UG Orientation Programme - 2015
Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies organised the Orientation Programme for the First year students on 26, 27 and 29 June 2015 at Main Auditorium. Prof. Gurunath Rao Vaidya (Principal, AIGS) presided over the function on the first day and addressed the gathering. The first
day of the programme included introduction to the college, the do's and don'ts at college and campus de tour. The first year students were also kept informed about the various committees functioning at college which aids them in their co-curricular and extracurricular interest. They were also informed about the disciplinary committee thereby insisting them to abide by the rules and regulations and the consequences if not followed. The Heads of the Departments and the Committees were also Gathering during the Orientation Program
introduced during the second day of the session. The third day of the orientation program was held in the respective Departments for the students. The programme ended on a successful note and the students were happy to know their institution better.

POSH holds Competition to Sparkle Awareness
P O S H (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Cell held a collage competition on Prevention of Sexual Harassment. The competition was held on 16 July 2015 in LH 002 . The theme for the competition was chosen considering the threatening situations growing sky high in the current times. The programme started with a Power Point presentation on awareness of sexual harassments by Mrs.Lakshmi (Faculty, Dept. of Commerce and Management). The presentation cast light upon the acts and laws ensuring punishment for illicit sexual behavior and safety of women.

The collage competition followed the presentation and inaugural talks. 24 students divided into eight groups participated in the competition. Students participated in the competition with utmost enthusiasm. The competition was judged by Prof.Ganapathi Reddy (Dean, Mass

“FUN FAIR” - Enthusiasm at Carnival
As a part of curricullum to get practical exposure into the subjects, the Department of Commerce and Management organised an event called “FUN FAIR” through Club Yukthi for the students of III and V Semester B.Com and BBM on 12

Ponnonam at Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies SEPTEMBER 10, 2015
The Seventh Onam celebrations of Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies were held with much fanfare and fun on 10 September 2015 at the Acharya Institutes. The event started with the Shrinkarimelam, followed by the martial arts of Kerala- The Kalaripayattu. Street Play - Youth for Empowering Society AUGUST 15, 2015
The NSS volunteers of AIGS performed a street play on the theme “Youth for better India� on 15 August 2015. A group of 45 NSS volunteers along with Mr. George (NSS officer) and Ms. Sruthi (Faculty, Dept of Commerce & Mgmt) performed the play to create awareness among common people about how can youth take small initiatives to solve problems
of the society. The play was mainly lead by Mr. Sachin & Mr. Puneeth (III year BCA) along with 15 other characters. The issues related to cleanliness, water and power preservation, traffic awareness and other day to day problems were also thrown light upon. The street play in Kannada was performed in five different timings where lot of people gathered together to watch the show. The street play ensured the participation of public for a better Street play by students in Majestic Bus stop understanding.
The show was highly appreciated by the public as it contained humor also threw light into the various issues existing in the society. Few members came forward and appreciated the initiative and effort put by the students to perform the act and said that they were ready to support these kinds of programs in future. Students of AIGS, organized Food Fest and Chart exhibition on 15 August 2015 viewing the multiplicity of culture and the region-specific cuisine in India. The Food Fest and chart exhibition
intended to familiarize the students of foreign countries about Indian culture and its diversity as a part of exhibition, practices and tradition with that
the special delicacies of each state. Students clad in their traditional attires served the food to the visitors who wanted to relish the taste of the neighbouring state and please

The NCC Cadets of Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies took part in the First International Yoga Day celebration held at Manekshaw Parade Ground, Bengaluru on 21 June 2015. The celebration was organized by 9th Karnataka Battalion in association with various Govt. Bodies. 20 Cadets from Acharya Institutes under the guidance of Lt.Subramanyam and Ms.Sowmya M A (Care Takers, NCC) along with other battalions across the Bengaluru participated in the noble event proposed by Sri Narendra Modi, the honorable Prime minister of India. The event was scheduled from 7 to 7.30 am wherein the various asanas were performed by the participants. The asanas demonstrated and performed were meant for mitigating day to days stress and aiding in greater focus on work and education.

Chart Exhibits on Economy and its facets
The Department of EconomicsEcosophy put up a Chart Exhibition “It's not the charts to display but our hearts to display� on 18 August 2015 in AIGS block. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Gurunath Rao Vaidya (Principal, AIGS). Creative Designs across eras and place on Display
The Department of Fashion and Apparel Design conducted "Window Display" in AIGS block on the occasion of World Fashion Day. The activity was coordinated by the faculty of Fashion & Apparel Design on 21 August 2015. Students were assigned with 6 themes such as African tribes, Street Fashion, Mughal costume, Chinese and Japanese culture, Egyptian civilization and Victorian era. They had created a background with appropriate props to befit
the themes assigned to the respective groups. Attires depicting the respective themes were clad by the models to drive across the indigenousness of the particular places. Tradition, origin, lifestyle, social and cultural backgrounds of the era and the place were also communicated with the relevant posters on the same. The event was well executed by students which received positive feedback and words of appreciation by Principal, faculty and students.

Business model & chart exhibition cum competition
The Department of Commerce and Management organized an Exhibition-cum-Competition for the I Semester BBA & B. Com students on 27 September 2015, where the participant students made different models and charts of various well-known companies. The objective of this activity was to improve and create awareness among the students about business and management skills. It helped the students to understand how a company operates in the competitive environment. It gave them a practical exposure about business functioning and the different strategies adopted by the company in different situation to survive in the market and become a leader in it. The students were given valuable suggestion and guidelines for the preparation of model and chart by Mr. Raval Dipamkumar M, Mrs. Lakshmi V, Ms. Samanvitha C, and Mr. Prabhakar K (Faculty members from the Department of Commerce and Management). The event was inaugurated by our principal Prof. Gurunath Rao Vadiya and he encouraged the students for their efforts as well. Bangalore University Intercollegiate American Football (Men) Tournament
Bangalore University Intercollegiate American Football (Women) Tournament
The American Football Team (Men) AIGS, participated in the Bangalore University intercollegiate Tournament held at Directorate of Physical Education Ground, Bangalore University. Around 27 teams from various colleges across Bangalore had participated in the tournament. It was a tough competition and during the semi-final match inspite of effort, the team lost to Sheshadripuram College by 1213. Team work, coordination, continuous practice and good coaching helped them to get a one more feather for AIGS sports. Management, Principal, Teaching and NonTeaching fraternity of AIGS congratulated the participants and Mr. Mahesh PM (Physical Education Director) for the participation.
The Football (women) team of AIGSsecured the runner-up position in the Bangalore University Intercollegiate tournament 2015-16. Tournament was organised by Bangalore University at SFS College, Electronic City on12August 2015. Around 10 teams across the university had taken part in the tournament. In the final match, the team lost to Jyothi Nivas College By 0-1. Principal, Teaching and non-Teaching fraternity of AIGS congratulated the participants and Mr. Mahesh PM (Physical Education Director) for their effort.

Orientation Program for the NSS volunteers
An orientation program was organized by the NSS (National Service Scheme) unit on 15 July 2015 for the 1st years and other interested students. The program started with invocation song by Ms. Anamika Ghosh, followed with lamp lighting ceremony by Prof. Anil B. Malali, (In-charge Principal) and NSS volunteers. Prof. Anil

A short comedy skit based on difference between villagers and city people by Punith and team was appreciated by the freshers. Many other performances like patriotic songs, and folk song by the seniors were appreciated by the freshers. On 15th August 2015, Acharya Institutes celebrated India's 69th Independence Day in the campus. On this occasion, a mime on “Youth & Terrorism” was presented by the NSS team of AIGS. The mime intended to create awareness among the students of Acharya Institutes. The mime was followed by a group song by Ms. Varsha Venugopal & team and solo dance by Ms. Raya Guha. The program was highly appreciated and raked praises from the masses and the dignitaries present. The NSS team of AIGS put up an exhibition titling Incredible India on 14 August 2015 in the Open Arena, AIGS. The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Gurunath Rao Vaidya (Principal, AIGS) and Prof. Chandramouli (Head, Dept. of Mass Communication) along with Mr. George (NSS Officer, AIGS) by cutting the ribbon at the India Gate model made by Ashin Tom and team. The chief guests were accompanied by NSS volunteers dressed up as freedom fighters Bhagat Singh and Sarojini Naidu. The exhibition was open for all the students and staff of AIGS which happened in the open arena of AIGS block. The students were dressed up traditionally alongside chart presentation and food stalls representing their
respective states. There were many charts prepared by international students on India about the history, freedom fighters, rulers, important places etc. Everybody appreciated

NSS initiates an Awareness Campaign on Suicide Prevention AUGUST 27, 2015
The Department of Psychology organised an awareness campaign on World Suicide Prevention Day to spread awareness about Suicide and its prevention on 27 August 2015. All the students showed immense interest in knowing as well as creating awareness about one of the most alarming issue in today's society. With this objective, few competitions related to the theme of “SUICIDE PREVENTION� were held for the psychology as well as other students of AIGS. Collage making, Face Painting and Slogan writing were the competitions held for the students. Five groups with three members each took part in the collage competition where their creativity and understanding about the theme was depicted. While few teams focused on the pictorial representation of pain and ways to overcome it, others focused on lending a helping hand and motivating people to observe and assist the needy. Another five groups with two members in each group took part in the face painting competition. While few teams focused on depicting the difference between suicide and natural death, the others stressed on the need to look at life from a positive perspective. And on a whole, 22 students individually participated in the slogan writing competition. Several innovative slogans were written based on the theme given. Mr. Karthik (Station Director, Department of Journalism) and Ms. Bhuvaneshwari (Faculty, Department of FAD) judged the event. 12

The Department of Commerce & Management, Research & Development Wing and Placements, in association with Institute of Company Secretaries of India-Bangalore, organized a career awareness program on company secretary-ship on 17 August 2015 in the MBA Auditorium. Ms.Samanvitha C (Faculty, Department of Commerce and Management) welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource persons, Mr. Maithreya and Mrs. Noor Somaiyya
(Academic Councillors, ICSI-Bangalore Chapter) to the audience. The resource persons introduced the various courses in company secretary-ship and spoke about offering such courses through institutional tieups. The audience appreciated the courses on company secretary-ship, and raised queries regarding the career opportunities in this field. The Department of Psychology organised a workshop on “Mindfulness Living Practices” on 18 September 2015 for the psychology students of B A and M.Sc to lead a happier life in the stressful world of current times. Dr. Anuradha (Associate Professor, Dept. of Psychology, Christ University) was the resource person for the day. Ms. Zeina Sravya (III year B A) delivered the welcome speech followed by the introduction of the guest by Ms. Keba Paul (Faculty, Department of Psychology). The session started with the practical examples of how the word 'civilised' has been pushing us into more stressful life situations in a lighter vein. Giving oneself some time to calm and relax has become a highly planned task and to make the students understand the importance, they were made to experience it. A 30

A Workshop on Positive Mental Health organized by the Department of Psychology, Jain University, was attended by the MSc. Psychology students of Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies. Two faculty members from the department, Ms. Prathibha and Ms. Keba also accompanied them for the one day workshop. The workshop was conducted on 3 September 2015. It consisted of two sessions. The forenoon session was conducted by Prof. Jerome Carson from the University of Bolton. This session focused mainly on clinical and personal recovery. Numerous issues related to symptom improvement in psychological disorders such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder and Depression were discussed. The session also covered topics such as stages as well as components of recovery. Digital Media: The Future of Business

Suicide Prevention Day - ‘Engage to Change’
Suicide is a serious public health problem causing enormous suffering and pain, and loss to individuals, families, and communities nationwide. In India, the suicide attempts have been rising at an alarming rate. Though statistics yield such shocking reports nationwide, suicidal behaviours are common. Suicide prevention is an issue that must be addressed at many levels by different groups working together in a coordinated and synergistic way where Government, health care systems, clinicians, educational institutions, community-based organizations and family members and friends have respective significant roles to play in suicide prevention. As part of observance of World Suicide Prevention Day, 7 September in India, various competitions were held by NIMHANS, under the name “Engage to Change”. Colleges in Bangalore were invited to be a part of the events. As a part of the awareness campaign for the Suicide Prevention Day, the Department of Psychology conducted a series of programs and competitions during the club activity sessions in AIGS. On 27 August 2015, few competitions related to the theme of “SUICIDE PREVENTION” were SEPTEMBER 15, 2015
held for all the students of AIGS. Three competitions were conducted as part of the awareness campaign and prizes were given for: Collage making, Face Painting, Slogan writing. On 3 September 2015, a role play session on 'Telephonic counseling' in preventing suicide was held by the department where three teams participated in the program. If a person who wants to commit suicide calls up the helpline, how a counselors should help him was e x h i b i t e d innovatively by each team. The sessions focused on various perspectives and addressing the client issues through a holistic approach. These awareness campaigns for suicide prevention organised in the Psychology department was a stupendous success and students who participated gave a positive feedback about the events. Few students even came up with suggestion to create a suicide helpline in the campus to help people with problems and suicidal tendencies. It was quite evident that the students comprehended the seriousness of the issue and the
importance of suicideprevention in the current society. A report of the above held events were sent as an entry for the competition “Engage to change – conduct a campaign”by NIMHANS. The panel went through the reports submitted by various institutions all over India and came up with a list of colleges that succeeded in creating effective awareness within the campus. Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies was mentioned in the category of special appreciation for
the good initiative. Along with the above held competitions, two III semester BA Psychology students, Thahfa Thaha and Parvathy Rajeev participated in the competition of “Writing a letter to a person experiencing suicidal thoughts”. The letter focused on empathizing the situation of the person and motivating them to live than ending their life. Thahfa's letter was considered in the special category list.
Modern trends in Chemical Research
The Department of Chemistry participated in a 2 days seminar called “Modern Trends in Chemical Research” held on 15 and 16 September 2015 at Christ University, Bangalore. The PG students were accompanied by Dr.Nikhath Fathima and Ms.Ashwini S A. On the first day eminent speakers (Scientist) from various academic institutes, industries, pharmaceutical companies were present. In the first session Dr.Chandrabhas Narayan from Jawaharlal Nehru centre for advanced scientific research, Bangalore, presented a lecture on material science topic called Recent Research on Metal Organic Frame Works [MOF's], where he discussed various types of materials used including porous, artificial porous type, mentioning their applications in activated carbons and zeolites. In the second session Dr.Sivakumar Rallapalli in his interesting lecture introduced us to the route selection for new chemical entities, where he discussed the new methods for the synthesis of important drugs used for diabetes. Later on in the afternoon after the lunch the session was chaired by Dr.Sandeep Kumar from Raman Research Institute, Bangalore, where he delivered the lecture on the fascinating world of liquid crystals, he discussed the types of liquid crystals, LED's and its potential applications as thermo-sensors, semiconductors etc. Then as the last event of the day Dr.Veerendra Badrashetty, delivered a very important lecture on radioactive isotopes in nuclear medicine and its application in cancer. 15

Helping Hand for the Survivors of Abuse
The Department of Psychology organized a talk on “Psychological Support and Guidance for Survivors of Abuse” on 7 August 2015 for the students of the Department. The resource person for the talk was Mrs. Ashwini (Asst. Professor, Dept. of Psychology, Jain University). Her expertise in counseling and experience dealing with many abuse victims of different age groups made the session enlightening. The content of the session was about her hands on experience in dealing with the victims of abuse. She started the session explaining Mrs. Ashwini briefing on the Survivors of Abuse terminologies like victims, survivors and thrivers. People who have been abused are generally termed as “victims” who is someone completely broken down and has no strength or power to face life. Some victims become “survivors” who atleast have the ability to recover from the consequences of the abuse. But Mrs. Ashwini emphasized that as psychologists our aim should be to help these victims and survivors become “thrives” who can start performing even better in life, after the abuse. She also explained about various kinds of abuse and strategies to help such people to come out of their traumatic situation. At the end of the seminar, she enlightened the gathering by quoting “I am not What Happened to Me, I am What I Choose to Become”. AUGUST 8, 2015

The Department of Economics organized a workshop on “Financial Econometrics” on 08 August 2015. The workshop was hosted by Dr. B Balaji, Post-doctoral fellow in Economics from Pondicherry Central University. He covered the topics on Basic statistics, Basic Econometrics and Financial Econometrics. The workshop was conducted in two sessions. Morning session included: The concepts of Descriptive Statistics, Regression and Correlation models were discussed. He used Microsoft Excel for analyzing data series on Inflation. He also introduced E-VIEWS (Statistical Package) and explained the concepts and analysis form it. Students actively engaged in the discussion with the resource person. Afternoon Session: The Second session was conducted in the Computer Lab. He explained the uses and applicability of the software which was very helpful to gain knowledge practically, which was discussed in the morning session. Students enthusiastically participated and got the usefulness and applications of the statistical package with economic variables which are very important to the present day world. 16

The Department Of Fashion And Apparel Design held a visit for the students of the Department to "WEAVES 2015" at The Lalit Ashoka, Bangalore on 9 July 2015. The visit intended to create awareness about the various types of Indian textiles such as Dharmavaram, Venkatagiri, Muga Clicks of faculty and students engrossed and Eri silk, Maheshwari, in the product displays

The Department of Psychology organized the first club activity for the year 2015-16 on 09 July 2015 which was attended by all BA Psychology students. A presentation

The session began with dividing the students in two groups where the first group was asked to write few distinctive features about themselves and the other half was asked to find them based on these features and everyone had to pair up and settle down with the person found. This ensured that everyone was mixed up and had new bonds to form. The next proceeding was the presentation, where the two presenters made the audience listen, think and even laugh at times. Men and women are different beings and the goal was

YUKTHI Orientation Programme – 2015
The orientation program for the freshers' about the Commerce and Management Club 'YUKTHI' was held on 13 July 2015 in LH 003. The orientation program was held with an objective to communicate the students about the functioning of the club and the objective behind the formation of the club. activities. Later there was a screening of the drama “The Crucible” enacted by the previous students. Post-screening, a discussion was held regarding the next club activity which is to be held on 29 July 2015, where suggestions and ideas were discussed with the students. The Students of BA PME conducted a debate session on 11 July 2015, on the topic Paper Money. The debate was commenced by dividing into three groups, where two groups had to talk for and against Paper Money and the last group had to make a critical analysis regarding its good and adverse effects. The d e b a t e w a s knowledgeable and fun as it was more of an open discussion. The
students thanked the Moderator Mr. M. Marimuthu and other Faculty members for always making the session interesting. The debate ended on a positive note by mentioning that there is no winner for this competition. This gave justice to the topic by highlighting the fact that, like every coin, this topic also has two sides to it. It has its own advantages and disadvantages too.

Disorder Enactment and Documentary Screening related to “Autism Awareness” JULY 23, 2015
The Department of Psychology organized a Disorder Enactment and Documentary Screening related to “Autism Awareness” on 23 July 2015. The presentation was conducted by Shraddha S. Durg, final year BA student along with an enactment by Zeina, Nouf & Team. All BA Psychology students attended the activity. The session started with a skit portraying a severe autistic child by Zeina, other characters like a helpless mother by Nouf and careless father by Suneeth, a pediatrician by Surajit and family friend by Shambo which showed the clinical picture of the disorder and the lack of awareness among layman. Shraddha who played the role of Skit performance by Zeina, Nouf & Team a child psychologist in the skit later explains to the gathering about AUTISM. With a power point presentation, she explained the definition, major symptoms and criteria for diagnosis of autism. The talk was very effective as Shraddha shared her experiences of doing internship in ASHA, an Autism school which included diagnosis and management of such kids. After the presentation by Shraddha, a documentary named “Make Me Normal” was screened to the students, which were case histories of few autistic as well as Asperger syndrome cases providing more clarity to the psychology students. After the documentary, few doubts were raised by the students which were cleared by Shraddha as well as Mr. George (Head of Department, Dept. of Psychology). The enthusiasm shown by the students was very good and appreciated as this club activity was a learning experience for the students.
Business Lab paves way for Building Entrepreneurs AUGUST 11, 2015
The students of III BBA A section coordinated the business lab activity on 11, 13 and 17 August 2015. The students divided into 3 batches took the onus of coordination of various activities. The students prepared charts on successful entrepreneurs which communicated their achievements. Discussion on various entrepreneurial skills motivated and enlightened the
participants. Discussion on global warming was held by the students on 13 August 2015. Emphasis was laid on generating awareness on global issues and the importance of paperless work in the offices. The third team coordinated group discussion on reasons behind attrition and the ways to reduce it on the last dat. They had a healthy discussion on various causes for
attrition. They also came up with new ideas to reduce the level of attrition. On the whole, the students learnt about presentation skills and entrepreneurial ideas in the business lab. It was a learning experience to all and everyone enjoyed the activities under the guidance of Ms. Shruthi J (Faculty, Department of Commerce & Management).

The Department of Economics screened a movie on Economics and its Applicability in the Real Life on 23 September 2015 at LH 309, as a part of Economics club activity. A video about MPC (Marginal Propensity to Consume) was screened to make students aware of the practical application of the concepts. A presentation on the psychological disorder “Dissociative Identity Disorder� (DID) was done by Ms. Pooja Ghose and Ms. Khyati Johnson (III year B.A Psychology) on 20 August 2015 for all the students of the Department. The presentation included an explanation of the disorder DID, its evolution as a disorder in psychiatry and an explanation of the causes and symptoms of DID followed by the
screening of the movie 'Sybil'. The story was based on the case of a girl named Sybil with Dissociative Identity Disorder. She had 16 personalities which took control of her whenever she was unable to face an emotional situation. The movie showcased the causes of DID including the trauma inflicted on her by her mother during childhood. Each of the identities differed in their
outlook and relation to the world and was also of different ages. The identities did not just consist of female characters but also 2 male characters. The movie concluded with the adequate cure suggested by the psychologist. The movie helped the students understand the complex psychiatric disorder DID in a better way and was found to be a fruitful session.

Awareness program on Eye Donation
The NSS Unit of AIGS had organized an awareness program on eye donation along with eye pledging by the NSS volunteers on 30 July 2015. The resource person for the talk was Mr. George Kannamthanam (Director, Project Vision) along with his team. The program started with videos on eye donation to sensitize the gathering. Around 175 NSS volunteers had attended the program which started with a welcome speech and introduction of Fr. George to the gathering followed by wishes from Prof. Gurunath Rao

Role-play on Telephonic counseling
The Department of Psychology with the theme of “suicide prevention” had organised an activity on 3 September 2015, which was a Role play session on 'Telephonic counselling' in preventing suicide. Three teams participated from department of psychology and each team had two participants, one being the person who wants to commit suicide and the other being the counsellor - over phone. While the person who wants to commit suicide calls up the helpline for just sharing his/her feelings for the one last time, the role of the counsellor is to analyse, understand, empathise and convince the person that suicide is not the only solution, Students participating during the session thereby saving the person. Each team exhibited their skills innovatively. While few focused on the need for being a good role model, empathy and reflection, the others focused on the positive aspects teaching them positive reappraisal. Overall, the session focused on all the perspectives while addressing the client through a holistic approach. Students played the role of both the counsellor and the client. They came up with high intensity problems related to family and drug abuse and how to help those through counselling in a simple manner. The session came out to be fruitful in making the psychology students understand how to help a person over the phone in emergency situations.

The Department of Commerce organized a one day activity on the topic, “International HR Policies of Different Countries” for PG Commerce students of III Semester MIB on 11 September 2015 in LH 509. It was an activity which was planned with keeping abreast the subject which is being handled by Mr. Shaikh Juned Saoud i.e. International Human Resource Management (IHRM). The topics

Mock Interviews to prepare for Employment SEPTEMBER 11, 2015
The Department of Management organised Mock interview session on 22 September 2015 for the students of III Sem BBA in LH 003. The activity was organised by Mrs. Rajani and Ms. Shruthi J (Faculty, Commerce & Management) as a part of both Human Resource Management and Soft Skills for Business subjects. The purpose of this activity was to enlighten the
students about the real time interview procedure and the ways to handle it. The students were shortlisted for the interview on the basis of results of the aptitude test conducted by Club Yukthi. The panel members included Prof. Bhargav, Prof. Juned and Mr. Raval Dipam (Faculty, Commerce & A Student answering the Panel Management). The students were asked to confidence which will take them to come with their personal resume success in the long run. The Department of Psychology held a student presentation on the topic “The Effects of Childhood Trauma over Lifespan” on 24 September 2015. The presentation was done by Ms. Zeina Sravya Ahmed (Final year BA) who explained about how childhood trauma affects a person's growth over lifespan. In the talk, she mainly focused on adverse effects of trauma on children, their biological, physical and cognitive development and how to deal with them. Different forms of Banking The students of I Semester B.com A section did a presentation on the topic “BANKING SYSTEM”on 24 September 2015 at LH 203.During the presentation the students had a discussion about the present working system of banks and clarified some doubts about different functions of banking. The objective of the activity was to enlighten the students about the present banking system. The activity helped students to clarify their doubts on the functioning of bank, and compare the present working conditions and new trends in banking sectors. A Seminar on ‘Inclusive Learning and Self Evaluation’
The Department of Commerce and Management held a faculty seminar on “Inclusive Learning Methods” through various management games. The seminar was taken by Mrs. Dhanalakshmi (Lecturer, Department of Commerce and Management) on 22 July 2015.The whole session was more of activity oriented learning where Mrs. Dhanalakshmi had organized d i ff e r e n t a c t i v i t i e s f o r t h e participants. This enabled the participants to know better about
themselves; it was a kind of personality identification for each and every individual. The session started with the introduction of theoretical background about: Inclusive Learning Techniques, Objectives & Concepts of Blooms Taxonomy, Traditional and Modern Inclusive Learning. The whole session was more of two way communication where she motivated all the participants to participate in the session through some activities. Everybody

Towards the end of the presentation she had prepared a structured questionnaire to collect the information about the participants where she segmented all the participants into different groups and explained the nature and personality of each and every group. At the end, the presenter organized story telling event, where all the participants came up with their own story based on some common words given by the professor. Finally the professor concluded the session with surprising gifts to the winners for storytelling event. During the feedback session, all the participants expressed their satisfaction with the presentation and most importantly everyone were impressed with the way she had prepared for the whole session through different management games and activity based learning.

Workshop on sketching classes was held to give detailed knowledge about the various techniques in rendering techniques and also to imply these techniques on fashion figures and accessories. Know yourself to show Yourself
The Department of Commerce organized one day activity on Panel Interview- Know Yourself to show yourself for PG Commerce students of MFA, MIB and M.Com on 21 August 2015 in the Main Auditorium. It was an activity which was planned keeping abreast the requirements of the industry.
The Panel Interview was done by 7 judges who were from different
streams. The theme was to make sure that the candidate is judged not only on stress level but on subject knowledge, situational analysis, psychological ability, accounting, law, ethical practices and general knowledge. The students were pleased to be a part of the event as it gave them ample scope for improving their skills which will be helpful in their future careers. Mr.Anil B Malali, (Head,
Department of Commerce) expressed his happiness for the success of the event. Mr. Joffin, 2 Year MIB and Mr. Shaikh Juned Saoud (Faculty, Department of Commerce and Management) and Mr. Vinay Y Kenkere (Faculty, Department of Commerce and Management) were the student coordinator and the faculty coordinators respectively.

Awareness about the Hazards of Chemical Products SEPTEMBER 14, 2015
Recent ban of eating of Maggie throughout the country created a panic among the Maggie lovers and young children. Knowing the reasons behind, everyone is alerted. To create awareness among the college going students, the Guest narrated with living examples of mental hazards, impotency, nerve weakness etc. Use of cosmetics, may lead amongst fair sex,
irreparable diseases. Through many examples, Dr. Venkatesh warned and created awareness against the use of lead and derived from lead objects. Almost, more than 75 students with teaching members were present. The programme was held on 14 September 2015. Dr.I.F.Mudagall welcomed the guest and gathering. The function began at 11 am and concluded at
12.30 noon. Many within the students interacted with the guest. The guest became happy looking at the interest of the students.

Internship at M/s Micromatic Grinding Technologies Pvt. Ltd. JULY 1, 2015
Mr. Vinay Kenkere and Mrs. Geetha M G (Faculty, Department of Commerce & Management) took up 15 days Faculty internship programme at M/s Micromatic Grinding Technologies Pvt. Ltd ( Dabaspet, Bengaluru) from 1 July 2015 to 15 July 2015. It was an opportunity for the Mr. Vinay and Ms. Geetha along with the faculty members to proprietor before the firm understand the theoretical principles being used in Heads of various departments industry and the impact it bore on of the organization like Human the performance of the Resources, Marketing, organization. “Knitted Structure Analysis – Basis for all the Fabrics” Mr. Ningappa H M (Assistant Professor, Dept of FAD) gave a faculty seminar on Knitted Structure Analysis. He spoke on basic structures like Single Jersey, Rib, Interlock and Purl loop structures and its importance in the knitted fabrics. Knit stitch, Miss Stitch and Tuck Stitches were also discussed. He highlighted the magnitude of the knitted structure in the forthcoming times. The talk was followed by an interactive session.
