THIRD ANNUAL
BULL & REPLACEMENT HEIFER SALE
2024
ONLINE WITH FARMGATETIMEDAUCTIONS.COM
welcome...
Welcome to the 3rd Annual McIntosh Ranch Bull and Female sale! We are very proud of this year’s offering. Whether you are looking for power Simmental and Angus bulls or calving ease bulls in either breed, we have you covered. We continue to excel in producing herd bull prospects that will add more dollars to your bottom line. These are bulls that are made to produce top end females to go back into your herd and be corner stone matrons in the years to come and also sire big hipped, hairy steers that will bring top dollar. POUNDS PAY. Simple as that. Our bulls are raised in some of the roughest terrain up in the Interlake. Our cow herd grazes on all native pasture; lots of trees, rocks and low land. Body and foot structure is a must for us. Our bull calves are started on creep late summer to assist in the weaning process and make the transition easier for the bulls. After weaning, our bulls are fed a fully balanced TMR diet. Our bulls’ ration is designed to aim for a 3-3.5lb gain, which aids in proper development of the bulls. We find this helps to increase the bulls potential to work many years for you. This year we are excited to offer a Bull Development Program for our 2024 sale bulls after they are done working for you. Check out the details further into the catalog. Our bulls are on a full herd health program along side our cow herd. The bulls receive Inforce at birth, then vaccinated and boosted with Pfizer Gold One Shot and Ultrabac7 Somubac. After weaning bulls are dewormed with injectable Dectomax and given Clean up Pour on. The beef industry showed some positives this past fall. No matter if I was behind the mic selling cattle in Ste. Rose, or in the front row buying cattle in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, the farmer/rancher was well paid for his efforts. Whether we have a bull that fits your criteria or not, make sure your future bull purchases have lots of hair, stretch and shape. We made a few changes around the ranch this year. With drought conditions earlier in the year, we made the decision to majorly reduce our ewe flock numbers. We retained a group of ewes that will raise market lambs for our kids to show and we plan to continue to raise Purebred Polled Dorsets for seedstock aswell. With the reduction of the sheep, we decided to toss a few more cows out into the herd. We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to purchase some top end commercial cows that will serve dual purpose as recips or making market calves. We also purchased a nice group of purebred Black Angus females from the Black Meadows Dispersal (Bill Walker and Family Miniota, MB). If you are in the area, or would like to come tour the bull pen give us a call. We would be happy to show you through our offering and the cow herd.

The youngest bull in our sale this year. Super thick and wide topped with one of the best hair coats you will find on a bull. 346L’s dam is a female we have big expectations from. Her first calf was a heifer who has developed into a picture perfect bred heifer who will shortly start production here herself. 7H’s dam was purchased from Downhill Simmentals and was moved into our donor program shortly after. Unfortunately a short time after her first flush we lost 17E. Knowing the maternal strengths on the bottom side of 346L pedigree, you will want to keep every daughter. We have a healthy inventory of Sunville Commander Semen please contact Kolton to inquire.

Two bulls that are very long spined, have tons of muscle shape, and are backed by an impressive cow family. 308L’s dam is a full sib to Lot 1’s dam. The Broker/91A mating was no miss. 303L’s Dam is a daughter of IPU Bentley 81F. A baldy female with huge amount of center mass who stands very correct. Both bulls were born unassisted out of first calf heifers. Open the gate into the cow herd or the heifer pen with either of these two.

We sold her first calf as a bred heifer to Berts NR Simmentals. 21J (327L’s Dam) is a beautiful made female who caught many folks’s eye while touring the herd while she was a calf and a bred heifer and now as a productive cow. After another home run for 76D this year with a Tycoon heifer calf we decided to enter 76D into our donor program. **NOTE** 327L has a white hair line on both back feet above the hoof, no socks.

KFJ 7L is a bull that’s been special since birth. He was born at a modest 74lbs and has since grown into a stout, deep bodied, sound herd bull prospect. His dam was my pick of the red cows at the Meadow Acres dispersal. Her big square foot, depth of body, picture perfect udder all while tying it together in an extremely attractive feminine package is what drew me to her. Sired by Next Century one of the most impressive red simmental bulls in the industry today, KFJ 7L should sire thick heavy steers come fall and beautiful easy doing replacement females.

This bull checks all the boxes! Big topped, square hipped, sound foot, long as the day is long and has the potential to toss that money stripe on his calves. If his daughters are half the cow his dam was you will wish your whole bull battery was like him. 341L is a Hybrid bull out of a Simm/Angus cow. 341L’s dam was an exceptional cow that would be the prime example of a Ranch Cow. You could always pick him out in a pen of black calves! His dam is a first calf heifer sired by the legendary Coleman Bravo 6313. 1J is a beautiful made, attractive female who we feel will have a huge impact in our program. Her Dam 6015 cranks us a heifer calf every year and they all are in the top end of our replacement pen. She gave us one son who went to work in south eastern Saskatchewan for CV Livestock. 312L is super long and has an incredible amount of natural thickness, clean fronted with a big ol’ barrel on him! These Ellingson Badlands cattle are tremendous footed. 312L will be a sleep at night heifer bull who’s calves will give your performance bulls’ calves a run for their money in the fall.

What a heifer to start our female section off with! A direct daughter of SVS Betts and out of a FBF1 Combustible Daughter who has done great things for us over the years. The only reason we decided to offer this red baldy female in our sale is we have a full sib black baldy bred heifer! 333L is super attractive and has the hip structure Betts stamps his calves with. 333L is from our Brave cow family who stems from the Berts NR Program. 333L is full of longevity as her 12 year old grand dam just filed for retirement this year. The Brave cows are always the type that everyone likes; beautiful udders and no miss type of females. We look forward to watching 333L work for her new owner in the years to come!

LRX MS BLACK 91A “LUCY”
Full sister to 343L sold in last year’s sale to NA Bar Livestock, AB. Tons of muscle shape and loads of style out of a beautiful CCF Vision Daughter who is a full sib to MRK Priorty 3C that walked the pastures of LaBatte Simmentals for many years. 343L would be a fun one for a junior to hang a halter on in the summer and win some jackpots with. 8G is a very productive, hard working cow. Now that we have let 2 daughters leave the herd, I highly doubt there will be a chance at a third offered up.

Darren has purchased bulls from us over the years and always is buying the bulls that rise to the top of our pen, Darren and his family run a mixed beef and grain operation where they ranch a Black Angus based cow herd of 500 momma cows. I am fortunate enough to market a portion of Darrens calves every year for him and they are “the kind”. Darren decided to part with some heifers right from the top of his replacement pen. These heifers are selected from the breeding groups Darren had the McIntosh bulls in. Health protocol for the heifers; Blackleg, Enforce, Selenium & Tortazeral Pill. Heifers are currently on a TMR - silage based ration with a complete protein pellet (Vits and Minerals) Here is to buy some elite black hided heifers that are ranch raised to become great momma cows for you.

FARM GATE TIMED AUCTIONS
Timed Auctions Made Easy
How to Bid
V I S I T W W W. FA R M G AT E T I M E DAU C T I O N S . C A 1. Click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions. 2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity. 3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. 4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time the computer will declare the sale finished. 5. Following the sale the Owner or Sale Manager will invoice all buyers in the sale, please contact the seller with questions or to arrange delivery, pick up or shipping of your purchases. For more info and assistance with bidding contact Mark Shologan Ph: 780-699-5082
