Heeresh Khatri, 29 yrs Placement Coordinator MIT ID

USER STUDY After finalising our questionnaire we carry out user study. First we gave the people a list of questionnaire and ask them to answer it. After that we short listed some people from diffrent age group and conduct their interviews and from that we prepared their personas.

Mr. Heeresh Khatri, a 29 year old professional is very active on social networking sites. He claims that you name a site and he is active on it. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are some of his favorites. He believes that this is the most practical and economically feasable way to remain connected with people. He is on Facebook to chat with friends, most of them who are abroad and keep himself updated about their lives. He is on LinkedIn for his professional contacts to improve. So he is open to having a new site that will be exclusively for people with the same interests, where individuals with the same wavelength meet and can exchange and share ideas, have interaction and discussions. He is looking for something that is simple and easy to use and understand and has no privacy issues. Also, he doesn’t want to be asked continuosly for personal data.

Tithi Jasani, 19 yrs Product Design Student MIT ID

Heeresh Khatri, 29 yrs Placement Coordinator MIT ID

19 year old girl Tithi Jasani, from Gujarat-Rajkot who is studying Product Design in Pune represents today’s young, net- savvy generation. She spends on an average half an hour per day to use Facebook. As per Tithi, Facebook is a good way of staying in touch with your friends, especially those whom you can’t get to meet in person. Apart from interaction with friends she likes to watch videos shared on this social network. although it becomes boring to surf Facebook after around half an hour Tithi’s opinions about socialising on the social network are very affirmative. According to her, it is not addictive, in fact is very beneficial if used appropriately. She gets annoyed by the notifications which comes on her email address. Tithi really likes to try out new things. Given some interesting alternative which is simpler, interesting and unique yet covers all the features of Facebook, she would definitely like to try it out.

Mihir Gurjar, 23 year old, studying in MITID, Pune likes to use social networking sites to keep in touch with his friends. But he doesn’t spend more than half an hour on it. While he is on a social networking site, he prefers to chat with his friends and make new friends. When he visits a page, he isn’t sure if the page is a duplicate or authentic. So he wants a proof of it being original. Also, he feels he should have more options when he looks for someone. ie. location, email, state, school etc. on his search box. He is also interested to use a dashboard with customised themes, where he may be able to change the icons, themes and the look of his screen. He would like to be notified about events, birthdays etc. by pop ups on his dashboard. He likes to meet people with similar interests, but he would want to differentiate them or categorize them into groups (of the same area) where it will be easier for him to meet or find them.

Yashaswini Pisolkar, 45 yrs Student Co-ordinator MIT ID

Yashasvini Pisolkar, working as a student co-ordinator at MITID, uses social networking sites very rarely, though she wants to explore something that may interest her. Facebook is the only social networking site she uses, as and when she gets notifications on her mail. Otherwise, she prefers to contact her friends and other people personally or by calling and talking to them, which gives her that “APNAAPANwala” feeling, which a social networking site cannot give her. As she is a middle aged woman, she faces some problems because of not being tech savy. So she doesn’t find websites or pages of her interest. So she would prefer or welcome a site where she can join, follow and update herself about her interests.

CARD SORTING After doing interviews we carried out card sorting exercise. In this exercise we write the words releated with social networking site on the cards and ask our users to arrange it according to their convenience. We also allow them to add cards if they want.

WORK FLOW After doing card sorting exercise we develope work flow of a site.
