This programme is funded by Temasek Foundation to promote student exchanges between NUS and partner universities in ASEAN, India, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. With the objectives of fostering close relations among young Asian leaders, and grooming the next generation of leaders for the region, especially within ASEAN, the programme aims to sponsor 150 students for exchange and community involvement across Asia. Up to 50 undergraduates from partner universities in ASEAN will be able to spend a semester at NUS in each academic year.

Terms of TF-NUS LEaRN Award •

Recipients from partner universities will receive up to S$6000 each. This award will help to cover airfare, accommodation, books and other expenses. On-campus accommodation will be arranged. However, students are still expected to apply for housing online when applying for exchange to NUS.

Requirements of TF-NUS LEaRN Award Community involvement: • Incoming students will be attached to a NUS Volunteer Network student group. They are each required to spend a minimum of 10 hours on at least 1 community involvement project. • This must be validated by filling in a record of community involvement, which is to be submitted with a summative report (elaborated below). Host Family Programme: • Incoming students will be matched to a host or host family. They are strongly encouraged to meet their hosts to network and build relationships through friendship among people from different cultures and to provide a sense of what local life is like in Singapore. Reflections and Summative Reports: • Students are encouraged to write down their reflections about their exchange and community involvement experiences, either in journals or blogs. • Students are required to write either a 2000-word report or a photo-essay of 1400 words with the use 10-12 wellchosen photos on their exchange, community involvement and host family experiences.
