. 2, 1951 ~ Sept. 21, 2016

Timothy Lynn, of Cañon City lived past his 43rd wedding anniversary and his 65th birthday to pass peacefully on the last day of summer, Sept. 21, 2016. He will be missed by his wife, Judi; son, Keith; two sisters, Terry Smith and Barbara Recktenwald; and dear friends in several countries. At the age of 17, Tim started his professional Timothy K. career in the copy machine industry where Lynn he excelled for 45 years. In his work, he made so many lifelong friends, traveled the globe and was a top salesman with Canon USA for several years running. His passion, other than reaching sales goals, was to revive classic muscle cars and older trucks which he often did alongside both his sons,

Matt and Keith. His great dream was to race the Bonneville Salt Flats at 160 miles per hour in his best friend, Sean O’Brien’s, 1934 Ford Coupe. From the beginning the two men had started modifications on this car together. Although his advanced dementia/ Alzheimer’s prevented him from this speed dream, the car hit its goal just this summer. If you wish to honor Tim’s life we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations might be made in his name to Sangre de Christo Hospice, 601 Greenwood Ave, Cañon City, Colorado 81212. Sarah Matott / Daily Record

The Waffle Wagon has been serving Cañon City since 1981. It moved to its current location in 1996.

Waffle Wagon has been happily serving customers for 35 years Sarah Matott The Daily Record The smell of bacon and coffee infused the air; waitresses quickly went about their work and customers quietly talked amongst one another as they ate their breakfast. It was a typical morning at the Waffle Wagon; a business that has been doing the same thing, with the same food and same routine for 35 years. Lester and Sue Cecil bought the Waffle Wagon in 1981. The Waffle Wagon was first owned by Janey Workman, who also owned the Chili Wagon. The menu is simple, but every day cars fill the restaurants parking lot, as the Waffle Wagon is a Cañon City staple. “It’s really the locals that have carried us through, otherwise we wouldn’t be here,” Sue Cecil said. She said they do get tourism traffic, as well, but during the winter months, especially, it is local customers who keep the business open. Lester Cecil said they have busy and slow days, but that they do see some of the same customers come in every day who order the same thing. “We hope they keep coming for the food,”

he said. Workers at the Waffle Wagon were bustling to clean up the restaurant after finishing their lunch service. Lester and Sue Cecil each agreed that the staff they’ve had at the restaurant is another big reason why they’ve kept their doors open for so many years. “We’ve had a lot of good help over the years,” Sue Cecil said, adding that their kids have all worked in the restaurant at one time or another. “Our oldest daughter still works here,” she said. “When she was younger, she would go around and fill up all of the jelly holders at each table or get tips from customers.” They said that none of their children want to take over the Waffle Wagon when they retire, which they wouldn’t say exactly

when that could be, but they do hope to see someone continue the restaurant. “It’s hard work to keep the place going,” Sue Cecil said. However, for now, Lester Cecil said they will continue providing the service they always have. He said they always try to keep their prices low and to treat their customers well. This past year, he said during a nationwide egg shortage, the Waffle Wagon kept from raising their prices as long as they could. “If we did, it was because other things going up in price, too,” Sue Cecil said. “We also just try and treat everyone who walks in the door nice. “God just really have been good to us all of these years.”

B&M Mobile RV Repair opens in Fremont County Editor’s Note: The name for B&M Mobile RV was inadvertently mislabeled in the Sept. 27 edition A father and son team recently opened B&M Mobile RV Repair in Fremont County. Bill and Matt Dotson saw an opportunity for RV repair in Southern Colorado. Previously, Bill owned Cañon RV, which he closed in 2008. When Bill decided to start this new business, he wanted his son, Matt, involved. Bill has 15 years of experience in this type of work and loves having his son work side by side with him. It creates a family atmosphere. The best part of the business is they don’t work from a shop. They go directly to the customer whenever needed and anywhere the client is located. For example, if a customer has a heater go out while camping, they respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Dotsons said now is the

time to start thinking about winterizing the camper/RV. They make that transition easy by going directly to the client’s home and handling the work. They have the proper equipment on their trailer and finish each job right there. The business inspects and repairs all aspects including but not limited to, roof leaks, electrical, plumbing and winterizing. They want to offer the highest quality of work at the low rates. Bill said they value the relationships they built in the past with Cañon RV, as well as the future ones they want to build into the future. “We guarantee satisfaction on each job and inspect with you at the end of the job to make sure you are satisfied,” Matt said. The father-son team said they feel Fremont County is a wonderful and beautiful retirement area. And they want to make life simple for their customers coming to them for their repair needs. To reach B&M Mobile RV Repair, call (719) 371-0300 or (719) 371-8836.

“Who’s In Charge Here?”

The Bible teaches that God created the universe, set things in order and now rules over His creation. He delegates authority to human rulers on earth and holds them responsible to govern properly (Daniel 2:21). We know that Christians are to be good citizens and be subject to civil authorities: “Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God” (Romans 13:1). Civil authorities are intended and expected to lead wisely and fairly for the benefit and protection of citizens. “For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same” (Romans 13:3). When asked by the Pharisees if it was lawful to pay taxes, Jesus replied, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21). By this Jesus indicated that we can be obedient to God and to civil authorities, also. There may be a time when these are in conflict: what then? When the apostles were commanded by the Jewish authorities to quit preaching the gospel of Christ, Peter’s answer was plain and simple: “We must obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29). How do we apply this today? It may not always be as plain and simple as our illustration. Before one chooses to disobey any civil law, he should be certain his decision is in harmony with God’s Word - the Bible.
