Message from Chairman

It is a proven fact that education is the key to the establishment of dynamic and diverse society. No country is built on bricks but on brains, nor on cement but on enlightenment. If we do not pay adequate attention to the children’s education, we cannot develop a civilized society. Thus, education is to be “priority of priorities” and better education or “quality education” is our motto. Xavier International, on the ground of its experiences and results of all the International past examinations in all subjects and levels, believes that it can serve society and the nation catering the unparallel quality education to the students. As John Ruskin says, “Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent efforts”, we at the Xavier strive to dispense quality education to equip the students to vie in the competitive society. With humility, we request parents, guardians and well-wishers to continue giving support. At the Xavier International, we pledge to provide quality education to the students so that they can overcome the challenges of changing time. I wish all of you success in your endeavors.

Kamal Krishna Joshi, Ph. D Chairman

(Dr. Joshi has served as a Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He was the Chairman of University Grant Commission and University Quality Assurance & Accreditation Committee. He is also the member of Intergovernmental Steering Committee of South Asian University)

Features of A-Levels A-Levels typically take two years to complete. The subject content of the A-Level syllabus is divided into two parts: the ASlevel and the A2. Each part makes up 50 per cent of the overall A-level grade. There are two units in each subject at AS-level and a further two units at A2 (although this may vary from subject to subject, for example, Maths and Science have three units at AS-level and three units at A2).

Timeframe The A-Level programme lasts two years. Classes for A-Level students begin in May/June. But prior to formal classes, Foundation classes are conducted.

Assessment A-Levels use a wide range of assessment techniques to supplement formal written examinations - orals, practicals, projects and coursework of different types in various subjects to measure the performance of students.

Grading & reporting A-Level results are graded as A*, A, B, C, D or E, Grade A* being the highest and Grade E the lowest. Similarly AS Level results are marked as a, b, c, d or e indicating the standard achieved, Grade a being the highest and Grade e the lowest. ‘Ungraded’ indicates that the student has failed to reach the standard required for a pass .

Guided learning hours: A-Level syllabuses require about 360 guided learning hours per subject over the duration of the course.

Recommended prior learning No prior knowledge is required for students willing to enter the A-Level course(except for science).
