Brandt Lee Bradbury
James Raymond Davis
Brandt Lee Bradbury went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, July 17, 2017 at the age of 53. He was born December 22, 1963 in Cañon City, Colorado to Hadley “Jake” and Phyllis Bradbury, where he was raised, along with his four siblings. Brandt was a 1982 Cañon City High School (CCHS) graduate who went on to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts from the University of Southern Colorado. He later earned a double Master’s Degree in Technology and Education. He married his best friend, first love, and high school sweetheart, Gwen Moore in 1987 and they would have celebrated 30 years of marriage this August. Together, they created a beautiful life and family with their two children, Danika Donovan and Jake Bradbury. Brandt and Gwen both retired after 30 years of teaching in 2016. He was an inspiration and mentor to many during his teaching career in welding, machine shop, small engines, drafting, and woodshop. He also enjoyed coaching football and baseball. He was committed to community service as a volunteer firefighter for 20 years and spent countless hours helping others in numerous capacities. He was the proud business owner of Cañon City K-Lawn and assisted his wife with her business, Fancy That Photography. Brandt’s favorite thing to do was anything that involved spending time with his family and many friends. He enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, riding his Harley, honking his train horn at people, playing pranks, and drinking a cold Bud Light. Brandt was a sweet, kind, and generous person who was full of wisdom and knew how to brighten everyone’s day with his jokes and witty comments. He was an inspiration to everyone through his ethics, values, and passion and was always willing to drop what he was doing to help family, friends, students, and others. His adventurous, ornery spirit and zest for life, along with his love for family and friends, will always be remembered. Brandt is survived by his dearly beloved wife, Gwen; children, Danika Donovan, Jake Bradbury; son-in-law, Mathew Donovan; granddaughter, Audrey Donovan; mother, Phyllis Bradbury; brothers, Hadley (Joan) and Barlow (Sylvia) Bradbury; sisters, Cherie (Bob) Holder, Shelly (Kurt) Stringari; nieces and nephews, Zach Holder, Stacee Klaassen, Landon and Layne Bradbury, Shanna Mitchell, Trevor, Demi, and Trenton Stringari; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Cheri Moore; sister-in-law, Brenda McKay and brother-in-law, Lloyd (Sheri) Moore, Jr. He was preceded in death by his father, Jake Bradbury in 1986. Brandt will always remain a part of the lives and memories of countless relatives, friends, and neighbors who look forward to a reunion in heaven. Memorial service, 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 24, Evangelical Free Church, 3000 E. Main St. in Cañon City. A celebration of life reception will follow at the Holy Cross Abbey, 2951 East Highway 50, in Cañon City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cañon City Volunteer Fire Department, 1475 North 15th St., Cañon City, CO 81212. A memorial fund has been set up at High Country Bank, in care of Danika Donovan. Services have been entrusted to Holt Family Funeral Home. Online condolences @ www. holtfamilyfuneralhomes.com

“I Believe…but”
“And without faith it is impossible to be well-pleasing unto Him, for he that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). Verse 1 defines faith as substance and evidence (ASV) or assurance and conviction (NASV) of things hoped for but as yet unseen. Faith is not just a warm fuzzy feeling: genuine faith will be characterized by obedience and demonstrated by good works: “for as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead” (James 2:26). Hebrews 11 lists several Old Testament characters who demonstrated their faith by obeying whatever God told them to do. Real faith trusts in God enough to obey Him even when circumstances seem difficult or even impossible! One time a man brought his son to Jesus’ disciples. The boy was demon-possessed and the disciples of Jesus were unable to heal him even though Jesus had previously given them the power to do so. When Jesus arrived, the boy’s father seemed unsure if Jesus could heal the boy, saying, “If you can do anything, help us.” When Jesus told him that all things are possible to those who believe, the man responded, “I do believe; help my unbelief.” Jesus then proceeded to heal the boy. Most of us can identify with that man - sometimes our faith wavers. But if I really trust Him my sins will be few and unintentional; my light will shine before men and my good works will be seen by others (Matthew 5:14-16). God never asks the impossible: Rio Evans is the preacher for the Cañon City Church of Christ, 1718 Franklin Avenue Office phone: 719-275-9696.
