Welcome to our Annual Bull Sale On October 15, my grandpa, Alan Sparrow passed away. When I remember him, I remember the person he was and the legacy he left behind. In 1964, my grandpa was one of the first importers of Charolais cattle. He was looking for high performing cattle that would tip the scale and bring the most profit at the end of the day. Now, fifty years later, that is exactly what we strive for in our cow herd and exactly what we have to offer you on March 7th. Our bulls have calving ease, vigor, hair, excellent temperaments and are good footed. That said, at the end of the day, the high performing, high weighing bulls are going to breed you the most profit. And that has been our main focus since 1964, when my grandpa, Alan Sparrow took home his first Charolais bull. We always look forward to providing our hospitality so come early for lunch and stay afterwards for socializing and barbeque. We look forward to seeing you March 7th. Emma

LATORO
Well, what more can be said about Latoro. After eleven years, Latoro finally died, but not before leaving us with a legacy of sons and daughters that have done nothing but made us friends and money. When Latoro came to us from Buddy Cobb in Montana he was everything that the Charolais business wasn’t looking for. He wasn’t polled. He wasn’t pretty. He wasn’t a Wyoming Wind. He was perfect. Many breeders thought we had lost our minds (some still do) but our commercial producers figured it out right away. And now, seventeen years later, Latoro sons, grandsons and great-grandsons continue to make waves in our breed and keep real cattlemen coming back for more “white” bulls.
ELDORADO In 2002 we sold Eldorado in our spring bull sale to Horseshoe E. Struggling to find a heifer bull that would produce herd bulls and great females we decided to AI to Eldorado. Calving ease plus thickness made him one of our best bull we ever AI’ed our heifers to. The bulls and females are all keepers and our heifers calve, get up and rebreed the next year. Not many heifer bulls can do this and raise a top bull for your bull pen.

REFERENCE SIRES LANZA Turning into a legend, Lanza started off as bull that we purchased to clean up on our cowherd. He became one of our top herdsires. We purchased him in 2008 from WinnMan Charolais. Later, we sold an interest of him to Lindskov-Thiel Ranch in South Dakota. We have used him as our main heifer bull for the last four years. You’ll note in this sale offering that the Lanza progeny offer a lot of performance! There’s not too many bulls that can offer calving ease and performance! Top that off with thick, curly hair, large scrotal and sound feet. The Lanzas have a lot to offer! To date, we are very pleased with the Lanza daughters and they continue to impress us in the mothering department!

BIRMINGHAM Birmingham has been walking our pastures since 2009, and has never failed to impress us. As a Latoro son, gives us everything his father did: good footed, curly-haired, high performing bulls. Birmingham also completes the package with calving ease and moderate birth weights. Birmingham is hard to miss in pasture! He is the thick, rugged, easy doing bull; he never has a bad day!

Terms:
The terms of the sale are cash or cheque. Settlement to be made immediately after the completion of the sale, payable at par to A. Sparrow Farms Ltd. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerk before any cattle will be released. All monies are in Canadian Funds. A. Sparrow Farms reserves the right to in-herd semen use on all bulls sold through the sale.
Bidding:
Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no by-bidding will be permitted.
Disputes
:
Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decisions on all disputes will be final.
Announcements:
All announcements made from the auction block or on the weigh sheets will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to such disclosures.
Breeder ’s Guarantee – BULLS:
Semen check will be done in April unless the buyer requests it to be done earlier. If your bull does not pass his semen check the buyer will be refunded their money and will be replaced with another bull. At the end of the season the bull will then be returned to A. Sparrow Farms. Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months of age to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
Exception Guarantee:
In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.
Certificate of Registration:
Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.
Health:
All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.
Liabilities:
All persons attend the sale at their own risk and the seller and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur.
Mail Bids:
Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representative. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
Delivery:
Free delivery to Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta. Other destinations will be at shared cost.
Insurance:
Insurance will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value. A. Sparrow Farms will pay 2% of your insurance. All bulls left after the sale must be insured.
